  • @squierplayer If he only payed more attention to the explication, this would've been perfect ;(

  • @Ningirsutyr what is explication?

  • Basicaly he used Power chords, minor third and a major third chords. And ending on a perfect 4th chord

  • 1 of the Best Guitarist in METAL!!!

  • Ferrari Sign = Malmsteen FTW

  • *subscribed

  • Metal Mike rules !

  • Very simple and amazing riff !!

  • hey theory nuts!

    stop freaking out! ill explain.

any note played over a pedal tone? call it a chord.

any of those 1/5 power chord thingy's? call em chords.

    cause that's how metal works

if you want to get all technical, you can go on about how the distortion creates harmonics, undertones, whatever you want to call them, which fills out the sound so it functions like a chord, even though it might only have 2 notes played.

he's teaching good stuff, and yall are dorks for nit picking!

    METAL!

  • Give this dude a break,he's not trying to teach music theory and yes he's not actually playing chords. But he his trying to teach beginers or less advanced players some cool new ideas so they don't keep playing the same old bullshit over and over.Just another couple of colors in the crayon box man.

  • @Azo360 Yngwie Malmsteen? (Try to spell it phonetically!)

  • @sixpunder94 yeah i actually do pro. So there. If wanna play drums like portnoy and ill teach and if u wanna play like Satriani and ill teach u. Im just that guy

  • U KICK ASS !!!! :)

  • i like how he doesn't really play a single chord in the video...chords are 3 notes or more...

  • @oakenguitar3 I think that that depends on who you ask

  • @Esuohretep hes playing dyads or harmonic intervals like 3rds 4ths and 6ths...power chords are not really chords either. the purpose of this video is to show how to play cool stuff and not really tell you the theory behind it

  • 0:45 da da da

  • Lame

  • @krisgraves69 lame? so im guessing that you can teach people how to make their music sound better?

  • Awesome

  • bleh

  • thanks mike, I've been loving the vids, great job!

  • loving the guitar strap!!

    Bm3rd

    Am6th

  • Mike cool Shirt man , i thought those were actuall bullet chains :O

  • @anonymusneo me too I thought that at the start :P

  • this fucking rocks,man.

i hate the current poser scene with all these clone bands with the same riffs,copy-paste protools and drum machine sound and over-the-top ridiculous crap.i wonder if they even know how to downpick?

the old discipline of downpicking and riff creativity needs to be kept alive.thx, metal mike.cool vid!

  • I learned the A minor scale :D and found this grouping here :D He's so excited about the most simple of music theory. Gah, he just perpetuates the stereotype of metal heads - > musical morons

  • @MrPintGlass My words exactly man :D! Making chords with the notes from the scale is one of the most simple things ever and everyone here is like: Great ideas man :P

  • MY HORSE MAKES MY PLAYING FASTER AWAYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • @magickillermonkey legend!

  • Good ideas..

  • I CAPSLOCKCIDLY disapprove strongly of vampire's with rifle ammo.

  • from this lesson, I now know how metal started to water down with that screamo shit that's out now a days. Also, anyone with a brain could of noticed those patterns. That's another thing I hate about posers, they have no creativity. It's almost as everything has to be taught to them.

  • beautiful melody

  • This is amazing !!!!!!!

  • sucks...

  • Your goatee is a little of center LOL!!!

  • @rippedwarrior69

dude, not only is that metal, but it looks straight when he is looking at his guitar. :P

  • It's funny no lesson in youtube tells the exac notes or tabs for progressions anymore. I mean for me it's no vbi deal i just improvise but for begginners it mgiht be an issue.

  • @MetallicAciDD the tabs are in the issue this lesson is in

  • @DEANVX93 Hmmm, well sadly my country doesn't sell this amazing magazine, thats too bad. Hey Mike you should explain tritones (diminished and augmented) great for todays extreme metal!!

  • is that a hydralisk tattoo on his right arm?

  • @Azo360 no haha

  • hi i'm metal mike and i'm going to teach you how to be the most generic cookie cutter 80's metal guitar player alive

  • I like Mikes lessons. They're structured well while still being simple. Anyone who doesn't like this video is probably a theory snob (don't get me wrong, I do study theory, I'm just not pretentious, hence this message) who thinks that if they aren't the only one who understands it then it's obviously bad and therefore stupid.

  • @Azo360 Death Metal Dan.

  • @Azo360 Deathcore Dave

  • metal mike knows nothing about theory and sucks at teaching!

  • @jorgeguerra777 Theory isnt necessary....A LOT of awesome guitar players and musician doesnt know anything bout theory dude...

  • @666Psyopus666 yeah i understand and trust me i wasnt huge into theory a few years back. but honestly this guy cannot teach

  • @Azo360 Awesome Metal Mike!

  • @evilspro I forgot the bending note a the end.. like pouiiiiiiiiiiouiiiiiiii!

  • I used to have a pipe named Metal Mike lol

  • @Azo360 Baron Longrod von Hugendong?

  • LOL today i realised that the bullet chains are actually not real but only a graphic on his tshirt! and ive seen the 1st vid

  • @Olpaj same here

  • @Azo360 Iron Mike? XD

  • sounds like a power metal riff! cool video dude, keep um coming :)

  • ...if only we had this guy when i was learning... he's showing awesome shit but sadly i'm not learning anything because i've studied metal for 2 years and kinda know all the rhythm tricks.

but this guy is great for beginners or people first venturing into metal method. i wish this guy was making videos 2 years ago. he's sorta the Keith Wyatt of metal.

  • @Azo360 Yea Ron Jarzombek

  • @Azo360 well... i do know a Mike Metal.

  • COOL VID

  • METAL MIKE OH LOOK HE'S SO METAL! JACKSON! TATS! BULLET VEST T-SHIRT..

  • @metalhead9167 yeah it's really cool! not...

  • Nice Cereal Box Tattoos Metal Mike!

  • thats a cool riff.. its sounds like 80s

  • 0:47 DADADADADA

  • change your t shirt

  • powerchords-based heavy metal is so boring...

  • @NonEternal Agreed

  • 2:25 makes me think of Dethklok

  • @sdc777rs Let me guess, "Go Into The Water"? I thought the same thing.

  • Cool lesson, great tone.

  • I want that shirt

  • @connorgow and i want that guitar !

  • This was actually something i learned from!

  • @Azo360 plastic kevin ..

  • @Azo360 Chuck Norris maybe

  • That's frikkin' awesome.

  • He looks way too clean ....

  • Hummm...to hear more of this power chord changes, just listen to Immortal´s- At the Heart of Winter...especially Withstand the Fall of Time.Abbath (amongst others) is a master at this type of playing.

    Cheers

  • Jackson "Ferrari / Randy Rhoads"

  • dave mustaine cords

  • @ZideEfekt or so dave would say

  • @ZideEfekt haha not dave mustaine 's but mustaine's favourites. Hes a damn genius

  • RAT'S "LAY IT DOWN" IS A NICE GROUP

  • I want that T-shirt dude D:

  • I love your guitar !! =D

  • I've been watching this guy's vids for weeks now, and this is the first time I've noticed that these bullet belts are actually his t-shirt!

  • @MrNeosantana mind=blown haha

  • @MrNeosantana Really? wtf lol it looks 3d

  • @MetallicAciDD EXACTLY

  • now for my ACTUAL input on this video. lol

    I own 2 Jacksons

one of them is a Randy Rhoads Polka Dot i bought from some guy who was GIVING it away!

  • Does anyone know which amp and pickups does he use?Great tone btw...

  • @TheStavrin Well the pickups say Seymour Duncan for sure,so my guess would be a JB in the bridge and maybe a 59 in the neck since those are pretty popular, especially in Jackson's.I think I remember seeing him play the EVH 5150 III somewhere.

  • Want even more ideas? try doing the same thing, but in drop D. Even more choices!

  • OR WE CAN ALL SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ENJOY THE VIDEO

  • Simple, but has a nice layer of depth to it. My guitar likes it.

  • Nice! Sounds medieval and certainly adds a lot of flavor to rhythm playing.

  • ok

  • is that jackson from 80s?

  • @Azo360 Ron Jeremy maybe haha

  • Comment removed

  • @kurtcobain804 fail

  • first trolololol

  • @skate4lifebit Dick.

  • @londonkol Me? being a dick, i think not. Just suggesting names

  • @skate4lifebit Is that all you do? Sit down and watch your video feed for new videos JUST so you can go and say "First comment! Whoo!" or something of the like? As I said on a different video, at least take some effort to comment based on what you just watched.

  • @ryane323 actually no that is not all I do, but I understand the HATRED for trolls, I hate them as well believe me. Dont make assumptions okay?

  • @skate4lifebit If you hate trolls, then why do what a troll does? Seems a bit hypocritical to me

  • @ryane323 Well maybe i should have made it more clear in my comment then..I was intentionally making fun of trolls, because I would figure people would have the maturity to look at their actions and be able to make fun of them and not be so butt hurt about a comment such as mine. I'll be sure to clarify more next time okay bud?

  • @skate4lifebit Nah, it's cool man. I do agree that a little more clarification would have been nice. That being said, no hard feelings. It's just one of my pet peeves - seeing shit comments on videos like this ya know? I came to watch a cool guitar video and maybe see some FUNNY comments, like "25% better than John 4" as seen on some John5 video lessons. Stupid ones like "First!" annoy the living crap outta me

  • @ryane323 haha i agree :]

    Cheers mate
