THANK YOU!!!!!! I WATCHED THIS WHEN IT FIRST AIRED ON THE BBC IN THE UK & HAVEN'T SEEN IT SINCE MY OLD VHS TAPE WORE OUT! I AM A METAL HEAD AT HEART, BUT KNOW WHERE TALENT/INSPIRATION ALL STEMS FROM, & AS FAR AS ACOUSTIC TALENT & EMOTION IN SONGWRITING GOES, JT IS THE TOP DOG! SO SO HAPPY NOW! YAY!
Im guessing this was 1992, maybe 1991....maybe even 1990 ?? Judging by the fasions of the back up singers etc......- great times back then.....compared to now? Shit, anything compared to now is considered "great times"............
Hiya guys, would just like to say, I know it's not that important, but I'm an English guy, and it makes me so proud to think that we helped him a bit to get so successful. I have listened to him all my life, and his music is timeless. Love him. Thanks James.
@16forever : Im guessing this is early to mid 90's - I believe Ian Stewart had passed at that point......I could be wrong - the guy does look like him, but I dont think Ian ever let his hair get that long & was a bit more bigger/stocky in stature.......

This man is a TRUE talent ... his voice never changes and his songs are never changed as the world changes ... I would love to someday see him in concert ... his songs just send me into a peaceful state of mind ...
Yep, he's a great performer! My husband thought he was on his last song when he did his encore, and I swear it was like a mini-concert after the regular concert. Really gave his all for the audience :)
I lucked out with 6th row floor seats to see the JT/CK Troubador show. JT is one of our national treasures. Seeing one of his shows should be on your bucket list if you are a fan of his music.
@beemer4me4u You and jrsn2... should have ended your comments with: A) "Can I get a witness?", my personal favorite; B) "Can I get an Amen?" - To either of which I would have responded with: "Uh huh! That's right! Amen brother!" I've been fortunate enough to have seen him twice, and if you are a real fan you must see him do "Steamroller Blues" in person. If you don't you are missing one of life's most sublime pleasures. Can I get a witness?
@gvzmontanosa "Uh huh! That's right! Amen brother!" I have tickets to see JT with special guest Ben Taylor in a few weeks! Can't wait!! Thanks for watching!
James Taylor is in the ranks of my favorite musical artist of all time...along with Stevie wonder and "older" Michael Jackson. Love both these songs and both versions are killer. Sat here in awe and had to watch both again. Awesome 5 star upload!!
Remember seeing the whole video, it was on tv some yrs ago thats wen i noticed Carlos Vega! i thought 'now thats a cool drummer' brilliant style he had soooooo fckn coooooooool!! became a huge influence on my playing...what a sad miss he is for me and many other drummers, but hey at least he left us so much eh!?
This is Easily my Favourite Version of Your Smiling Face ever. Its soooo gooood especially when his voice goes high when he sings the second verse, soo good!
I met him at the Home Shopping Club concert he did to sell his new "Covers" album. He did a little meet and greet after and signed autographs for everyone. Got my picture with him too. Nice guy. Awesome concert. Steve Gadd on drums.
Tight! I used to have this recording on tape! I have since lost it, but now that you uploaded it, I can see this finally again! Thank you SOOOOOO much for uploading this!!!!!!!
You wouldn't have the clip of the song "Country Road" from this same video would you?? Carlos Vega (the drummer...RIP) does an awesome job in that song...It's super cool ...
I remember seeing this aired on PBS or something several years ago...

I have been a JT fan for 40 years. He has had so many wonderful songs but this is one of my most favorites!
Bryan Adams always said he warmed up his voice before a show by singing JT tunes.
