Hi is it possible to create your own patches using this and to save them on the computer? Is there a software for computer to emulate this in my virtual daw? (cubase 5)
Also I'm wondering does this allow for synthesis, like loading a sine/ square/ sawtooth and editing it from scratch to make my own samples?
Yes, you have all posibilities. The software come right with the virus or can be downloaded in newest version from the access virus homepage as well (for free of course). It allows do create sounds from scratch or to modify existing ones.
@NoLie6 Since you replied a few minutes ago, I would like to ask you another question if its possible.
Since you mentioned the software plugins. Are these the same from the TC powercore plugin set? Because one of the things I want is to get that famed Access Virus Vst ( it has a red circlish... interface with some wonderful patches along the way)
Because I'm at the stage wondering whether to buy such a device (tc powercore) or the Access. If I can do similar with both, just wondering, thanks
If interested for more, please listen to my tracks I've done since them: - Complex - Droix - Dream of electrostatic - Observer - Sleep by windows - Scanner
There are 1024 (512 Ram und 512 Rom) presets, which can be selected without a pc. But there are several thousands (free and comerical) preset available out there, which can be simultaneously used with a pc or which can be loaded at the virus snow for later use without pc.
You can use the virus without computer, just connecting it with a midi keyboard. There a complete configurable midi keyboard where you can setup knobs with certain virus functions (via midi sys ex commands). When connected to a computer you can add the virus as an vst instrument into any sequencer programm.
You do not need a computer. You can just use a midi keyboard to play the preset of the virus. It is also possible to just use stereo audio input and run it through the effects sections (reverb,chorus,echo,eq,...) of the virus.
I have to admit that I have stolen that chord sequence from the great master here called keybdwizrd (check him out!). Basically its C - g - C - AIS - GIS - AIS - C. With the upper hand sometimes a slight chord change is added, but I do not know their special name (e.g. C7, ...).
@NoLie6 How many sounds can you run simultaneously as a VST without bouncing them down to audio. Can I have as many midi tracks as I want running at the same time all using the Virus? or do you have to bounce them down to audio
great video.. I'm thinking about getting a SNOW.. just havent used a virus before.. I have a Korg R3 and Electribe EMX1 - how does the Snow integrate to this? Is it via MIDI or is it phono balanced line in/out ?
any info would be appreciated, as to connecting/configuring this.. so that I can make the right choice. Cheers!
Hello guys, I mentioned this some comments before. The snow has four nobs underneath where it normal stands on. At the keyboard there is a flute as you can see, where the front knobs are fixed. The nobs behind stand on an original Gary Numan VHS videobox (Dream Corrosion). But I am searching for a better solutionm, maybe a kind of rack.
Sorry about that. I didn't realize you commented on that already. I currently don't have a snow, but want one. I currently use a box for DAW software to hold up my laptop and may do something similar for the snow unless I can get a rack or stand of some kind. But its so portable, so I'm sure something can be easily arranged.
Well why have you bought the snow? Beacuse it's cheap compared the the other ones? the handling is shit isn't it? And i don't think it looks good. I would have waited and bought at least the desktop version to get more controllers and a better overview. no offence ;) just a opinion
Yes indeed it was the price because I bought it. Assume I am not a professional, nor an semi-professional musician. And for me 1000 euros (snow) or 1600 euros (desktop) makes a difference. By the way most people controlling the virus synthesizer from pc. And because the snow is also TI (totall integrated) you have a great GUI for all the virus parameters.
I must say that this first preview does not really show the capacity of this synth. At that point it was still very new to me. Therefore please listen to my tracks I produced with it to get a better idea whats possible!
how have you mounted the module over the synth, that looks like a really sturdy bracket you've got there!
I've considered buying one of the desktop modules to use live, but I'm put off by the ungainly set-up involved in trying to mount the module either next to the keyboard or wasting a whole shelf of the stand by putting it above
Well, I am not too deep in that music? But everywhere you can read that the access virus is well known for that kind of music (e.g. hypersaw patches). Using the virus as vsti plugin in a sequencer you have an unlimited range of patches. If you like using real knobs and your budget is not limited you should take the desktop version. Look around here in youtube. I think there are some better presentations than mine here:-)
It's funny. The snow has four nobs underneath where it normal stands on. At the keyboard there is a flute as you can see, where the 2 nobs in front are fixed. The nobs behind stand on a original Gary Numan VHS Video Box ('Dream Corrosion'). Nice support:-)
This small box is not really cheap, but I thought in 19 years using the same keyboard I can afford it:-) But I didn't know how much new things I have to learn. I am only on the surface.
Is the keyboard any good, or only for midi and using with that thing? I have the same keyboard.

Thanks........congrats on getting it

Yes, it can act a vsti and it works over usb. Great feature which only few hardware synths provide.
