That's right, it's all about relationship. Jesus says, "that your joy may be complete." We think that making all our own choices is joy, freedom and fulfillment, when it is sorrow, bondage, and eternal loss. Yield to Jesus, and take it on faith that it is the most fulfilled life you can live.
The second verse I mentioned is Romans 6:23. God wants to reconcile you to himself so that you can enter his kingdom but it can ONLY happen through Jesus.

There is nothing that man can do for his salvation. It has been paid for 2000 years ago when Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. When Christ rose from the dead, he has given us a new life in Him. If you are Christian and you are still doubting if you are worthy then I think you should read your bible or this book Classic Christianity by Bob George. If you are a child of God he doesn't see your sin because of the blood shed for it. He sees his child that he wants to have a relationship with. That is why Christ had to die such a gruesome death.

Saying to God, "You are worthy of my praise," must make him feel SOOOOO much better. After all, our praise is worth SOOOO much, according to conservative Christianity. God says in the Ten Commandants that He is a jealous God and we are not to worship anything or anyone else. Salvation is not achieved through works, not through baptism, not by rituals, not even by faith! It is only through tithing that we are saved. God looks kindly upon those who give lots of money to His church.

He does give you choises, the way to God is through Jesus Christ. If you haven't made this choise to surrender to him, then your fate is doomed and will be left behind. He doesn't demand praise, that also is a choise, but by praising him it make him happy, the same way when some praises you you are happy. Thereal praise is staying on the path of his will and fully trying to be as Jesus was and Believing in his words. Thats the real worship.
If a supernatural entity did exist which was capable of creating the universe with all its countless billions of stars then.. why would it demand praise and worship?

Sometimes simplistic words say exactly what a person wants to say and for some people that is what this song is doing.

@joshuacilego The context i used that in was someone saying its our leading a good life that earned our way into heaven. It is Jesus death on the cross that pays our way into heaven, but we have to accept his gift and acknowledge him as our savior to receive eternal life.
Also that passage of scripture (Matt 7:15-23) is talking about False Prophets, All who truly accept him will get into heaven.

That's why we need him. He loves you whether or not you believe it but he demands perfection to enter Heaven because he is perfect. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 and "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Note it says "all have sinned" not "non believers". True Christianity isn't a religion its a relationship. Religions are about "do this" "don't do that". Christianity is about growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ.

As new creatures we are set free from sin and when the time comes for us to pay for our sin Jesus will have paid our debt so in that time our sin wont be seen. But on the earth we still have to battle with our sinful nature and because we are not God we will stumble at times.

What the writer means is that it's only by grace that we are saved. It's grace because we don't deserve to be saved. Only way someone can deserve to spend time with God is if they are perfect. And none of us are. We don't deserve salvation but it was still offered to us. To get this salvation you must first admin that you are not perfect and you have sinned, Beleave that Jesus Christ died on the cross to atone for your sin,and Ask Jesus to come into you heart and guide your life.
Continue to read the Bible. Even if sometimes you don't understand, press on. It will revealed to you in His word. He will also use circumstances and people in your life to help you. :") Keep the faith!

these songs brings back many resentments and bad memories of the church i use to go to in Mackenzie Bc Canada. They were annoyed by my questions on certain matters where i could not find peace with. They more or less left me out hanged and dried. Dont worry...I have a new Life with Christ. I am called to build a new church where there is no more tithes and offerings. Hoping I can help my Lord to bring back the lost sheep.
God bless you in your endeavors. A young Pastor friend has stopped taking offerings years back and seen his congregation multiply in body and in spirit. they have a donation chest in the foyer for those who wish to support the Church.
That is interesting. I attended a messianic synagogue up in Dallas that never passed the plate; instead they had "tzedakah" boxes on the walls for people to leave their tithes and offerings whenever they pleased. The congregation is huge now and has a beautiful building. I still feel uncomfortable now whenever I go to a church and they pass around the plate. Where in the world did that originate anyway?
you dont have to not take tithes and offerings. Just love the people and dont beg them and they will want to support what God is doing through you and others there. And have 5 fold leadeship

Saying to God, "You are worthy of my praise," must make him feel SOOOOO much better. After all, our praise is worth SOOOO much, according to conservative Christianity. Folks, let's stop flattering ourselves into thinking that our praise can make God bigger -- or worse, that our lack of praise can diminish him. Get a life.

@betterntv The message here isn't the whether my praise or the lack thereof will make God any greater or lesser. God requires all of our praise. God says in the Ten Commandants that He is a jealous God and we are not to worship anything or anyone else. The message of this song is acknowledging that He is worthy and that all my praise is His and only His.

Sometimes I wonder if one day when we're standing in front of the Almighty if we really will babble on and on like these songs do, or if we'll just stand there stupefied and speechless. Bet our praise won't be worth much while we're standing there trying to comprehend what our Sunday School classes have told us is incomprehensible.

I never hear praise songs that ask such piercing queries as "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" or other expressions of lament ... or the eco-theological challenge, "The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it." ... or one concerned with socio-economic justice: "... the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me, those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches"

He does give you choises, the way to God is through Jesus Christ. If you haven't made this choise to surrender to him, then your fate is doomed and will be left behind. He doesn't demand praise, that also is a choise, but by praising him it make him happy, the same way when some praises you you are happy. Thereal praise is staying on the path of his will and fully trying to be as Jesus was and Believing in his words. Thats the real worship.

Sometimes simplistic words say exactly what a person wants to say and for some people that is what this song is doing.

God cannot abide sin. Therefore he gave us a way to be cleansed from it...Jesus Christ and his sacrifice. But in order to appropriate it we are required to believe that Jesus actually did it. If your dad told you you could do/have something special if you did what he told you and you disobeyed him..would you still receive the reward?Our heavenly father is no different. He requires faith in Jesus and a turning away from our sins...the reward is eternal life.The choice is yours He won't force you.

Not exactly, We go to heaven because we accept jesus. Not because we live a good life. But because we accept jesus and grow in a relationship out of an overflow we begin to start living a good life. it does matter how hard you try, we cant try hard enough or do good enough. thats why his grace is so amazing.

It is not our accepting Jesus that lets us into heaven. It is Jesus accepting us. He'll be the Judge of who's in and who's not. ...not everyone who calls me Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom of God.

@joshuacilego The context i used that in was someone saying its our leading a good life that earned our way into heaven. It is Jesus death on the cross that pays our way into heaven, but we have to accept his gift and acknowledge him as our savior to receive eternal life.
Also that passage of scripture (Matt 7:15-23) is talking about False Prophets, All who truly accept him will get into heaven.

God is omnipresent and always with us! we dont need to be rewarded for our sin and that is why heaven is a scam. The bible itself is not in whole if you know the history... well ya. @graffiti36 God doesn't want you to "live a life of servitude" because you are"doomed" to do so. He wants you to understand that his standard is perfection and only Jesus lived a perfect life. That's why we need him. He loves you whether or not you believe it but he demands perfection to enter Heaven because he is perfect. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 and "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Note it says "all have sinned" not "non believers". True Christianity isn't a religion its a relationship. Religions are about "do this" "don't do that". Christianity is about growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ.
We choose to try and be like Jesus because we love him. Not because we must.

As new creatures we are set free from sin and when the time comes for us to pay for our sin Jesus will have paid our debt so in that time our sin wont be seen. But on the earth we still have to battle with our sinful nature and because we are not God we will stumble at times.
P.S. My first message was talking to somebody explaining that we cant get to heaven off of good deeds alone.

What the writer means is that it's only by grace that we are saved. It's grace because we don't deserve to be saved. Only way someone can deserve to spend time with God is if they are perfect. And none of us are. We don't deserve salvation but it was still offered to us. To get this salvation you must first admin that you are not perfect and you have sinned, Beleave that Jesus Christ died on the cross to atone for your sin,and Ask Jesus to come into you heart and guide your life.

these songs brings back many resentments and bad memories of the church i use to go to in Mackenzie Bc Canada. They were annoyed by my questions on certain matters where i could not find peace with. They more or less left me out hanged and dried. Dont worry...I have a new Life with Christ. I am called to build a new church where there is no more tithes and offerings. Hoping I can help my Lord to bring back the lost sheep.

That is interesting. I attended a messianic synagogue up in Dallas that never passed the plate; instead they had "tzedakah" boxes on the walls for people to leave their tithes and offerings whenever they pleased. The congregation is huge now and has a beautiful building. I still feel uncomfortable now whenever I go to a church and they pass around the plate. Where in the world did that originate anyway?
