Love this video. I'm not a Muslim myself, but I'm so fascinated by the writing, the chanting, it's beautiful to hear, and the signing (being a trainee interpreter) only adds to my vocabulary and gave me an insight to what Islam believes. A lovely video :)
MashAllah so beautifully i am really attached by it. Beautiful voice and beautiful sign language. What he did was right purely true. As i am deaf too and understand very well. subhannAllah
haha I can't believe someone has the nerve to criticize this BSL Adhan video because he "dislikes" the sign for ALLAH, which is pointed upward... This is SIGN LANGUAGE, this is how we Deaf folks express ourselves. We express ourselves differently from hearing Muslims! So we're not allowed to express our love for Allah in sign language because of the sign pointed upward??? Get over it and get a life!!!
Salaam alaikum, brothers can you please tell me how to post videos on facebook? because i want to post this video on facebook so people can see this wonderfull adhan.

'My neighbour told me that pointing upwards is how you sign Allah in the British Sign Language, it reminded me of the time of the Prophet where the girl who couldn’t speak pointed upwards.' - something a dear friend said.

Allah (swt) has no place of living. That is a human characteristic, and a characteristic of Allah's creations; and Allah is much greater and far different than his creation. So by the hand gesture pointing to the sky whenever it says Allah in the adhan suggests that he exists in the sky, it makes it seem as though he posses a similar to that of his creation (astagfirullah). Therefore, i dislike this.
@TheRealIsshh (continued...) Also please bear in mind this in SIGN LANGUAGE these are people who do not have the ability to speak... Hence it is to cater for their needs in way which upholds Sunni belief and conveys to them a clear message.
For many deaf people they understand that such gesturing does not signify Allah literally being in a place.
@TheRealIsshh (continued...) The adhan is a type of supplicating for you are praising Allah and after which it is sunnah to make supplication
Therefore the pointing to the sky is not to put Allah in a place but rather Affirm that he is beyond place and too great to be in one, for the act of point up also indicates that which is limitless.
@TheRealIsshh (continued...) As Imam Nawawi states, ' .... Allah alone and is the One called upon when a person makes supplication (du'a) faces the sky, just as those performing the prayer (salat) face the Kabah, since the sky is the qiblah of those who supplicate, as the Kabah is the qiblah of those who perform the prayer...'
@TheRealIsshh Thank you for your post, and highlighting the fact that Allah is not in a direction, or a specific place, for He is the creator of direction and time. However the act of pointing to the sky is not placing Allah in the sky literally, rather saying that Allah the Most Lofty and High is beyond creation i.e. not part of it.
@TheRealIsshh By that same logic, saying the word, "Allah", would also be wrong because He cannot be bound by the confines of our language and limited understanding.
I would kindly add here that when the Prophet Muhammad of Islam, peace be upon him, was alive, some thought a mute woman was not a Muslim - she could not declare her belief. They brought her to the Prophet Muhamamd who asked her "Who is your Lord?" And she pointed to the sky. He asked her, "Who is your teacher/prophet?" And she pointed to the sky and swung her arm down to point at the Prophet.
She was a Muslim through sign language. It is part of Islam's faith.

@TheRealIsshh "Muawiyah bin Al-Hakam As-Salmi said:"I had a slave-girl who used to herd sheep for me. One day I discovered that a wolf had killed one of her sheep, and I'm a man from the children of Adam, I get upset like they get upset, and I slapped her in the face. Then I went to the Prophet who impressed upon me the seriousness of my act. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, should I not set her free?' He said, 'Bring her to me.' He asked her, 'Where is Allah'
' He asked her, 'Where is Allah', She said, 'He is above the heavens.' He said, 'Who am I?' She said, 'You are the Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Free her, for she is a believer.' (Muslim and Abu Dawud)
@TheRealIsshh - It is the way of mu'tazila to utter such statements brother, let us just stick to waht the Allah swt and his messenger taught us. Such philosophy opens up to wahdatul wujud brother, and remember Shaitan is cunning, an enemy, aduwwun mubeen. First he,la'natullahi alaih, attacks the aqeeda, then the muslim starts to abandon hadith, later on the door to munkar will be wide open, and deviation. Salam!
@TheRealIsshh Great points made by alisharauk. And also in hearing culture, when asked where is God, people point to the sky or refer to somewhere up high. Heaven is refered to by hearing people, and signed by Deaf people, as being up high as well. Therefore your comment hasn't got a leg to stand on, cuz everyone , Deaf and hearing, refers to God, Allah, or any other god, in the sky's direction.
