Peter Doherty is the real deal... he captivates! You want to listen to his words because they actually say something, you want to hear the music and his voice because they sound great, and you want to watch him sing his songs because it doesn't seem like a pre-planned act. TALENT - at its finest! I agree with losthobit on the top comment - he does keep getting better and better...
saw an early live performance vid on here and before the song he explains where the term came from. as i recall, he basically said they were males for hire from the 1930s. seems likely they could be found around Piccadilly, hence the name. i'm not british either, so if anyone else cares to elaborate with more or better info… please feel free to do so.
@superyoy0 - I'm not English either but as far as I can tell it's a slang-name given to guys from Picadilly, London. I don't know much about Picadilly but what I do know is that it is famous for it's markets! But in saying that, I could be completely wrong about all of the above! :)
