  • I think this man may have the record for most times playing letterman, Healers, Cribs, Modest Mouse, Smiths? He's historic.

  • Nice coat Johnny! Living up to the stereotypical Mancunian front man image a bit there...

  • 1:23 what in god's name was that?

  • @GuitarnPiano Sounds like there's some backward reverb trailing up to the start of some of the vocal lines. There's also some vocal harmonies in places but I only see one mic up there. They're most likely playing to a backing track.

  • @robo9hobo The bass player has a mic. And ever heard of sound effects? They can do more surprising things than backwards reverb.

  • @L7blackwhite Ah yes I see the other mic now. What do you think the sound effects are? There is definitely some weirdness going on. Maybe they are triggered samples and not a backing track.

  • @robo9hobo this is definitely live, there're two mics and maybe they just had the backward reverb pre recorded. I was just refering to johnny's mini insanely cool solo.

  • what a genius is johnny marr!!!

  • johnny marr is one cool guy. cant you get the album anywhere?

  • i like johnny marr but really everything he's done since the smiths is just marking time. i know he's a good musician but what guitar licks has he written since the smiths that sticks in your head? probably nothing. even the cool modest mouse licks from float on were written before he got there. he played with good bands because they respect his playing, but his writing is not what it was. as far as moving around, who cares, ric ocasek never moved and he still married paulina porizkova.

  • @sabaqat we share the same skies by the cribs is a good riff.

  • @braddersthemod you are completely right! i just heard that song for the first time. amazing, just like the old days, except the singer's not as good as morrissey and the lyrics just seem pretty bad, but the guitar is really amazing and the singing and lyric-writing aren't marr's fault anyway. thank you, i've been looking for good stuff by marr other than the smiths stuff. are there any other good songs? maybe i'll start listening to the cribs.

  • @sabaqat yeah, the whole of the album he did with the cribs is good, I agree the singing and lyrics ar'nt great, but marrs playing is pure class, well worth a listen just for that realy. His playing on the cribs record reminds me of his style on the hatful of hollow album, ( the best smiths album imho)

  • @sabaqat listen to the last albhum by the cribs and modest mouse..... there´s real good stuff, you can also listen to electronic with Johnnny in it. Youtube cheat on me by the cribs.........

  • Marr does an alright job as a frontman and the guitar fills live up to his reputation. I can't help to dislike the song itself, though. Even Zak Starkey, easily one of the best English drummers in the world at the moment, can't liven it up.

I much prefer Marr's work with Modest Mouse, if we're talking about stuff from the last 10 years.

  • theres nothing marr cant do. musicaly he is that good

  • What the...? I luv this dude. But, hey, ya gotta sellout sometime I guess.

  • johnny marr is equipped with the right gear!

  • he does fine as a front man. people dont need to jump up and down and put on a show, but thats just me. he needs to just do his own thing. i dont really get modest mouse. and yes i know im probably the only one that thinks that.

  • Cool basterd Johnny
