@davidgoeswest I put the videos on YouTube when I sold it. I spent all my money to restore it and felt it deserved a better storage garage then I could provide so I sold it.. I did it more to restore one to this level since very few people would put the time and money into one of these cars. Hopefully it will live for many generations to come.
Great job on the sprite. I have 3 triing to make two good-uns. That little jewel needs a rompus in the rocky mountains. The ozarks are teazers. Glad you kept the 948. Good Job.
Thank you so very much for your prompt reply back to my initial inquiry. I appreciate it.
Please keep me updated as to your intentions on what exactly you plan on doing with your Midget. Since I first saw the video of your car, I think I have watched it at least a dozen times!
Both my older brothers had Midgets - 63 and 64- the 63 had been owned previously by a friend of my dad's who drove it in gymkhanas - it was Old English Ivory with red interior and white piping exactly like yours. I wish we still had them.
Did you do all the restoration work on it yourself? if you ever want to sell it, please contact me first.
Enjoy your Midget - one of the nicest original sportscars ever made.
Thanks. I did do all the work except for the machine work on the engine, chrome and I had a company make the seat covers and panels. It actually has gray piping which was how it came from the factory (1963 only) and had to have that custom made. I am considering selling it and was thinking of running it on Ebay in a week or so. I will let you know when I do. Thanks again, Matt
Cool. Our second car was a 63 British Racing Green Midget with black interior. Our best friends had a 62 Sprite and we went on a lot of rally's together. They were fun cars! Thanks for sharing.
I have also a 63 Midget but prepared in Uk in the 60's for racing, you can have a look to my video if u are interested by the sound of a street racing Midget ;-)
A beautiful example of one the best little sports cars ever built. Well done RestorerMatt. I was wondering how much work you had to do to the body? I live in the UK and have restored and owned 3 67 Midgets - currently own a 74 MGB Roadster, our problem is always rust! Awful stuff and costly to put right. Like the stand you used to support the car during restoration - did you make it yourself?
Hi tallbigpaul,The original body was very rusty but I found a rust free body shell (noted on the body shell video opening). The Midget/Sprites are very prone to rust here also and finding such a solid body is what inspired me to do a concourse restoration. I bought the rotissieri and have used it on a few cars and trucks.
Beautiful Midget. Any chance you would sell it?

and shows just how solid the old horses were
did you use the original engine?
did the missing air filters let water into the cylinders?
nice job Matt

Ooooh Mat- that's a fine job there mate ;-)
If you could get hold of a white steering wheel i think this would be the only improvement that could be made to this perfect car!!
You must be a perfectionist to take that rusty lump and turning it into a concours class motor.....
