Oh my god... I'm so tired of games being fashioned for children. Not to say they don't have their place, innocence is great, but sometimes you want something darker. Shadowrun for the Snes anyone? Terranigma? Illusion of Gaia? FALLOUT 1&2&3?!?! New Vegas isn't worth speaking of. >.> Nintendo sure has gone downhill since the GBA.
@xTHExFALLx I think if they were going to bring an Okami game to 3DS, they'd likely port the original Okami. This game, however, can still be played on 3DS, but of course, it plays as a DS game without any enhancements.
What made the first one unique and stunning were the visuals. This looks like a major down-grade, even if it IS impressive for the DS. Not to mention, when I finished Okami, I wanted to continue on the celestial plane. Not re-visit everything I'd already seen. I wanted new places to explore, new people to talk to! Not just the same-old-same-old with a different wolf. And who had the bright idea to make it a puppy anyway?...
@CrowSongProductions Well, I won't disagree with you in saying that the visuals (as well as the audio) were a big part of what made the experience so special, but I wouldn't say this is "abominable." I'm glad to be able to have at least a semblance of that world I can take with me on the go, and I think the touch screen is the perfect interface for the gameplay.

@irpacynot hmm, having to use the buttons to do the base fighting with the buttons, then having to be quick to pull out the stylus to do the drawing seems like it would have you fumbling around with the ds in hand while you struggle to get the stylus out. I'm really curious to how okamiden will playout with the controls but I'm all for the ds since that's the only handheld system i have XD
@irpacynot the psp control layout is better then the DS's. OK you can draw with the touch screen but thats it. just because it doenst have a touchscreen doesnt mean its not better. it didnt stop the ps2 Okami from being a hit. And the user base of the DS is filled with little kids not serious gamers

@irpacynot I agree with you, but mostly all way to put it out, it's good or bad based on the opinion of the person who plays it. Judging from the psp layout though in my opinion, I can't really see how well the controls would do, but we'll see when it finally arrives.
@TheAlienrainbow Ahahaha, that's a laugh. Every gamer at my college owns a DS, only two of them own a PSP. In my opinion, the PSP was made so players would have to buy another console. All the games for the PSP could just be carbon Copied to the PS2, but you can't say that for the DS to the Wii. Furthermore, the reason it's being released for the DS is because it's a hell of a lot easier to touch to draw than move the control stick to draw, and they're targeting both kid gamers and older gamers.

Not actually certain that Ami is supposed to be the mother of Chibiterasu. I don't think the true nature of their relationship has yet been revealed. But remember, they're gods. The whole procreation thing works for them with a different set of rules. ;)
@irpacynot In one of the gameinformer issues, they have a page based on this game. The summary was that Amaterasu had a pup, and Susano had a son. A few months later evil restores it's power (as usual) and another montage of imp-killing begins. So "Chibiterasu", "Okamiden", whatever this little pup's name shall turn out to be, is Amaterasu's son or daughter.

I loved the 1st Okami, if I had a DS I'd buy this one in a heartbeat, but I wonder what the plots about. Why does Ammy need to send her child back to earth? and does (s)he already have all the powers? no reason (s)he shouldn't.
I'm iffy about this sequel. My idea for a sequel was you play as Ammy on the celestial plane and fight some new evil that had taken over in Ammy's absence. I'll wait until more videos are released before I judge this game too much.
Well, there are a handful of DSi-exclusives in the work, outside of the obvious DSiWare, but for publishers are sticking to games that will play on all iterations of the DS. I think it's a sure bet, we'll see it stay that way, too. My guess is, the DSi will end up like the Gameboy Micro, and by next E3 we'll start hearing about the rumblings of a true next-gen DS.
Agreed. Personally, I don't need the DS to go beyond what's doing now graphically for it to be an enjoyable gaming system on the go. The only thing I would like to see improved in the future in that respect is the addition of texture filtering. But still, developers are now doing a much better job these days of working around that.
No.. Dude.. Sorry but you obviously dont know.. Thats like saying I would rather not update from ps2 ro ps3.. Graphics arent the only thing updated, the memory standards and processing power is also amped up ya know.. For example DS carts can hold 512 mb compared to how GBA carts old 7 mb, even if the graphics card were amped up on the gba to the DS's standards, the gba's games would be nowhere near on par to DS games.
@gtas123 Well, I think you missed my point. I was speaking specifically with regards to the visuals the system can put out. I'm well aware of the current specs of the DS, as well as the improved capacity of the DSi. Nevertheless, I don't need more from the DS, even in terms of processing power and storage capacity. When I look at a game like Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, or even this game for instance, I'm well satisfied with what can be done on the system.
this is just my opinion but what i find funny is that Okami took alot from the zelda series and then when TP came out it seemed ti rip off the whole wolf thing from okami, now watching this trailer it shows the little girl riding on the wolf and i couldnt help but think of midna, why dont they stop beating round the bush and make a zelda/okami game already ! lol
Actually, Issun is a boy, and he also rode "the wolf" in the first Okami, so it's not a new mechanic. In the first one, he was tiny for most of the game (a la Tinkerbell), and you just see him better in this game.
Yeah your right. I knew the (I think creator or designer, forget) was really into Zelda, so he made it Zeldaish. But than when I started thinking about it, Okami and TP were a LOT alike, not just in the wolf thing but the battles too (at least with the shadow monster things. Your in a "arena" when you fight them, like in Okami.) But I just had to point out one thing xD: That is not a girl! I read somewhere that's Susano's son.

His name is actually Chibiterasu (little wolf). Not sure yet what his relationship is to Amaterasu, but I think the game is supposed to take place some months after the end of the first.
If it was being farmed out, I'd be dismayed too. But Capcom usually do a great job with anything developed in-house. Sure, Clover were great, and Okami ultimately is their baby, but I still have high hopes for the game. It might not have the same magic, but it will still be nice to have a portable Okami.
Because Clover Studios were the main team behind Okami, you'd think that they would've been called upon to make an Okami sequel, instead of Capcom leaving them in the shadows. To me, it doesn't make sense.
I'm talking about the game play mechanics. The puzzles and basic idea to how to game progresses is quite similar to the zelda series. Not just cause they both happen to be wolves XD
How exactly is this a "sequel"? It looks pretty much like it'd have the same story line...?

I think the only info they've released so far is that the Japanese version will be released in2010, so it sounds like it's still pretty vague.

Lame ending translation I know but it's something along those lines; more trouble for poor Nippon.

I loved the 1st Okami, if I had a DS I'd buy this one in a heartbeat, but I wonder what the plots about. Why does Ammy need to send her child back to earth? and does (s)he already have all the powers? no reason (s)he shouldn't.

I'm iffy about this sequel. My idea for a sequel was you play as Ammy on the celestial plane and fight some new evil that had taken over in Ammy's absence. I'll wait until more videos are released before I judge this game too much.

Well, there are a handful of DSi-exclusives in the work, outside of the obvious DSiWare, but for publishers are sticking to games that will play on all iterations of the DS. I think it's a sure bet, we'll see it stay that way, too. My guess is, the DSi will end up like the Gameboy Micro, and by next E3 we'll start hearing about the rumblings of a true next-gen DS.

No, it's not. A demo was available at TGS, and it is playable on regular DS and DS Lite.

Dementuim is on the DS and ahs cut scenes and all, DS isnt a weak system AT ALL. its not a GBA

Agreed. Personally, I don't need the DS to go beyond what's doing now graphically for it to be an enjoyable gaming system on the go. The only thing I would like to see improved in the future in that respect is the addition of texture filtering. But still, developers are now doing a much better job these days of working around that.

No.. Dude.. Sorry but you obviously dont know.. Thats like saying I would rather not update from ps2 ro ps3.. Graphics arent the only thing updated, the memory standards and processing power is also amped up ya know.. For example DS carts can hold 512 mb compared to how GBA carts old 7 mb, even if the graphics card were amped up on the gba to the DS's standards, the gba's games would be nowhere near on par to DS games.

@gtas123 Well, I think you missed my point. I was speaking specifically with regards to the visuals the system can put out. I'm well aware of the current specs of the DS, as well as the improved capacity of the DSi. Nevertheless, I don't need more from the DS, even in terms of processing power and storage capacity. When I look at a game like Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, or even this game for instance, I'm well satisfied with what can be done on the system.

this is just my opinion but what i find funny is that Okami took alot from the zelda series and then when TP came out it seemed ti rip off the whole wolf thing from okami, now watching this trailer it shows the little girl riding on the wolf and i couldnt help but think of midna, why dont they stop beating round the bush and make a zelda/okami game already ! lol

Actually, Issun is a boy, and he also rode "the wolf" in the first Okami, so it's not a new mechanic. In the first one, he was tiny for most of the game (a la Tinkerbell), and you just see him better in this game.

Yeah your right. I knew the (I think creator or designer, forget) was really into Zelda, so he made it Zeldaish. But than when I started thinking about it, Okami and TP were a LOT alike, not just in the wolf thing but the battles too (at least with the shadow monster things. Your in a "arena" when you fight them, like in Okami.) But I just had to point out one thing xD: That is not a girl! I read somewhere that's Susano's son.

His name is actually Chibiterasu (little wolf). Not sure yet what his relationship is to Amaterasu, but I think the game is supposed to take place some months after the end of the first.

If it was being farmed out, I'd be dismayed too. But Capcom usually do a great job with anything developed in-house. Sure, Clover were great, and Okami ultimately is their baby, but I still have high hopes for the game. It might not have the same magic, but it will still be nice to have a portable Okami.

Because Clover Studios were the main team behind Okami, you'd think that they would've been called upon to make an Okami sequel, instead of Capcom leaving them in the shadows. To me, it doesn't make sense.

Okami isn't the least bit like Zelda.
