@annabessonova1986 It stood between Kabaeva and Kapranova to go to the olympics. The olympics would have been a disaster if Kabaeva entered, therefore they gave the bronze to Kapranova so she got a higher rank and got to go to the olympics in Beijing. If she hadn't gotten 3rd, Kabaeva would have entered.

and Kabaeva was completely lost in that competiton (that ribbon bronze she got was a joke) plus she didn´t even made the AA finals.

the rank didn´t matter when it came the moment to make the decision on who was going to the Olympics, if the rank of the worlds had mattered then Sessina would have gone to Beijing instead of Kapranova. (like it should have been)
