  • tapedata(dot)com for all your tape and media needs!

  • i thought HP tape drives are horrible

  • they are :P

  • I remember this tapes, just don't drop them or you might end up with stuck tape.

  • that sure is a fun looking piece of robotics :D only problem is all those moving parts seem susceptible to wear and failure :O

  • @pinkishblueblack i guess you can always load the tapes manually while waiting for it to be repair

  • That bottom metal track seems kind of jittery when it moves. Is that something that you can lubricate? I'm sure you could probably lubricate the top slide shaft as well. However, be sure & find out the correct type of lube or otherwise you'll have a giant mess on your hands.

  • what is this for?

  • mass data storage, these tapes can hold from 250 GB to 1TB of storage, they are more reliable then flash memory or hard drives, but they are expensive.

  • Good video. Very useful for teaching purposes.

  • That is a very neat interesting device! Neat to see the motors spin and the metal piece turn the cam around.

  • But these tapes are only used to store backups of important business data. I suppose you have a tape backup somewhere on your computer?

  • My computer doesn't have tape drives, but I've seen them before.

  • cool.
