Ignore the shallow criticism. Any idiot can come here making negative remarks. That was superb and you should feel (perhaps just a little bit!) proud of your ability to both learn and play this difficult piece to such a high standard.
Well done.
Maybe next time you could show us your face, such effort deserves recognition.
I was interested that you play with a band on your right wrist. I am nowhere near your level yet still too much of a diva (albeit a male one!) to be able to do that.
Yes, this etude is fantastically hard to muscle through... Mainly because the process of learning it requires an immense amount of patience. I'm four days in, and it's been alot of tedious exercises so far.
This is definitely not easy. My friend said, "oh, he made a mistake!" ... A mistake? I don't think anyone can play this etude without making mistakes. Even Valentina Lisitsa makes a mistakes.
few mistakes? Not accented enough? NOT FAST ENOUGH?!?!?! You are all crazy. This is a pretty tough song, and you cannot hear the accented notes AT ALL on my crappy piano. Mistakes are OK. My piano teacher released a CD with that song and that is great speed. And oh-by-the-way I just learned this song, so I know this song! GREAT JOB! (Man I wish I could play it like that)
Why do people keep calling these pieces songs? It's not a song! It's an etude, or - more generally - a piece. Schubert's Lindenbaum or Schumann's Mondnacht, now that's a song.
this was pretty good. just get ur hands a lil stronger and this will be great. try working out of the Hanon: Virtuostic Pianist book. they have some really really great arpegio excercises
you really think being fast is all there is to playing the piano? if you think so you are very wrong my friend. if you play the piano you either are forced to do it or you play with passion. I've been playing nearly all my life and i will continue to.
Please keep your petty "libely" comments to yourself if you are going to be a typical youtube couch critic. And make up your mind: He did great or didn't do great?
Beautiful. How did you survive the whole piece though? Fatigue and strain get the better of me about 2/3 of the way, so i have to compromise volume. Got any advice?
2 reasons for this... Either you're not good enough to play this, or your practice sucks. Pick one. Slow practice in really small increments over a long period of time should fix that. Keep in mind that the arpeggios do not "jump" the scaling arpeggios should be continuously legato, and there should not be any accents on the 5-1 switch. The motion is more of a caterpillaring. The hands should open and close.
I think you played it really well (who can pick out the mistakes unless you're a very avid music person/guy?) ; ditto to the person who was talking about melodic line, you can hear it, but a tad muffled.
I wish I could play as well as that, technically ; I'm horrible at these kind of highly technical songs. =]
Excellent. Just a few mistakes, but it's a very difficult piece. I'd like to hear it again, but a tiny bit slower. Just like Hanon, the Etudes are meant for "study". I've learned to practice slowly, to confirm each note precisely. You have good technique. Keep it up.
I like this, bud a couple of mistakes aren't bad. My favorite part has to be the beginning from the first set of notes to the next... the transition was nice.
Great job! keep it up. hope to see more in the future.
I can't hear the melodic line at all. Bring out the thumb by starting the accompanying quavers softly, just after each melodic note. Otherwise it's just lots of notes.
No. The accompaniment 'fuckin' covers the melody. Listen to the superb performance by David Edward Smith. He understands voicing in the old style. I can hear the melody start. I just can't hear it lasting, as it would with a singer. It's too heavy and doesn't 'ring'.

123mortimer,
For the same reason that little trivialities don't matter.

You're gay. Why do you idiots keep pointing this out whenever people call it a song. Does it really matter.
I suppose when you're stuck at grade 2 conservatory you need to boost your ego in any way possible.

But there are too many mistakes. Work it a little more before putting it online.

This is wonderful. I am not very familiar with this etude, but you have me fooled as I can hear no flaws in this. 5/5 stars.

oh wow, you really need to work on this. Its good overall, but not great. Here are some few suggestions -
1. You should slow down a bit~ makes it perfect
2. Think of emphasizing the Accents then the Melodic intervals and line will bring it out and more libely.
3. I dont know how you did this, i bet you were extremely tired.
GREAT JOB! THOUGH !!
