  • I just turned 50! After all these years, I still LOVE it!

  • Thanks for posting this. I loved it when my kids were small and love it still!

  • I...never thought I'd see this again.

  • I saw this for the first time since 1970-something, two days ago, and I could not for the life of me figure out why it was tugging at my heartstrings. The first thing I thought is that maybe on the day I saw it back then, something sad happened and my brain was subconsciously recalling it, LOL.. But reading all of your comments, I realize that the message is one of happiness, innocence, simplicity, and laughing at the silly things that happen in life!

  • Love the guitar work on this song.

  • What's that small pitter pat?

    1, 2, 2 kitty cats.

2 kitty cats went on a spree

then sat down and had some tea.

    LOL!

  • @CelesteK

You beat me to it. Yes, beyond wonderful, timelessly beautiful

  • This was one of my all time favorite Sesame Street shorts. Thank God for YouTube :)

  • I hate it when giant cats bust into my kitchen and knock everything down.

  • it proves you don't need new fangled toys with batteries and wires all you need is simple toys and imagination. kids learn better that way too.

  • Those girls r so cute!

  • I used to wish I had that doll house.

  • Love this one. I wish Sesame street had a reunion and brought those two girls back for an interview. How many of you wished you were one of those girls?

  • And they had to clean up the kitty cat's mess!

  • Back when kids were careful with their well-made toys...

  • Sweeter than honey. I have always loved this clip. Sesame Street made some wonderful music and images. If you loved this you probably also love the 'Sad Flower film' clip too. I liked '70Kenny"s" comment below. See, not all of us blokes are insensitive.Lol.

  • It's certainly not very macho of me to admit that I love this classic segment, but if I ever had a baby girl, this song would be the lullaby I would sing to her as I rocked her to sleep at night.

  • I have been looking for this forever. It brought backgreat memories. Thank you so much for posting!

  • Love it! As a kid, I really wanted that doll house, lol. Or maybe the kitties...

  • MOST BRILLIANT! I remember this from when I was a kid. BEST MOMENT: little girls' laughing when the cats lay waste to the whole party:)

  • This is one of my most favorite videos from Sesame Street!!! Love it:)

  • This is like stepping into a time machine and going back to a time when life was so much simpler-I miss laying on the floor in the family room with my brothers and watching shows like this.

  • I remember this very clearly from when I was 4 yrs old!! I LOVE the dollhouse and the cats..and so does my 6 yr old daughter!! Thanks so much for posting it!!

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO!! I HAVE 43 YEARS AND I CONTINUE SEEN :)

  • Thank you for posting this! I loved it so much when I was a little girl, it was always one of my favorite segments. :-)

  • This was my favorite as achild on sesame street, still love dolls myself and dollhouses!

  • The woman's voice reminds me of GLaDOS' Still Alive song from Portal. "And when you're dead I will be still alive...still alive...still alive."

  • I loved this clip :) But I always wondered what the odds were of dolls bearing so much of a resemblence to the girls playing with them lol

BTW...that girl with the pigtails is Jim Henson's daughter, Lisa.

  • @sweetlife031 wow thats some cool trivia huh? how did you know that (that its JH's daughter)?

  • @bbdbooya

I think sombody else mentioned that too lol

  • one of the girls in this skit was jim henson's daughter, and the dollhouse was made by jim for her.

  • wanna good cry, go look up "the letter e" classic, this is better than therapy

  • YAAAAY!!!!

  • I always liked this one... dont know if it was the melody, the lyrics, the girls or the Kitties!

even at 45 I can remember watching and enjoying these shorts that were always comfortingly the same each time.

  • Dispatcher: 911, what's your emergency?

Hysterical doll: HELP! Two giant kitty cats are wrecking my house!

Seriously, cute clip (and cute cats)!

  • talking about turning back the clock

  • Thanks for posting this, I've thought about this song for 42 years! I always wondered about the back story and who made the doll house, :)

  • @MitchHailstone - because its so innocent and beautiful! Because the world seemed nicer from that height! Because our mums and dads made us feel secure then and now we're becoming their parents. It affected kids in Australia too!

  • this was always my favorite! Thanks for posting a bit of my childhood :)

  • that was always my favorite part of Sesame Street!

  • wow these 2 little girls look yummyy, i wait till i get my hands on them

  • awwwww kitties.

this little song brings tears to my eyes - flashback to my childhood. those were happy times. (:

  • My dad used to sing this about us...

1-2 2 petty girls, one with soft hair the other with curls...

Now he sings it to my nieces!

  • everytime i hear and sing this song i am transported to a child again. i love it and cant thank you enough for posting this;)

  • I dunno why but I love the spoons part. :D So cute.

  • I am 47 and I have always loved this song and video. I can remember laughing with my mom and sisters when this came on. The cats crashing into the doll house has always been a fond memory. Thank you for posting this!

  • I think those of us who witnessed this as children have experienced something special and the experience has molded us into better people...

  • I have sung this song in my head for decades. I was only 4 or 5 when I first started watching it and am 44 now... I have loved it for a lifetime! I remember laughing at those silly cats and now, having a couple girls and cats of my own, I am blessed to relive this video in a way when our kitties go into the girls' play things and knock them down. These are memories for a lifetime!

  • @mikora7 I am 45 and I have had this song in my head since I first saw it - waaay back when I was little! Thank God they saved & preserved it! And, of all things, thank God for Youtube! My Mom doesn't remember it - because she was busy being a mom - but I've sang this song forever. Funny how some things just stick with you forever! I am glad we both got to see it and hear it. Yay for us!

  • Sweetest video ever!

  • thanks for posting this. i loved this when i was a child and i have always wanted to have a dollhouse just like that. i will share this with my two daughters..i am sure they will love this as much as i did when i was their age. God Bless !

  • this is one of my favourite sesame street songs =D

  • If I'm not mistaken, this is the same woman who sings "Daddy Dear", but I'm not 100% certain. They sound very similar.

  • I love this one, espec. when the cats crash the party.

  • I love this clip. I would be thrilled whenever it played on Sesame Street. I am crying and smiling as I write this. Watching this brought back so many good memories from so long ago. Thanks for posting it.

  • Aww, those kitties were silly, but they were cute.

  • Two medium sized dolls in a huge doll house! As a young boy the only part I really liked of this was the cats crashing the party...that part was cut out of the "Count Counts" LP record.

  • I love this so much! It brings back the best, most bittersweet memories ... yeah, it makes me teary, too. I hope it's available forever, because I want my grandchildren to see it.

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This tune has been stuck in my head for years. I'm 42. I couldn't remember anything past "two little doll" and I've been dying to find the video. It was one of my favorite Sesame Street short films. Now I can share it with my daughters. Yay!

  • This was one of my very favorites to see on Sesame Street when I was little. I also love cats so it was even more dear to me!

  • This used to bother me a bit. The girls did all that work, the cats wreck it, & the song sounds a bit sad. Yet the girls laugh, so even today, I don't really know what to make of it.

  • I've always loved this dollhouse with a real lightswitch, I was amazed by that... My love for cats had grown from this lovely clip. :)

  • Ahh love this one, the song is so peaceful

  • The tea party is so lovely. The cats were the strangers to the dollhouse as they got inside at 1:16-1:17.

  • OH THANK YOU... I was trying to tell my daughters about this clip .. we were at an antique shop and saw a tiny tea set.. So glad to find it.. I didn't realize the dolls where Madame Alexander dolls until watching it tonight... made it all the more special to me.. I didn't get much for Christmas growing up..but each year I did get ONE Madame Alexander doll.. 3 yrs older than Sesame street itself and have watched on and off for most of that 40 yrs.. BTW.. Happy Anniversary Sesame Street...

  • They were still playing this clip on Sesame Street at least a a few years after 1985, when I was born, because I remember the images and words. This song has been hauting me for years! :)

  • This is from Sesame Street? wow...

    I like the song....

  • Yep, this is from Sesame Street! Just out of curiousity, how old are you? I was just wondering because I was born in '83 and I remember they still played this clip when I was little...just wondering when they stopped. I heard once that the little blonde girl is Jim Henson's daughter but I don't know if that's true.

  • I was born in '94. I don't know when they stopped, but by the time I was able to form coherent words Sesame Street was all felt puppets and fur living in trashcans and singing about goldfish. that is, if we're talking about the Sesame street I think we're talking about; it seems highly possible that I'm thinking of a very different show.

  • It's the same show. They used to play alot of clips like this but I guess by the time you were watching it they had stopped. There was another one where a girl had a pet llama and she was taking it for a dentist appointment...what made it even more odd was the fact that they lived in the city. probably not the most realistic scenario but cute. The clip is available on youtube if you want to check it out...probably type "Sesame Street: Llama Dentist" or something like that. :)

  • Wow. I was born in '66 and I remember singing this song when I was a little girl.

  • I am born in 68' and I remember it too.. and still sing it to my nieces and nephews... someday to my grandbabies ;)

of course I just thought of looking for it cuz we just recieved a cute little package of two lil' kittens and a basket on our doorstep... quickly becoming part of the furball world this house in every day...lol

  • Those Goddamn cats Busted through and Wrecked everything. o_o

  • I SO wanted a dollhouse like that one when I was a little girl!

  • This song was one of my favorites when i was little - along with "C Is For Cookie" and "Put Down the Duckie". They were all on a Sesame Street tape my parents played to get me to be quiet. Great memories!

  • Comment removed

  • Is that Dolly Parton singing the song?

  • @BuddyBoy600 Ding dong, you're wrong!

  • It was pretty funny when those girls laughed at the cats when they knocked down their teahouse sets, don't you think?

Well, I think it's very funny indeed as it always cracks me up.

  • I have friends that collect Madame Alexander dolls because this exact video clip! Thanks, I cant wait to send them this link!

  • omg..i love this song..

  • I would not have laughed at the cats. I would have been mad that they wrecked my doll house.

  • I always wanted a dollhouse like that. What blew me away was the light that actually shuts off when the dolls go to bed! I love sesame street!

  • Me, too!!!!!

  • I love this song so much.

In fact I'm trying to figure out the chords for it on my guitar :)

  • I loved this SO much when I was little.

Seeing it again brought back such nostalgia, made me teary :-)

And I still love dolls. And cats ;-) Thanks for posting

  • @TheResidentMuse I know exactly how you feel. This video makes me teary-eyed too and I also love cats and dolls!

  • @TheResidentMuse Me too!

  • @TheResidentMuse I used to love it when I was little as well! And then all of a sudden, one day I had a vision of this and when I found this on youtube tears started flowing down my cheeks <3

  • this song is so cuddly :) i love watching it

  • omg! i remember this song ! i loved it!!

thanks so much for uploading it! and great quality too!

  • Holy WOW! I haven't seen this in 20 freaking years!! Took me back to childhood instantly! Thank you SO much for uploading!

  • Those darn cats. Can't trust them. Always a fave of mine.

  • I saw this in the 80's, and it has stuck with me ever since. I've always loved this song. And the cats of course. I think that's why I remember it so well. And I also remember the stop motion "Queen of Six" very well. And the song "Trying and Trying Again." If it had a cat or a kitten, I probably remember it (I love kitties, even when they're naughty, like in this clip. At least the kids have a sense of humor).

  • Thank you very much forposting this! Not only to this user, but to EVERYONE all over the world who posts these S.S. clips. We NEED to hold on to these fond & loving childhood memories. It means something very special to all of us. I'm 36 now and couldn't imagine growing up without S.S.

  • I loved it when this showed on Sesame Street when I was about 4. This pretty song planted the seed for my love of music and singing. The little house is nice, but I just loved singing along to that song. THANK YOU wattamack4 for posting it. Now my two daughters are able to watch it and they love it, too. Thanks, again.

  • Took me back & brought tears to my eyes.

  • I love this bit. Even though that sweet little doll house gets trashed by tabbies in the exact same way ours does every night.

  • ...then sat down and haaaaad soooooome teeeeeeeea!

  • i have played this several times.... it's really taking me back to a kinder, softer time! this was my all time favorite SS clip!

  • Bad kitties! Where's my spray bottle? :)

Seriously though, that was my favorite part of the clip when they come crashing through.

  • Wow. This is the Quintessential SS short. At 36, this is the one I remember most. After seeing this at 4 (?) I begged for a dollhouse. I wish I were nearly as graceful as the cats at playing with it. I seem to remember it suffered from several "tornadoes"...

  • I read this is the dollhouse Jim Hensen built for his daughters. These girls must be in their mid-forties by now. Anyone know who they are?

  • The blonde is one of Jim Henson's daughters, Lisa, I think, or Cheryl.

  • she sure looks like her father, I think.

Can you imagine growing up with Jim Henson for a dad? Lucky, lucky girl.

  • Oh, Sesame Street, my favourite clip ever ...

I love this so much ... feels like being four years old again! The doll house, the little girls, the kittens, the cups of tea ...

    Absolutely beyond adorable ...

  • One of those cats looked like my cat Olivia

I used to call her Livie

    Those cats must be tabbies

  • Reminds me of my kitty, Lynx ;) The two cats at the end look like him.

  • I vaguely remember seeing something like this when I was little.

Those things are too ''little''! CHOKING HAZARDS! ;P

  • Anyone know who sings this song. She is the one who really makes me swallow my manly side and have an "experience" with this clip so thank you to who can find it.

  • this is my best childhood memory!! i've always wanted that victorian dollhouse since i was like 4 when i first saw it on sesame street. i'm planning of building my little dollhouse! hated the cats though!!

  • Absolute magic! This takes me right back to believing in Santa Clause, my first bicycle, visits from the tooth fairy, and all those fluffy warm things in childhood.

  • i remember sitting in bed watching this when i was 4. all i knew is that i wanted that doll house and everything that went with it! even the light that turned on and off. i bet it even had running water. lol

  • .....all i remember is that i wanted that dollhouse!...and everything that went with it, including the electric lights that turned on and off!

  • I so love this one because it doesn't have "Bird" (as Snuffy calls him) staring into space aimlessly and we have the full clip! YAY! Thank you so much wattamack4 :)

  • I've always wanted a doll house with 2 dolls

    When I was 3

  • As I mentioned in the other clip... the blond girl is a Henson, one of Jim's daughters. Muttered in an Ernie voice, "I dunno, maybe his only daughter..." :)

  • This was one of my favorites!

  • I loved this as a child brings back so many memories

  • i wanted a doll house so bad when i saw this!!!

  • when i was a kid this video pissed me off because the cats messed up the house!! lol

  • I think the girls didn't get mad for two reasons because (a weak argument here) it would hsave ruined the beautiful feel of this clip all together and because the girls just naturally loved playing dolls together (what little girl wouldn't love playing dolls with a friend.)

  • such fond memories - thanks!

  • (Reply) (Spam)

I'm relieved that I'm not the ONLY one crying when watching this. One of the cats looks just like my family's first one; she was a kitten shortly after my seeing this ~1979/80. The music is cute, but after refinding this clip, the kittens made me tear uncontrollably for at least a minute!

Thank you for all of the great comments, folks!

Along with some of you, I was always surprised that the girls laughed instead of getting mad.

  • No problem dlikuski not hard to tear up listening to and watching this. So emotionally moving for those who "get it."

(Not all about counting 1,2 1,2 1,2) so much more to this clip when contrasted with the world we find ourselves in today.

  • Yep, madvids. I think that went through my mind, also.

  • I love this song. I remember it from when I was a kid. Of course being a cat lover it has a special place in my heart. I had a cat named Tiger who looked like the two cats. He was the best cat in the world.

  • I hope those two little dolls had giant cat insurance, lol.

  • this is one of my favorites, i always laughed when the cats trashed the dollhouse. ss came out in 1969, and i was born in 1971, so i got to see this alot when i was a kid.

  • I am downloading all of these great vintage clips for my 2 year old niece, and I completely forgot about this song. SS premiered when i was in high school but it amazed me and i loved when my baby sister watched so I had an excuse. This was back in the day before cable, so we had nothing much to choose from.

  • OK I admit I like this clip. I'm rooting for the cats.

    Always have... >:)

  • Seeing the cats go in the doll house, Remind me of that Rescue 911 episode thats on here, with the Bobcat breaking in the house into the kitchen.

  • I assume you are another user who frequents Allgood's (Dave's) channel also?

  • Out of all the amazing Sesame Street tunes, for me, this one is the best, number 1, of all time.

I like "Somebody come and play" and "1,2,3,4,5" , but on is the best, it brings me back to 1970, 72? 71? not sure.

  • After the cats messed up the dollhouse, it looked like there's a big earthquake or a hudge windstorm came.

  • "Yawns" The dolls are tired for a nap in this part.

  • Funny when the blond girl giggled a little and counted the two cats.

  • This is so sweet, I remember it from my brother's Sesame Street days. The dolls are by Madame Alexander Company.

  • Who sang this!!! Great song!!

  • did jim henson and friends make all these segments including the animated ones? How many studios helped with all these things?

  • A great oldie from my childhood; I was about 2 to 3 years old when I first seen this. Thank you for posting this. :-)

  • Here's a little trivia I learned at Muppet Wiki: The dollhouse was built by the late Jim Henson for his daughters.

  • Jim Henson had Daughters too?I only knew Brian Henon.

  • At least two daughters--Cheryl and Heather. I think there's another one I'm forgetting.

I've heard it suggested that the blond girl in this film is one of his daughterse. She DOES sort of look like him...

  • The Henson kids are Lisa, Cheryl, Brian, John, and Heather. She isn't one of them.

  • Of course, these are not Jim Henson's daughters in this film.

  • That was great!

  • One, two--two thumbs up! This is the kind of material that made Sesame Street memorable and watchable (without losing any educational value).
