I used to love the Niles character, until I learned that David Hyde Pierce is gay. He was so nerdy and quircky, the character asserted the fact he was straight, which made his actions hilarious, but alas, he was just a homosexual acting out his real self which is not humorous at all. Well he seems like a good actor but I'm sorry the writing doesn't hold a candle to Seinfeld. It's no contest, maybe he's funnier than Jerry Seinfeld himself (since he isn't actually funny) but Costanza and Kramer destroy him and so does Elaine.

I don't think anyone would argue that there is a difference in quality between Frasier and Seinfeld, especially not in the script writing, which Frasier was renowned for. However Seinfeld certainly has the edge in terms of cultural significance, it is very easy to see how it has influenced most modern sitcoms. Frasier seems to have influenced bugger all, which is a shame because I would love to see more comedy like this. Just out of interest, have you ever really watched Frasier?

Nope.. Only short bursts. To be honest I guess it is somewhat subjective, not my sort of thing. Though Seinfeld is the only sitcom I enjoy so maybe I'm a special case. I'm watching arrested development now though and it's good (not as good as Seinfeld ;) ) but I can't get into Curb.
