  • according to a 1996 Psychology today article. Dr. Loftus states that she herself was molested by a sitter as a child. What is interesting is that she felt it wasn't a big deal according to the article. If that is correct then perhaps all of this work that goes into discrediting victims of child abuse and repressed memory can be taken into perspective. If sexual molestation is no big deal to her , it might explain her less than unbiased stance.

  • @2huntnfish Oh come on. "Molestation" covers a wide range of possible behaviors. By definition they are all abusive, but some more are more harmful than others. To presume that all molestation must lead to trauma is ridiculous.

The case for repressed memory in most cases is weak. Iatrogenic forces are behind most claims.

  • Clinton's story was embellished for dramatic value due to campaigning. Memories of remote child/youth abuse is very real, it did occur. Pornographers who have drugged and abused children for the sake of profit are real. The costumes used during some of these scenes are nothing more than a cover, a cover of the rapists (actors) and of the victims as well. If the child ever remembers, the scenes described are too fantastic/ridiculous to believe.

Child abuse/rape is far more common than FMS.
