Romney makes perfect sense. He understands that campaign finance legislation is a direct attack on the US Constitution. "No law shall be passed abridging freedom of expression", remember? Oh, you're a liberal and you hate the Constitution? Then just say so. But you can't disagree that such laws are unconstitutional, even anti-constitutional.
The reform we really need is one that gets rid of people whose whole lives are spent getting elected and re-elected -- and who think that the Constitution is just something to get around in pursuit of that goal. The idea that money is corrupting innocent politicians would be laughable if it did not lead to such dangerous legislation as campaign finance reform.
"I don't know what we can do!" Well, maybe we could not have anyone giving money directly to campaigns so they are entirely run on public financing. No, that makes TOO much sense.
