I have seen lolita fashion in anime conventions. They are beautiful but rather...expensive and cumbersome to wear, not to mention very hot in my country.
His over generalisation of the gothic lolita people was rather bad. They are not all like that at all. Its like saying all gothic people are depressed. Some people just like to dress in black and listen to alternative music! Just because its different doesn't mean its bad!
Cool. Finally a country that considers my line of work to be NEET. I like the sound of that and would visit Japan, but I'm watching TV for the foreseeable future.
Australian Journeyman picutres always critises Japan it seems very left wing anti Japanese. Theres so much good to Japan also and I know Ive lived there. Low crime, great food, great infrastructure. Youth alienation is everywhere now not JUST JAPAN!
But I find this exagerated as many programs about japan/japanese youth always tends to be.
I think it proves how conformist western socities are rather than proving how crazy-wrong Japan is. However I do think Japanese youth are hollow as cha. points out.
Lolitas are far the biggest youth trend as they said. Most Japanese are very "average".
I was in Japan and didn't experience it like that.
I have not words dudes. I has been in Japan the last 7 years and I've been seeing how it is going to the crap more and more. I'm living here as a foreigner, so most of the troubles come to me more hard. I'm very disapointed.
I think most of japanese young people must realize that economy and material things are not the most important things in this life, and start to think by themselves and learn to fight "against themselves".
I mean, grow up as a "good human being" and not as a "working competitive machine". That "otaku" dude said he never has met a girl who was gentle on him, but surely, he also is not gentle with the girls. I mean, japanese people have a lot of things with the minimum effort, and they don't think about human relationships as a "give and take", most of them think about them like a cold business, "take all you can and give the less you can". That's a huge error.
What's happening with japanese society and similars, is simple. They are violating a simple nature rule, the "give and take" I mentioned above. Most of japanese young people, doesn't know things as important as LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, EMPATHY, etc... etc... so, after all they feel empty. Most of them, have not friends or love relationshimps, they use people like toilet paper, and that's wrong. You must GIVE to the other person the same you want from him/her.
I feel they are searching in the wrong place. You must search inside your heart and the other people's, not in material things and that stuff. People are like water wells, the water is inside all of us, not out. You need to search it. Most of japanese young people doesn't expend a fucking second asking questions to oneself and thinking about things, thinking about the others, etc... They only seem to be thinking about just how to feel good without give nothing and doing nothing. Too egocentric.
The "gothic lolita" said "I don't have a dream, I don't have nothing especial I wanna do", I say "search it inside yourself!", the otaku dude said "I never met a girl that was gentle on me", I say "be gentle, are you enough?", and so on... It's the same thing, they just aren't trying to grow up as a "good persons", they wanna "have, have, have and have". Real love relationships is "give, give and give", nothing to do with masturbating watching a 2D fucking doll in the computer screen.
Actually, japanese seems to have lost lots of basic feelings as a human being. Feelings that even most primitive tribes know well. So, my message is simple, "grow up as good human beings, and leave the money, the progress, the cold sex, the mobile phones, the porno-mangas and that "otaku" sick stuff etc... in second place". You japanese new generation, are too egocentric, superficial, and materialist, that's why you feel empty.
Hi bro! I have a recent interest in Japanese society especially people aged 18-25 and having been in japan you seem to know alot.
Is most of the things in this documentary true? How bad is it really? It seems exagerated. They say that japan is in a population crisis, why is that?
I sadly have to say that it's not exagerated. I lived here 7 years and it's the reality. I always say that Japan is rich in money and material things but people (especially) young people are poor in heart and feelings. Popluation crisis is only a problem. To me, the most big problem is Japan is throwing out their culture only for progress and money. I came here because I loved the japanese culture, but sadly, it is disappearing.
And the things won't change easily because in Japan, you're supposed to be conformist and be like the others. So, If a person says that something is wrong or that doesn't like something, he/she will be alone and probably bullied by the majority. Even if they realize what they are doing is bad or incorrect, they keep doing it just because the majority do that, specially young people. That's because Japan society values more the conformity than personality.
farazilu1 is right. The way modern Japanese society has developed has created the worsed lifestyle and way of life. What I mean by that is it's become so fast paced, individualistic and competitive for both men and women so there is no time or interest for family values, morality or community development. Especially for the young as you can see. They used be a great civil society before they were engulfed by urbanization and liberalism. Japan will be history if it continues down this path.
she is there out of her usual job show that she want a freedom from her life. she want a peaceful life that she can't get in Alcohol, music or even flesh cutting. what she really need is a force to systemic her life, it can be a religion or a social society who can lead her to inner peace

I am an american otaku and neet, sometimes freeter. All depends on the situation. So it is not entirely a Japan exclusive problem.
Mainly it's just a response to a failing economy and not enough jobs because of it.
Fuck bush for what he did! I hope Obama will straiten everything out.
