go to the mississippi river near lilydale good crappie fishin, its right next to the sewage drains dont worry bout the smell they bite alot by there, good eatin.
Leech lake and Mille lacs, which are the larger lakes in minnesota are Prime spots for Large Crappie. I've probably caught 30 crappie that total about 45 lbs. The smallmouth are pretty big also.
crappies are so easy to catch with the little squid bait. the best time is about mid april to end of may for shallows in minnesota. on our lake we catch like 30 at least 11 inch crappies off the dock. they like places with alot of debris like logs and rocks. find those places in the lake and cast out.

I hear that crappie are great to eat! How do you cook them and what do you put on them?

Fillet them and either put them in a frying pan w/ cooking oil or a deep fryer. They go great with tartar sauce
