  • Wow. I never was really too big a fan of this song, I never could understand how it possibly is his highest charting song to date (#2) but I guess that was just because I didnt understand where Bruce was coming from until now. The lyrics to this song are some of Bruce's best and they are ringing so true at the moment..

  • Hello Youtube! I'm sure you get this a lot, but I'm a 16 year old male singer-songwriter with a mission. I want to be a professional singer and only you can help me achieve that goal. I have written two songs that you may be interested in "Sup" and "Puzzlebox". Please could you take the time to listen, comment and rate. It doesn't matter whether you love it or hate it, I just need some advice. If you're into acepellas and ballads then this is for you! Thank you!

THUMBS UP so all can see!!!

  • Great version. Thanks!

  • Still watching in 2011

  • Wtf

  • All my friends think that i was living in these ages when this type of music was around, WRONG!!! it's because I have a life outside of modern day rap crap such as "I just had sex!" and "Jizz in my pants!" AND BY THE WAY IM 14 so what if i like this music at least i dont listen songs about a man who jizz's in his pants when he see's that is girlfriend is calling him!

  • I can remember when this song came out, about 1984. It was such a cool song, still is,

  • This song is a classic, it comes from a time in this country when things meant something, when people had hope, when you worked your ass off to buy your house, when this country wasn't a police state, when Ronald Reagan was president, when men had balls and women had spirit! Now, we have rapp music and everyone is afraid of their shadow.

  • @plan9area51 ronald reagan...lol yeah how's the war on drugs going? making the corrupt mexican govt and cartels millions a day..yeah reagan was a putz. all politicians are liars and empty suits for banks and corporations..wake up. there is no good side there is no right or wrong party ..they're all thieves.

  • I was 9 years I heard this song for the first time, after that time I was a bruce fan for live. Every day I love his music more and more! Thank you bruce! Gr. Teus wemmers from holland

  • I love how Springsteen sings really fast in some parts, then slows down and his voice goes all rusty and seducing again ;)

  • i love his telecaster :D

  • Happy Birthday Bruce Springsteen! And Happy Autumn as well! ;)

  • Happy Birthday Bruce :D

  • Happy Birthday Bruce Springsteen (September 23)

  • everything is good with me as long as were just dancing in the dark

  • my inspiration lmfao <3

  • This song always can create a laugh in your face, even in the moments when you're down! it have a god vibration!. I recomend listen it when the things are bad, its like a therapy , salutes from Argentina , thanks for this song Bruce!

  • Legend!!!!!!

  • this guns for hire ^_^

  • Somehow the melody sounds the same like the melody of billy joel's we didn't start the fire. I know this song was released in 84 and billy joel's in 89.. Can anyone explain? I can't find anything about this on wikipedia. Nonetheless, great song! =) Wish we had more 80's now.

  • @MPSamuru Probably because he says, 'You can't start a fire without a spark'

  • Somehow the melody sounds the same like the melody of billy joel's we didn't start the fire. I know this song was released in 84 and billy joel's in 89.. Can anyone explain? I can't find anything about this on wikipedia. Nonetheless, great song! =) Wish we had more 80's now.

  • @abdg32esd23 The current young generation isn't worse behaved than the last generation - in the US overall crime is WAY down on where it was a generation ago. The murder rate is 40% lower than it was 30 years ago. The teenage pregnancy rate is at at a 70 YEAR low - despite the abortion rate being 30% lower than it was in 1980. And it's the older generation that have screwed the economy by borrowing money they couldn't afford and handing the country over to corporations and the rich.

  • @bogoas81 You are hallucinating. The crime rate IS INDEED higher, murder is WAY up. Pregnancy rate is through the roof and abortions are also more....but, yes, not at the same rate...reason being? Babies = Free government money. It's the new badge of courage to see 14 year olds with babies in their walkers at high schools and the malls with no baby-daddies in tow. And it's the politicians that have sold us out to the highest bidder overseas...not us. Check your facts before spewing out.

  • @GahDub Facts are facts. The murder rate was 10.2 per 100,00 in 1980 and 4.8 per 100,000 in 2010. So it's more than halved.

Learn about the teenage pregnancy rate from the study by the Centre for Disease control. It found the rate in 2009 was the lowest since records began 70 years ago. I'd post the links but youtube doesn't allow them.

Educate yourself - your in a sad state. It obviously suits you to twist reality - I suppose it helps to justify the aggression you have for people.

  • @bogoas81 LOL I am probably the LEAST aggressive person toward people you would ever meet. I was the poster child for peace, love, and happiness back in the day. ;) What country are you talking about? I get my facts from both MSNBC, CNN and FOX reports about the teen crime rate and pregnancy rates. They ALL say the latest reports show a marked increase in those groups....especially juvenile violent crime. "While the general crime rate has dropped juvenile crime is out of control.

  • @GahDub Television news is by its nature sensationalist and fear-mongering. It's a form of entertainment. If a study shows crime is falling the producers will lead 'big' with the one crime or category or area where things have deteriorated, and only mention improvement in passing. Dramatic music to start, some flashy graphics, a couple of 'talking points' and a two minute 'report' - then on to the next thing to be scared by. Fox is particularly unhinged. You're best off doing your own research.

  • @bogoas81 Fair enough. List by name, avoiding the URL, your resource. I'd love to read up on from where you get your facts. Btw, as far as my "own research" I also am not blind or senseless....I watch what's going on around me in my own little town. It's out of control. Kids are WAY more selfish and violence is merely a fun thing to do especially in the wanna be gang membership that prevail. It's truly messed up. A drug and gang task force volunteer was just murdered here the other day.

  • @GahDub One: Your argument with this bogo dude is totally irrelevant to the song.I can't even find where it starts. Second: Your perspective is VALID BUT LIMITED. "in my own little town. it's out of control" emphasis on "own little town". kids in your area may be as retarded as you think, maybe it's the area, the demographics, their age, who knows. I didn't really have too much problem with my town in high school. Third: bogos facts are based on natl averages & does NOT describe your own area.

  • @asianwannabeamerican Yes, it is irrelevant to the song...however, I was merely responding to a statement brought up in the thread by two other complete strangers. So what? Getting off the song's meaning is par for the course on YouTube unless you've been living under a rock you may not have seen this kind of thing before. As far as the crime rate figures today - the news sources I read are indeed factual and I'll stand by it especially since we see it here in Central California every day.

  • @GahDub the fact that 95% of videos have comments unrelated to the actual video is way too common sadly, like an "OMG I <3 JUSTIN BIEBER's BODY" on a 9/11 clip or something. you and bogo just had to stick with the same trend and I just was calling you guys out on it. anyway, like I said earlier, you both have your own valid points but again, central California? that whole state might as well be its own country in some respects. you can take that as a compliment or insult depending on who you are

  • @asianwannabeamerican LOL....naw....it's cool bro. Yes....Central Cal is a cross hatching of all. And it truly is a melting pot. I really don't care whoever's stats are correct because I, personally, am doing just fine. Life is good and I fully understand there is more to life than youTube debates. Peace.

  • @bogoas81 THANK YOU!

  • @bogoas81 your kidding me right??? crime rate is only going up every year. despite what the government spoon feeds you to get you to believe that crime rate has gone down, the gov. just says that to calm people down, it's what leaders do.

one person is murdered every half hour, a car is stolen every 3 seconds, they have a T.V show for pregnant teens, how do you expect anyone to believe your facts.

but i do agree with you on the older generation borrowing money, and screwing over the next gen.

  • @20matrix20 It's not based only on figures from the government - it's corroborated by surveys of the population. Are the public lying to? And where are bodies of the tens of thousands of hidden murder victims being kept? Why does nobody notice they've been murdered? Did they know no-one at all? And the government doesn't want you to feel safe - it wants the opposite, for you to be scared. The prison business is a multi-billion $ and lobbies politicians like crazy to keep their business coming

  • @20matrix20 And yes maybe a car is stolen every 3 seconds. When you're talking about a population of more than 300,000,000 people there will be a lot of crimes. That's not disputed. What's disputed is whether crime is higher than it was a generation ago - and it isn't. 30 years ago there was a crime wave, and crime was close to an all time high, so let's not make out people are worse now - they're not.

  • @bogoas81 it's beacuse everyone plays video games and texts all fucking day long.

  • @ProGamer6690 Well that everyone doesn't include me or anyone that I know. Most people I know are busy with their careers or studying and their families and friends and interests and all the other things that go into making up life. If you feel that way I'd suggest finding some friends with a bit more get and go.

  • @ProGamer6690 Based on your screen name, that is almost like the pot calling the kettle black.

  • @bogoas81 whats that gotta do with dancing in the dark?

  • @meredeadman if you can understand what the @ symbol means you can understand I was replying to a point made by another commenter.

  • @bogoas81 But yet the music is degrading, we are getting more asocial because of individualization, society is rejecting those who dress different or are fatter than average for example, banks are ruining our lifes because they own the governments/countries....

  • @13Psycho13 Well I was talking about the young generation, and the people who managed the banks and drove them into crisis, and the politicians and officials who handed them taxpayers money, are almost all 40+, if not older. Also I don't agree that young people are more intolerant than before - some young people have always been bullies, but studies of social attitudes show how young people are less likely to be racist, homophobic and sexist than previous generations - and today's older people.

  • @13Psycho13 PS I do agree that pop/rock/r&b music is having a poor patch though - i hope it picks up.

  • @bogoas81 You said it all!

  • If there's one reason why he's called The Boss, this is it.

Scary that you morons get to take care of my generation in about 30-40 years...

  • This song, although I love it, haunts me. I had just broken up with my second wife and was living on my own when I bought the album and began playing it. Little did I realize that at the same time, memories of my army service in Vietnam were coming back to haunt me. I played this song night after night never knowing what was wrong with me.

  • I remember when i was a little kid i used to hear this on the radio all the time! I love this song so much! XD

  • The Boss is one of the only artists consistently speaking on behalf of the people. There are no more Dylans, Mitchells, Seegers or Guthries anymore.

  • This song does me in. I was married to a wonderful woman for nearly 30 years who I loved dearly (and still do). We ave got 2 wonderful kids who ave turned into 2 very good people. Want 2 change my hair my stlye my face? Bollocks we should ave just sat down and talked. love u lot. xg

  • Earlier this year, I was brought to my knees when I learned Gerry Rafferty died January. When I read the news that Big Man died, I had a tear in my eye before I finished reading the sentence. I was bawling. I picked up the sax because of him a long time ago, still play.

  • 3:25-3:59. RIP Clarence Clemons.

  • So ironic I was listening to this and I loaded msn and it said he was dead RIP

  • RIP Clarence. Ill remember him for the little dance he did in this video.

  • I can't imagine the E Street Band without Clarence and his wonderful saxophone solos. Just so immensely talented. He will long be remembered.

    RIP, Clarence.

  • RIP, Clarence Clemons! Without your saxophone solos, Bruce Springsteen might not have been Bruce Springsteen!
