I teach at lga (lawrence gymnastic athletes) and heard rumors in open gym that guthrie started training at lga. Well over his christmas break (this wednesday) guess who I ran into at my gym. Funny thing was he didn't throw any corks till I aske.d him to. His gf was there too, talent she was good.
in battles vellu has already tricked his heart out in the many hours before the battles actually begin so he's already tired. But if you see in the video it's obvious that michael tricked more consistantly, but in some moments of this video, vellus true unearthly brilliance shines through. In the combo's where he truly hit the mark the crowd went crazier than they did for anything guthrie did.
if you notice, the reason that vellu didnt make the double cork swing through double cork, was that he had to much hight on the first one(double cork).
so he couldnt block properly for the second one(double cork).
as you can see at 0:23-0:27 , freeze it on 0:25 and see the spare time he had because of the hight.

Vellu is a better tricker in general Guthrie is good too but he lacks kicks he focused to much on the corks and twist ,either way both have some surious skills
I never really got why Vellu falls apart during trick battles.. His video's prove him to be spectacular, but when he goes into a battle, he cant hit the big tricks (excluding brandy double back).. Guthrie won this, im just glad they did it for fun
@chaakuzza Think about it, Vellu could do so much better than this.. im not saying he does bad in "every" battle, im just sayin he does for the most part in major ones. Like daniel graham and mike guthrie. He was more himself at the Big trick event tho.
@3rundisciple I know this comment is super old. But if you look at all the recent gathring footage from Vellu (Giga, Panda, Tampere) he proves that he is VERY consistent with all of the hard tricks. Maybe he was just having one of those days where you can't land anything, you know what I mean? After all, it was his first Loopkicks Gathering. :D

Check the USA vs EU battle. Vellu didn't fail a combo there, but in this battle he bailed alot.
