So if we have the DNA, couldn't we grow or clone a Neanderthal? think of the answers such a being could give us regarding it's abilities and physiology.
i'm not aware about this new technology of sequencing, but it make me bizarre that the bead have just one version of the dna fragment, one more thing, how the intensity of light can reflet the number of incorporated nucleotide knowing that beads have thousand of copies (and because dependy of the bead, the copy number can't be the same comparing with another bead with a different dna fragment)
what ever, this is impresive and fast compared to the data.
Estamio, the answer may never be known as there are other reasons for burying a dead person (hiding the remains so it doesn't attract animals) and other reasons, the view on this depends on who you ask.
I know earlier species like Homo Heidelbergensis (the bodo specimins) show carving and signs of canabalism, but I think something like this was done out of survival. I know they can look in the teeth for signs of diet, but I am not sure if drugs would show up.
Love information surrounding the Neanderthals. It' a shame they had to die out but I guess there was no room on earth for another Human species whilst civilised Homo Sapiens Sapiens was and still is, growing up.

@ MrIlikeeggs12 uhh no it'd be more like
1)Hold your breath.
2)Copy all of these steps.
3)Go to two other videos.
4)Paste it in the comments
If you can do this without breathing you're a bloody idiot

I recently watched video lectures pertaining to the "aquatic ape" theory of human evolution.
Any comments?

The National Geo' mentioned cannibalism being evident on the remains they found.
So, why would someone eat someone (scraping the bones with a blade), and then hide the bones?
I know elephants scatter bones they find...
I wonder if evidence of psilocybin(sp?)or other "religious" compounds could be determined?
Making a spear seems pretty advanced to me, considering how artistic the action seems.
Thanks.
