TOO HUGE? eBayed my 8" Manix II sabre grind to help finance this 9" S30V/FFG from BladeHQ. Size matters. And not always in the good way. Consider buying a "little" sprint run 8" Manix II with S30V &FFG, if you can even find one. Carrywise, a full inch of XL pokes above the jeans pocket. Discrete? Pffftht. Most meaningful size comparison for Manix2XL would be the monster 9.5' Spyderco Resilience...except M2XL's grips are actually DEEPER. This'll take some getting used to.
Why did they put the clip mounting holes all the way down there? It looks like it has plenty of room to have them at the top like the regular Manix 2.
Ordered one today. From you guys. It better be (&%$^# good! No pressure :) Sold the 1 yr old " little" Manix 2 in under 2 hours on eBay today to help finance this purchase. It was the flat grind, S30-V and the $105 free ship price that sold me.
Thanks for this video. Just got my Manix 2 XL on Xmas Eve and it's a wonderful knife. Easy flat carry (I use my rear pocket) smooth opening and great lock. I'll also add that mine came extremely sharp as I've got myself with the point twice now because I'm not use the this blade length! LOL Keep up the good videos I love them.
Is the slide/ball lock on the XL the same size as the "old" manix 2? On the face of it, it would seem that a longer/bigger knife might need a larger lock.
@sbyman96 Actually when you get down to it the only similarity is the looks. Function isn't alike. They both have their pro's and con's but aren't the same thing. Also its more funny how many features BM has taken from other brands. I love BM... but if we are talking "stolen" ideas there are many people who dislike BM for that reason. I don't care much. Just saying. I probably got too involved in your post haha sorry! meant no aggression. :P
Although there is no operator difference, the patented Spyderco lock is superior to the BM. It's not a copy. I own several of both and the Spyderco caged type lock is better. With thumb & forefinger you can make the BM axis lock pin go wobbly. Not so with the Spyderco encased lock design. Also the encased Spyderco design allows less dirt/debris into the lock mech, over time.
this is another awesome aspect of spyderco--they are willing to produce slight variants on already-successful designs. The Manix is just ridiculously nice. Look at the blade finish on the 154cm model; absolutely beautiful.
Man I want to snag one of these! I love the manix, but I've been waiting to get one. This one is perfect for me. Probably a bit too late to pre-order it and get the first ones, but I may have to try.
I just got mine in, it feels very good in the hand for those that felt the original manix was a little small. Love this knife.

Good stuff! Funny how all the top knife brands seem to be copying Benchmade's Axis lock

Please do the Spyderco "R" Nishijin next. I'm curious to see if it looks as good as the Chinese folder.

how does that lock compare to the benchmade axis?
MPSecare 2 months ago
@MPSecare its way stiffer but gives the feel of being stronger, also you have to release it from both sides unlike the axis lock
