Blackhawk! also makes extensions to drop the holster another 2 or 3 inches. I had an issues with my web gear sitting right on the pistol's grip so getting the gun out of the holster with any speed was almost impossible. I added the extensions and all is right in the world.
I have a taurus 24/7 oss in .45 acp. Does anybody know if it will fit in any serpa holster? Its currently riding around in a fobus polymer holster made for a HK USP. I want a serpa platform because it attaches to my belt by way of a elastic band as opposed to my current rotating polymer paddle holster.
Do you have any experience with the Blackhawk Omega 1911 drop holster? Ive been looking into drop holsters for my 1911 lately and I think that is about the only one I would be interested in...was just wondering if you had ever handled one and what you though of it. Thanks -Rob
Waste of money.just looks and like you said hip holster much faster.I would carry ammo tho on both legs and maybe attach a combat knife. But still not convcing to me these types of holsters I mean maybe if I had a backup gun on a chest rig I would use the drop leg cuz im telling you guys.PEOPLE WILL go for it and try to take it away from you.especially on a SHTF scenario..Nice video and thanks for posting.
I have an important Q. I'm 5'6" and 120lbs. Small guy. Do you think this will fit on my thin legs fine?? I don't want to blow over $100 if it's not going to fit snug with the straps.
@kwaglockman I'm the same height and weight as you, and it fits beautifully. The straps almost "bungee" with you when you step, and there's no sliding at all. Very snug fit, and super adjustable if you want it more or less tight.
oh, wait does the piece go Over the top of the gun or just up to the top of the gun?? I thought u meant like the lvl3 where it actually goes up and over the top lol
@Polizer6B It just goes up and covers the rear sight from being damaged from the front. I'll see if I can get a video up with more detail on the holster now that I have a HD video camera.
@Polizer6B Actually this SERPA is not a level 3 retention holster. While Blackhawk does make a level 3 SERPA thigh rig, the standard rig is only a level 2.
@NeedWarForPeace Not a stupid question at all. A level 1 holster retains the firearm by friction alone. A level 2 holster retains with friction and a thumb break or SERPA style mechanism. A level 3 holster retains with friction, a thumb break or SERPA style mech, and something else that normally goes over the top of the gun.
@TwoGuysOutdoors Not to correct, but its simply the amount of ACTIVE retention devices, for example a safariland 6004 has a bail over the top, but is only a level 2 because thats the only active retention device, friction is considered a passive retention device.
how do you keep the leg straps from going down, i have a condor tigh holester and each time i run in them the straps keep sliding down and and starts to wobble... any advince would be nice thanks....
@DrftrPny Because the SERPA Tactical uses the Y hanger, most of the firearms weight is carried on the belt. This bassically means the leg straps are there to keep the holster from twisting around on the leg. To keep it from twisting, the leg straps have two lines of rubber on them that grip the pants. I've never really had my leg straps move on me.
How well do you think it would fit for someone with thick legs? Cause I've tried a few drop leg holsters, and they seem like they were made for children, although I have not tried a blackhawk yet. So I guess my question is; do they have enough slack for man sized legs? Good vid, thanks for your input.
@TwoGuysOutdoors Alright thanks man. That was one hell of a fast reply. I'm gonna get one of these guys right now. Thanks for the reply and the review.
@ichewtoast111 Blackhawk doesn't list the USP Tactical as one of the firearms for the Serpa Tactical. Maybe if you, and enough other people email them, they will start producing for the USP.
Wow where did you find it for $70, its like $130 off the Blackhawk website. Nice review dude, glad I found it. I considered doing a molle drop leg thigh panel for my regular serpa, but the STRIKE backplate is both a pain in the ass to get attached, but feels poorly secured to the molle webbing once it is on. Might give the tactical version a try.
they are trash.. inferior materials cause it to easially break, release button fills with dirt, sand, etc causein gun to be inop. finger has a tendency to fall into trigger well when under stressful situations.. so with safariland
these holsters sucks...Just bought brand new hk usp pistol and used it on these holsters. hard plastic rubbin on the gun causing rubb marks removing the finish on the gun...now my gun has ugly rubb marks on it..
@Acurajdm123 All guns get rub marks on them from prolonged carry. The Serpa's are fantastic for tactical applications and if you're buying guns to be gun case queens then this holster probably won't ever do you any good either way.
That is a very good question, I unfortunately do not have an answer for it. By the way the holster looks, target sights should fit, but without testing it, I can't say for sure they will. Thanks for asking, I'll be looking into it.
I'm loving the Gunslinger, it's pretty much become my go-to pack. My poor Versipack just sits in my kitchen now... I have noticed that sometimes I'm really wishing I had more space though, so I'm going to invest in a Skycrane II and use the Gunslinger as a 3-5 day pack. I'm still working on the load out for it to, but with a 35lb load, it feels like I'm barely packing anything at all. It's getting a lot of use!
Thats cool i'm sure you'll like the skycrane II i love my gen one skycrane and yes you can even haul the kitchen sink in it. There is just alot of room to pack stuff. I was thinking of getting a gunslinger II we'll see.
I know from experience that it can be accessed very easily while seated in the passenger seat of a Chevy pickup. I have yet to test it while in the drivers seat or in a car. As soon as I do, I'll post a comment letting you know.

does the holster slide up your thigh?
shallowgravesk8films 1 year ago
mine is in black, and i like the thigh holster better, but i do like the Y hangers..
after a while it feels like it`s cutting the circulation from you leg,but after a few weeks of wear you become custom to it.
And the Heavier the gun the more it can swing as you walk.
You will notice the difference between a glock 34 and a 1911.
But i love mine and it`s very fast handling when you need it.
But after 5 months of use the company i work for said no more,we all look scary with them on. :(

Could the firearm be accessed if you were seated in a vehicle for example?
I was planning for a holster to go on the side of a vest. But the arm movement would need more room for that. This draw seems more fluid.
Great review, Thanks!
