  • Look at that clock!

  • Man, this guy was so smooth, he could get a muslim to buy pork chops.

  • CordobaHHHH!!!!

  • @CEOkiller No no no, you have to roll your r's. Corrrrrdobahhhhh. :)

  • Did you see that great digital clock? This was cutting edge technology in 1976

  • Rich Corinthian leather!!!!

  • I shall leave you as the Cordoba left me... marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead stretch of road...OUT OF GAS!...

  • @QuorthonandCronos Let's see how you handle Ceti Eels

  • @QuorthonandCronos MONTALBAN!!!! LOL

  • Jesss, I would like to purchase this automobile. It too has captured my heart.

  • This guy is so smooth, he could sell pork chops to a muslim.

  • Cordoba's are a sick ride, and mine is vary comfy , plus if Ricardo likes then who can hate?

  • the clock..ha ha ha I remember watching the clocks change in my parents car. What a beautiful car!

  • This car looks old even for 1977 when cars like Caprice Classic were starting to go for a more modern looking boxy wedge shape!

  • @sketchyinc We had a '74 Caprice. I'll take the "old even for 1977" instead of the later styles. The new Camaro's style is based on the 60's one. I actually wish it was even more so, or more NOS (new old stock).

  • I remember seeing some of these on the road when I was a kid back in the early '80s and in reality, they didn't seem as luxurious as the way they are presented in this commercial. I guess when you remove Montaban from the equation, the Cordoba ends up looking like just an ordinary car.

  • that analog clock was priceless

  • The Card-board-ah!

  • Honey, I'd buy a Daewoo if Mr. Montelban sold them.

  • @MeatpiesTV I noted his death much more than many others. I wish we could bring his kind of class back into vogue.

  • This was one of Chrysler's most beautiful design expressions. It's garbage build quality notwithstandning.

  • @itsmegp46 I think the other 2 (or was it 3?) manufacturer's quality wasn't good, either.

  • I bet that thing handled like a sailing boat on wheels.

  • "Reeeecchhhhh Cooorrrreeeeeennthian Leather"

  • C'mon man, say "rich Corinthian leather." You know you want to.

  • I would pay over $400 for a Cordoba these days .. And be the most bad-ass guy in my hood with that kind of luxury upon classic elegance ..

  • Geraldo still drives one !

  • I would invent a time machine just to go back and drive "old" cars when they were brand new.

  • '

i like this car body and both bumpers were so strong metal in before 1980,,,

this 1995 to now all vehicles are so flexiable and both bumpers are so weak foam / plastic as breakable toys,,,

why all automakers do that foolish around

  • i had a 400/4 bbl 76 model, the thermoquad carb always bogged off the line & made me the loser alot of times but on the highway it could better 130mph & it was cozy as fuck.

  • You would have better luck driving a can of refried beans around.

  • Damn, poor Ricardo Montalban, I know he was payed, but one thing is to say it and other is to believe all the crap they payed him to say about that heap of junk...anyway, such an elegant man.

  • He doesn't always drive cars, but when he does, he prefers the Cordoba.

  • It is RICH Corintian Leather!

  • Ricardo voice is so smooth. He was the perfect pitchman for anything.

Cordoba did look nice in it's day, but it's quality and endurance ratings were always suspect.

I think Ricardo's commercials by themselves actually extended this cars' production by 2 or 3 years.

But the public perception of its' terrible quality rating finally spelled its' doom.

    Even Ricardo couldn't save it.

  • I have 1 excactly like it

  • these cars looked good but they were pieces of shit

  • @stevenblouis Did you ever drive one?

  • @deepcosmiclove ive never driven one but Ive driven in one and they are very comfortable but this car and American cars in general have a bad reputation for breaking down and being mechanically unsound. The american car industry was begining to tank at this point in time1977 the 80s were the worst for american cars. Motors, front ends , bodies and an overall quality rating began to fall at this time hence''the japanese invasion''still Americans have a basic distrustfor American cars...

  • @stevenblouis Yes I agree. I have a 1970 de Ville and a 1968 Buick Skylark and they are fine. But American cars went downhill after the oil embargo of 1973 when they began using aluminum parts in the motor, body and front end like you say. Anything before 73 is a good buy. Afterwards, nothing but junk.

  • @deepcosmiclove Ah yes, aluminum. The 'metal' the so-called great minds of the auto industry thought was the future metal of cars building. They thought aluminum would soon be scientifically altered stronger and more durable. Withstanding high heat and road bumps and grinds like cast iron and steel, yet with a much lighter composition thus increasing fuel economy. An epic fail of the U.S.

Aluminum heated faster, yet cooled faster, cracking MANY aluminum heads.

Japan really blew by us here

  • thats hot i can almost smell fat frank now

  • The front of it looks kinda like a Le Mans.

  • i think my kid was concieved in one, reclining bucket seats! hmmmm.

  • Beautifully styled car, but typical Chrysler, a build quality disaster. My dad bought one of these cars. Leaving the dealership, he got into the car, grabbed the pull strap to close the driver's door and the strap came out of the door. The first of many quality control disasters.

  • @itsmegp46 ford,gm.and especially chrysler were starting to suffer at this point in history. this is due to bad employee mentality, repetitive job duties, affirmative action employment policy, and a general uncaring philosophy of the corporate sector.. overpaid autoworkers did a large part in dethroning the American car companies ..... hence toyota grabing market share. capitolism good and bad hows your unemployment mr American? dont even get me started on the real estate pigs dont even

  • I had one of those when I first got my drivers license back in 1993.That car had a very smooth nice ride.

  • The small Chrysler, A few years before this the word on the street was : "there will never be a small Chrysler'

  • I want my 1977 Cordoba back

  • I saw "Ricardo montalban" and thought of the Seinfeld episode with the three generations of Mandleban's

  • uh, you forgot the "Corenthian leather".

  • @Hawaiifive01 Corenthian leather was only offered in 1975. LMAO

  • Ricardo Montalban used to chase Shatner around in one of those things.

  • Yuck, go get a Coup Deville or an El Dorado, I hate Chryslers, good actor though, but go GM!!! Chevy rules all.

  • I'll bet he can chase Captain Kirk around the Antares Maelstrom and through Perdition's flames with that automobile.

  • Notice the clock struggling to get from 7 to 8. Those things only lasted about 18 months before they conked out. I never knew anyone with a used Cordoba that the "Chronometer" still worked. Still one of the greatest campaigns on the 70's - who can't think of Ricardo and not think of the car - and vice versa!

  • What the hell is a personal sized luxury car.

  • @catiefromsavannah2 A smaller 2 door

  • @catiefromsavannah2 A "Personal Sized Luxury Car" was a limousine you drove yourself. The doors were six feet long, and the cars were huge. But they only had two doors.

  • Should have also gotten Tony Montana to pitch them-- "Geet a fucking Cordoba, you fucking cock-a-roach, ho-kay?

    '

  • Yeah, thanks for the gas guzzlers...Now we won't have a polar ice caps and coastlines.... :P

  • @gamesDAMNED Yeah?? Neither did the Dinosaurs!!

  • RIP you did I good job during your career.

  • beautiful car

  • Ricardo should've done Grey Poupon commercials while driving around in his Cordoba.

  • @gatorcc70 remember the guy cut the diamond in the back of a lincoln ?

  • @stevenblouis Yes I remember. I think he's missing a finger or two now.

  • Ricardo should've done Grey Poupon commercials while driving around in his Cordoba.

  • WOW that is a beautiful car! I wish they still made them like this :(

  • I too enjoy the finer things in life like Ricardo.

  • I'd put a 383cid in that! A shift kit and a taller rearend gear and you're set!

  • this was my very first car!! I had a black one but drove it in 1988. I paid $400 for it used... it had some power though, with a V8 engine. Those were the days!

  • Very nice ThanX anna

  • You're welcome, friend.

  • this shows how american cars made uk cars of this eara look crap

  • He could even sell a jalopy, just imagine a fashionable car of then.

  • Amazing car, Amazing Actor!!

  • @SistemasNormales Amazing actor is right! They don't make 'em like they used to. If I was over 6' and had a more masculine appearance, I'd be tempted to give Hollywood a shot and bring back more class.
