  • Venezuela is NOT communist, they are socialist. And clearly the CIA and other terrorist groups are preparing a coup against the democratically elected government of Venezuela. And clearly this has nothing to do with any ideology, is purely for oil and nothing else.

  • Communismus suckss!!

  • Nice try. Keep it up check out esteembpo + com for social media marketing. HJGH

  • This is nice video95245105

  • come on aljazeera, chavez is a corrupt temperamental inmature clown. stop giving him the benefit of the doubt, stop being so naive. venezuela, colombia... we people are so corruptible and treacherous , our "leaders" too. this guy is a mess, and he is taking that country to hell, he is no socialist.

  • On the 2:45 mark there's a mistake. The video is not from Globovisión (a Venezuelan 24-hour news channel opposed to Chávez) but from a humour show broadcast on Peruvian national network Frecuencia Latina -the clip shows an impersonator (Carlos Álvarez?) mocking Chávez-.

  • I now get why the the Mainstream media toned down there bull they spread on Chavez.Chavez is highly dependent on selling oil.The substantial drop in price in oil cause his country economy to suffer (well It seems that way)I think the west no longer sees him as a threat to there monopoly of power cause they feel he`s going to get voted out cause the economy is going to get a lot worse causing most of his supporters to abandon him.

  • Its unusual of the us media to tone down the propaganda towards Venezuela. The U.S is probably planning something or the U.Smedia realized there losing there credibility so they decided to change gears.

  • These 'influential newspapers', specially NY Times and El Pais, act in fact like mimic monkeys. They follow suit to who is in power. Like flies on a lamp. Power really corrupts. Ask Chaves...

  • Don't you see all the money that Chavez used to win the election, Don't you all your "Journalist" ask where this money come from... From the oil that is not intended to serve that purpose... That is what is not fair about how he won an election in a short time... Please why you don't show some respect over you intelligent and the people

  • Yeah but he revels in his image, he loves to be anti-American. Therefore, when you do those things the American media is not going to like you.

  • chavez is the president who take care the poor people, with social programs health programs expresways subways houses more jobs incresses educations reduces poverty help people en USA with heating programs and many more helps so, that why we, the poors venezuelan suport chavez for reelections
  • I don't know many poor Venezuelans who live in Miami, of all places!

  • Como se ve que eres unos de los que se come la mierdita chavista

  • It's so easy to turn the truth upside down with help of the media.

Its necessary to remember that during that, so called "coup", Chaves' followers were shooting from a bridge, just meters from Miraflores (the executives government house.) This motivated several high officials to stand against Chaves. It was his Commander in Chief who first stand up against him, when Chaves himself order the use of HEAVY TANKS and the ARMY to confront the mass of unarmed people

  • Meet the new dictator, same as the old dictator. Well, he gets along well with the other dictators, so at least he's got that going for him. So now, Hugo Chavez will be "President for life" and Khameinie is "Supreme Leader for life"...Nice. Robert Mugabe, King Abdullah of SA, it's nice owning your own country.

  • hufo chavez will need to be elected over and over again for that to happen

  • It's that sort of naivety that brought the world Communism, Fascism, and Nazism. Saddam was "elected" too...Normal margins=99.9% to .1%. Castro keeps winning election too...99% to 1%. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" Now, he will start executing his critics. Another "Banana Republic". You just don't have enough experience with this sort of "politics" yet.

  • will see on 2012 whos right thats when his term ends

  • Hugo Chavez just elected himself President for Life. By 2012, he'll have crushed any opposition, just as he's done in this 2nd referendum. That's right, this has come up before and his abolishment of the Venezuelan Constitution was voted down. You think it's a coincidence that 3 of Chavez's closest allies are Cuba, Iran and Syria?

  • wow quick judgment its sounds like you have pesonal grudge agaisnt the man its obvious his allied with them because they all hate the US we all know that, how can you make an argument when you show yourself to be biased he as done nothing too me for me too hate him and he as done alot for my country and other ones that are in the same boat

  • No personal grudge here, I don't believe in them. Growing up during the Cold War gives me a different perspective on people like him. There's a saying:"This aint my 1st rodeo." and it fits here. Above I posted "Meet the new dictator, same as the old dictator." for a reason. The abolishment of the Venezuelan Constitution is the 1st step down the road to dictatorship. I hope you're right, I really do, but we've seen this before .."if it walks like a duck..." and wears a uniform..."communista"

  • Its better to be a Banana Republic than being a country whose whole history and culture is based on WAR and at the cost of lives, bloody and sweat of foreigners.

  • For the life of me, I can't think of a country in the world, excepting Switzerland who's history didn't involve war. History is made up of wars, conquests, liberations... Your attack on the USA is farsical considering the fact that when Brazil was bankrupt in the 70s it was us who bailed you out. There has been no greater force for good in the history of mankind than The USA. We are the world's 1st responders. Earthquakes, Tsunamis...We are always there 1st and we always give the most.

  • here in the internet anyone can play expert in anything, history included, you included. US supported dictatorship throughout south america in the 70s, killing even a democratic brazilian president. Now you first responders? Let me ask you something simple: In the last 20 years how many years you can count us not involved in a war? But don't get me wrong. I understant it is not about flags but about human nature. Brazilians are not saints either.

  • Then you are saying it's in the nature of Americans to fight? I agree. To quote GS Patton:"Americans love a good fight. Traditionally we love a winner and will not tolerate a loser." In the last 20 years we've been involved in Gulf War1(6months), Somalia(1yr.), Bosnia(2-3yrs), Afghanistan, and Iraq(8 all together). Which of those conflicts were colonial? I'm sure you disapprove of the last 2, but which of the others would you have a force for good stay out of? Answer honestly please.

  • No. Its a cultural characteristic. You mentioned banana republic. It is a negative Brazilian cultural trait. But US has negative traits too. For instance in our culture we dont distinguish between winner and loser, like you guys do, todays winner may well be the tomorrows loser and vice versa.

  • The Afghanistan war was really necessary? American intelligence could pinpoint al Qaeda leaders in a silent way without bombing and killing civilians. Iraq war was sure unnecessary: there were not mass destruction weapons. It was all about oil and contracts for American-bush businesses. US has acted like the police of the world but not all actions are legitimated by UN and therefore somewhat colonial.

  • Please take the space below to list all the hot wars fought where no civilians died. Please tell me if Brazil is administered perfectly and what of the street children of Rio/Sao Paulo?(I'm sorry, I couldn't resist the temptation to sling a little tuquoque) If "It was all about oil and contracts", we could have dealt with Saddam for pennies on the dollar. He would have Given us his (yes His) oil to stay in power. We aren't perfect, but Chavez is a megalomaniac. Do you want him running Brazil?

  • Additionally, I wanted to point out that your entire argument was nothing more than an attack on me and the USA. This video was about Hugo Chavez and you didn't mention his name in even one of your replies. I'm really interested in knowing: Would you trade Brazils current form, and government for Hugo Chavez? Would you trade Brazils growth and progress for the last decade for a Socialist Dictator? It's just odd...your arguments. Brazil's demcratic gov. for Chavez'? Takers???

  • Not true. I believe it was na adequate answer to what you implied about us here in latin américa. I havent anything against US simply because it is US. In the same token I have my set of objections against brazillian polices, however I would never agree with the trade you suggested. Hugo Chaves is a laughing stock. He makes so much noise in everything and is straight in the path to become a absolute Dictator, not a socialist one, but for his best interests.

  • In that case, I would refer you to my initial comment. It appears we are in agreement after all. "Meet the new dictator, same as the old dictator..." , yes?

  • I'll remember that the next WorldCup Soccer Match."...we dont distinguish between winner and loser..". The world wasn't formed by those who lost wars. The ideas which shaped our tomorrows and yesterdays weren't formed by the losers...It was the politician who won the election that formed the governments policies, not the one who lost. After we quit Vietnam, 8 million people in SE Asia were killed by the communists. We split Korea with them and look at the disparity.(SvN)

  • and you always destroy the most too. deny that...

  • Communism is not to be compared to Nazism and fascism. Communism is a good idea, what can not be said about N n F. Problem with C is that is not attainable, being just an utopia, a dream. A pure version of capitalism is not possible either. If you pay close attention you will notice many communist patches in our system: Unions demands, nationalized banks etc, etc.

  • A political system which prevents the repetition of this history is yet to be invented. Presidents and prime-ministers are too powerful. Temptation strong. Figures like Chaves, Castro and Mugabe will always find excuses to continue serving their people. The system works for itself not for the commonwealth, although sometimes their interests may be common.

  • 'serving'

  • Tip: 2 movie's

the revolution will not be televised

    and

    the war on democracy.

About the cia coop in Venezuela in 2002

  • vanessa neumann is a typical jew

  • Anti-Chavez movements are funded by Izrael and America !!!

  • That could be more ridiculous!! Chaves is just another Latin American "cheap" dictator.

We shouldnt forget of other dictators like Hitler were also democratically elected

  • Media is why Barry got elected in the US

  • So you are saying that none of Bush's litany of F-ups were a good enough reason for informed voters to want something different?

  • Theyre getting more than they bargained for

  • With Bush, they sure did. That is who we got into this mess....and you know that is the truth.

  • Mass media is irrelevant to politics, because people need to have their own forums.

  • agreed.. they just waste their breath.. and it goes both ways pro and contra

  • Mass media has a function in totalitarian democracy and lack of forums for civil debate. It works as a biased forum for the elite, who report on people from an ethno-centric point of view, and then it reforms into a tradition, in which the journalists think their stagnated bureaucracy and way of journalism is the most advanced and justified. Mass media is the forum for the oligarchy or gentle despotism, fails to see its role and it supports the lack of civil forums as a normal thing

  • Mass media is the forum of the oligarchy, in the same way as is the forum for new dictators to consolidate and keep hold of the power
