  • To all you people saying "just play it on guitar," this is how they play it live. They use these exact effects and the guitarist is stepping on these pedals as he's playing another guitar part. With two guitarists it's impossible to get the sound on the track without using these samples and still get the other two parts that make up the sound of the song. Quit your bitching and learn an instrument.

  • i dig it!

  • Dance pad

  • This doesn't sound right at all.

  • How to don't play the guitar.

  • Sounds flat.

  • have those pedals broke on you yet? im scared for my DL4s life after all this reading of the footswitches giving out

  • @alexander9213 JHS Pedals will install heavy duty switches on the line 6 modelers for $55, before or after they're broken.

  • Wait, u play sample for Minus The Bear?

  • I am also Mr Clark. But I'm not 86

  • Just confused as to why you'd post the samples and not how to do it. I wanna see how these chords are made

  • @MultiChickenbreast get tabit. this guy is seriously a god at tab transcription

  • Tha´s a beatiful demostration of Happy feet sweet dream, "make the most complicated feet performance I never see" hahaha

  • use your hands, much easier.

  • @TheMotiveFallacy then you can't play

  • @TheMotiveFallacy you can't play the song only using your hands, since parts of it have both the pedals going as well as you playing guitar...

  • where did you get your asics??

  • that's soooo freakin' cool.

  • can i use the looper and a delay at the same time??

  • @uva2323 yes, just use the delay dial while you have loop station active

  • Do I necessarily need two to get this effect?

  • must have cost you around 500 bucks for those dl4's eh? i'd be satisfied with just one :)

  • You need to learn how to shop ahhaa.

  • hahhahaa nice idea

    :)

  • yes, but this is how they were created.

  • actually, keyboardist samples the end of "Ice Monster" from his laptop (which is also used for most all the electronic drum samples, like Dr. L'ling, and The Pig War, as well as other things), which is the track right before this song on the album, then Dave plays this on the DL-4, which he usually sets the samples for before they start playing, since they tend to open with this song most of the time.

  • you really bought two of these lol

  • you have two dl4 ill be happy with one :(

  • this is not ok, it doesn't sound right. Nice try though.

  • it's the wrong key.

  • does dave knudson know you've revealed all his secrets?

  • My mate always talks about having 2 DL4s and ive always wondered why when one of them can do an awesome enough job but now i see why! Makes me wonder what can be done with 4 of them or even more!

  • mother of god this is so cool.

    DL4's are so sick.

  • i like your shoes.

  • Who is this song by?

  • Minus The Bear

  • this is far cooler than the song itself

  • exactly why i love the DL4.. you can do so much with it.. only limited by what you can think up.

  • wow

  • you wicked son of a gun! that's some crazy awesome stuff!

  • i need to learn to do that shit.

  • Holy shit that sounds so cool

  • what it must be like to have two dl4's

  • 400 dollarsx2 for this...

  • what are the settings you put for the pedals?

  • Nicely done!

I agree that the chords are alittle off

but over all well figured out.

I just got 1 DL4 and i'm allready needing another

  • how do you do that?

  • is the same mr clark who does the minus the bear tabits? your work is awesome man

  • yep that's me.

  • hey im not trying to be a dick but i think the chords are either wrong or are missing some notes. sounds great but it sounds a little different. great video either way. sorry if you have already pointed this out elsewhere.

  • i think most of the notes in the samples' chords are about an octave too low...

  • yeah that could be it too.

  • on the repeating notes (i can only describe them as sounding like a CD skipping? sorry) are you just holding the play button down? and is this only possible with 2 DL4's? i have one and i hold the play button down and get nothing.

  • No, the 2nd sample is recorded separately as an 8th note. That means in 4 beats, there will be 8 samples. The first one is recorded as a Quarter note. I'll upload a new video explaining how to do it in a few days.

  • alright mate, can you have up to 4 samples on each pedal (like one per footswitch?) im seriousy consdering buying one, are they easy to program?

  • No, each switch controls the sample differently:

record and stop recording / play continuously/ play once/ and half speed (or double speed) respectively. However, like Dave Knudson does, you can make one DL4 sound like several samples. He does this in "Fulfill the dream" as well as several other songs.

  • they don't use 2 of these though:/

  • Yeah they do. Dave samples each chord and then plays em back just like I am. These ones suck though, when I get my camera fixed I'll upload some better ones.

Dave has 4 of these, and Jake has at least 2 last time I saw them.

  • really? when i saw them, it was like a floor show, so i only saw one, though only jake was in front of me.

Are they worth the buy though? what would you prefer, these or the boss giga delay?

i say the dl4 only cuz of the built in loop station:D

you wouldn't happen to live in orlando would you?

  • It really depends on what you wanna do. But I would just say: go to a store and check out each one and see which one you prefer. I've never gotten to use a giga-delay, but they look awesome.

  • yeah I agree with him. I have a giga delay and its fantastic, tones of features and doesnt drain your tone much. DL-4s are cool too, you definitely cant sample stuff with a DD20 like you can with the DL-4. however DL-4s are notorious for breaking down so keep that in mind. definitely read up on both and get atleast a good 30 minutes with each pedal before making a buy, you really need to tinker with delay pedals to see what theyre really capable of

  • soundboy i feel u so fuckin much!!!!! i need one so bad but im so broke and i need to get my tele first :'(

  • wow, this is awesome. i'm just getting into minus the bear and i thought those quirky sampled parts were just arranged in a computer and played back. i had no idea he sampled/looped them live with these pedals.

damn now i really really want one!

  • good job man

  • hmm, I'm going to look into buying those

    I'm going to form a one-man band

    where I rap

    fosho....

  • dude , can you tell me what u record before playing with the loops , i mean u have to record something before right?

  • 1st chord

    9|7|9|7|10|7

    2nd chord | |0|2|3|5

be sure you're in Drop D

  • sweet!

  • This is great. I want a DL-4 now.

    :)

  • They are amazing pedals. So much fun.
