nice car.. and for the confused people: I have an 06 goat. and battling IRS is like going through hell and back. GTO's and the track dont get along too well without spending a lot of money.. so until then just join NRRA (National Role Racing Assoc) LOL
I have a 2005 GTO and I have alwasy had an engine swap in the back of my head. How did you get a 427 and an exhaust all for under 8k. where did you get the engine for that cheep.
It's just smart shopping. Texas Speed has the short block for 4399, I bought my headers for $500 used. Heads were around 1300. I traded a guy an intake I had for the L76 with injectors. All of the stock accessories off of my LS2 bolted right onto the new block. I then sold my ls2 short block for 1300 and my heads for 400. SO that's basically the build right there. I did my own labor.
so it's not the ls2?how much you charge to make it like that 427?? cuz my bro already pay like 4500k and hi only has 454rwhp on a dyno dinamic on motor stock block.his going to make that shit stroked, i think his gonna get like 40 more hp..huh?
The original short block was $4399. Then I paid to have the bolts upgraded to ARP and a couple other thing upgraded. It ended up at about $4900 for the short block.
You might want to do some more research. I have a 6.2 LS3 bored to 4.08 and a 4.1 stroke. That makes it almost a 429ci motor. Check out Texas Speed and Performance. They sell them along with several other aftermarket vendors.
That camaro has run 11.28 at 118 on motor.and will run 11.40's any time not having a cage keeps him from running any faster only the occasional 10 second pass when track officials aren't looking such as this pass. and yes it was onb a progressive 150 shot ramped in over 4 and a half seconds this car will run nines with another 50 horse of nos.
That's one thing I like about this track. The officials do tend to look the other way alot. I think they just like seeing the cars run. I would love to see the camaro go 9's that would be awesome. There aren't to many street cars capable of that.

kick ass car man! But jeez for it being a 427 stroker i would hope to see the car trapping in the mid 120's mph and running high 10's .

427 stroker???can you make the ls2 427 stroker??badass
oscaromarleon 3 years ago
To make an LS2 a 427 "correctly" you would have to resleeve the block. Mine is an LS3 (6.2l) block that's been midly bored and stroked.

That camaro ran like a 10.44 @ 129mph....it was built.

What and a stroked 427 inch ls1 isnt a little exotic. I know the guy with the camaro and its a pump gas 427 big block chevy with oval port heads.
Torgschevys 3 years ago
Oh no mine is pretty exotic. Power to weight is where I lose.

How much money did swapping to a 427 run you? Did you do your own labor?
darrend3 3 years ago
I have less than 8k in the swap, including exhaust and all. I did all my own labor except the tune.
