hey man ive got the same truck but 84 she is going for paint this weekend, trying to figure out what kind of muffler i should get, whats on this truck? let me know please, your truck is fuckin sweet and is almost the same color ive got, let me know thanks alot
DUDE A BURNOUT IN DIRT...THAT MUST HAVE BEEN HELL TO PULL OFF. i mean i have seen little kids do that shit on the big wheels but with a motor and all you should be PROUD!
gorgeous truck! i got me an ol 82 k10 for a project truck! aint nuthin better than these old chevys! cheap to fix and they last for ever if u build em right!
@wheelus8 I'm 6'1" tall, and I have to grab the wheel and jump in. It is pretty high, but it still fits in the garage with just an inch or two clearance.
@repenseattle thanks, but since those tires were less than a week old when this video was made, I was a little hesitant to do a burnout on pavement. I did it on dirt because that's where I was and someone had a camera. I also was concerned that 35" tires and a 10 bolt wouldn't get along very well on pavement. I have since blown the 10 bolt, swapped in a 12 bolt and done several impressive burnouts on asphalt. Maybe one day I'll make another video to prove it.
@TheMudking12 I figured once the tires broke loose, I wouldn't have to hold the brakes and the hill would hold me in one spot. I didn't have to though.
Daamn! Sexy truck. Might I inquire as to what gears you would reccomend for a mid 80s k10 being used as a all-around daily driver? Some light wheeling included :D
@mightyjoelaith Thanks! If you have a 4spd, TH350 or 400 I would stick with 3.42s, 3.55s, or 3.73s. If you have a 700R4, then 4.10s or 4.56s would work. It also depends on what size tire your running, and how much power your making. I would calculate your final drive ratio, tire size, and desired rpm at desired highway speed. For example, you may want to run 2400rpms at 70 mph with 33" tires, and a 1:1 ratio in your transmission's highest gear. So you would need a 3.42 gear.
@buckshot305 Ah, thanks for the tips. I've got my face wedged in some Olav Aaen books, so I should be able to figure it out pretty soon. I'm thinking 3.55s all variables considered.
Sweet lookin truck man. My best friend has a restored 87 halfton bought that color with the same set up. cept in 87 was the first year of fuel injection...
I love the old Chevy trucks I wish Chevy would make the trucks like they use too with out all the electronics, I also liked the granny low that those had you could really pull, my cuz pulled a ford 350 that had a trailer with a bobcat on it out of a ditch going up hill. one hell of a good truck. the rust got to it and had to sell it.
I just bought a 81 GMC with 79 4-bolt main bored .03 with edlebrock intake mani and 4-barrel carb.. LOVE my truck. Will get a video when the wiring is all finished
I snapped my pinion in have trying it on the road. Ya obviously not sso smart on my part but i just put the truck together for mudding and was learing about the streath on the axles LOL!!!. My next step is a set of corp 14's that i newly aquired and will built a front steering axle out of one of those.
that trucks awsome. I have the same kind, same color, but mines a 84. Just bot same tires 35x12.5 bfg mud terains. planing on puting a 6 inch susp lift.Got brand new crate motor, nothin special but does the job 350= 260hp 350 ft torq, holley 650 cfm. headmin headers, super 44 flowmaster muflers, no cats, turbo 400 trany. 10 bolt rear but want to get a 12 or 14 bolt somtime. 373 gears. srry just wanted to share. go chevy.
i did a burnout the other day with my old ATs and got a grove in the right rear tire. should have the video up soon, but i don't think i'll be doing burnouts with the new KM-2s i have on now
Those KM2's look bad!!! My buddy just put some on his Duramax. They ride great and aren't as loud as the old style tread that I've got. I used to have some 33" Buckshot mudders, and I burnt them to ground before I got my BFGs, unfortunately I didn't get it on video.
15x10 US Wheels Mod 98 (I think) They're chromed steel wheels, pretty cheap - $52 a wheel. I'm gonna upgrade to Mickey Thompson Classic II's at some point.
I got M/T Classic II's on my Jeep Cherokee right now... They look bad ass, but so do those wheels... Any chance you could send me some shots of them on your truck? I'm getting a 1978 GMC Sierra tomorrow and would like to get a set provided they look that great standing still, as well.
well i would change the body over on to the 79chevy 4x4 frame and change the center trans hump out of the 79 into the 83 cab im pretty sure it will work no problem.
