  • Hey Jourdain! I saw these videos like a long time ago! and now I'm at Berklee too, and was at the recent John Mayer clinic where you asked him another question!

and I was like dude this is that girl from youtube haha

    anyway good luck in LA!!

  • @ktkdrummer Hahaha that's awesome! Thanks so much for your comment :)

  • God what a laugh!

  • Press CTL + ALT + LEFT/RIGHT to get the screen to stop being sideways. When you want to change back, press CTL + ALT + UP

  • despite these videos being sideways....im on my 4th time watching this series. THANK YOU

  • @Whatisthescore Look, you're obviously not interested in debating facts because all your supportive statements are based on your opinions. The only remaining intent would be stirring up trouble. Correct? If not, then state your intent. I'll contend that you're not a 'failure'. Misinformed and ignorant, possibly.....

  • @blfrd I based my supporting statements off of opinions bc it was the tactic you used FIRST by calling me a failure based off of no supporting facts. I played your game, baby. And, stirring up trouble is what I do... I am the Queen of the Trolls

  • @Whatisthescore So, repeating the same faulty tactic makes your argument more valid? The only thing you've proven is that you're not interested in supporting your statements with facts. And as I said previously, I take back what I said about you being a failure. You're just misinformed about Berklee and ignorant of Mayer's fan base.

  • @blfrd It may not have made my argument more valid, it pointed out your ignorance by mimicking YOUR faulty tactic. You wish to contest that John Mayer's fan base consists of mainly teenage girls? Jesus Christ, watch any one of his concert vids on Youtube, the audience is always screaming little annoying teenage girls. grow up and listen to big boy music Bob.

  • @blfrd Actually, I take that back.. go listen to "Your Body Is A Wonderland", Bob.

  • @Whatisthescore I absolutely LOVE this comment, :D

  • ok, guess I'm gonna link this on wikipedia(dot)org/inspiration

  • @Whatisthescore Have you been to Berklee? How do you know this? I personally know a lot of people who have used Berklee as a stepping stone to reach their full potential and are now big influences in the music industry. It's all about how much of YOUR hard work and determination you put into it. Anyone can get into Berklee and just go through the classes, but its the ones who go home to study, practice, and network who "make it".

  • @jourdania05 graduated from Berklee. It was hell. Coked up teachers. Coked up students. It was hell.

  • @jourdania05 it didn't just happen to me.. it happens to thousands of students at Berklee. It's why I'm on youtube doing what i'm doing. Berklee was and still is a scam.

  • i went to Berklee this summer for a program called Vocal Summit :)

  • Why is people so excited just because he says "Radiohead - Ok Computer" ? It's a great record but the guy is teaching.. I'd rather listen to what he says...

  • @Jansigurdblack Because it's one of the best fucking albums of all time, that's why.

  • The funny thing is I think Mayer is a Berklee dropout.

  • Yup he is! Only went two semesters (one year) and then moved to Atlanta where he released his first album shortly afterward.

  • @worthingtonclint ya then he came back

  • Now we just need Dream Theater to do a Berklee clinic and the circle of irony will be complete.

  • HA, ACTUALLY...John Petrucci just did a clinic for the Berklee kids at Guitar Center on Boylston Street and I was there! I have it all on video...uploading soon!

  • Wow, really!?! He is one of my all-time favorites! You're so lucky to have seen that!!! I'll subscribe so I'll know when u upload that, not to mention that your original stuff is actually pretty good. ;)

  • Thank you for uploading this clinic! Really looking forward to that john petrucci clinic!

  • @worthingtonclint yea most people that are famous from Berklee dont actually graduate because they get picked up by a band half way through...

  • Thank you so much for sharing!

Someday I'll go to berklee too, and hope to come back to share my knowledge just like John did!

    Hard, but not impossible ;D

  • after i saw this, it totally made me rethink how i go about becoming the musician i want to be. Definitely the best thing that stuck with me after i had to leave berklee. Awesome speaker

  • I reaaaaally wish i was here.

  • again... dig it. but stop yelling! :(

  • yelling is american mentality. hysterical :)

  • no. it's american girl mentality. lol i still haven't seen these videos cause of all the yelling. thanks girls.

  • that's just ignorant.

the guy gives quality advice giving others a leg up in music...that defines "douchebag?"

your thesaurus must have a misprint.

  • as you.

  • What was the third record he mentioned? Erica something or other?

  • Erika Badu live

  • what's the third album he quoted on this video?

  • erika badu

  • I feel like I should write him a letter or something. This is amazing . I learn so much in little spurtz from this guy in just how to grow up and the decisions I have to make. Grateful fo this. Thankyou.

  • John is brilliant.

There is more wisdom about making music in this one talk (all three videos) than most people might learn their whole lives.

  • OH MY GOD i'm the blond girl sitting right there :)

  • HAHAHA!!! That's funny =)

  • dude sooo jealous! lucky!

  • to find balance is to find where the information going in, is translated into the inspiration going out. that's powerful.

  • Very understandable, yet every musician wants to be a virtuoso at some point in their life. There was a point where virtuosity was the expectation and not just song writing. It still exists but somehow virtuosity is shunned by modern musicians for the sake of popularity and fortune.

  • thanks jourdania05 for taking the time to upload these videos.

Looking forward to seeing more of these.

Just a piece of advice though, you could use window media to rotate these video back to normal. It'll boost the views and quality of your series.

    thanks again :D

  • Thanks, but I don't have Windows Media - I have a Mac. And I haven't been able to find any programs to rotate them yet - believe me, I've searched!

Keep watching, glad you like them!

  • u can do it in final cut or premiere(both r kinda expensive tho)

the new imovie is crap for video editing, it looks like they made it for home movies

  • There's just so many factors to being a popular musician - aside from good songs. There are tons of great songs from great musicians that never see the light of itunes. Now those other factors - I hope John can kindly spell them out. :P

  • i do agree with his statements on information inspiraton though thats where the creative gene kicks in to make the great ones stand out by how to use there skills in theory in unique and colorful ways that people bestow statements "like hes one of the best, and shes one of the best get born"

  • I admire john alot but some of his points here are just being said out of gest imho. Because his seaRch to be the best is not unreachable because there are players out there that are considered to be the best in there particular genre. e.g malmsteen(Practiced 8 hours a day 24/7),trucks,vaughan.If every one had that attitude then the artform would not move on you must push yourself to be the best .

  • "but some of his points here are just being said out of gest imho".

    What's gest imho?

  • yeah sorry i meant jest as in "many a true word" im not too literate lol.

  • apparently not, still doesnt make sense

  • I love the new Audio Preview..

  • i KNEW he loved Radiohead!

    THANK YOU for posting these!

  • No problem! Within the next day all of them will be up =]

  • tight

  • There's software to flip this video the right way up. Just btw

  • Thanks...but the thing is I have a Mac - and all this rotating software is either for windows or it wasn't compatible. I tried BitPlayer, and it didn't work, it keeps shutting down before I can save anything =[

  • I believe theres a way to flip it in iMovie... not sure though. Great video by the way!! Wish I could've been there!
