  • @Zachary1981 28.361th!

That reminds me of Twilight, were suddenly "Vampires" are popular

basically it reminded me of Vampire Money by MCR....but it'd be Morphing Money

  • It's inspiring to see such iconic and visonary people talking about their craft. James Cameron, Peter Jackson, Dennis Muuren, Stan Winston. They are the reason why I go to the movies, and I why I love cinema.

  • CG is awesome if you use it right, it's just there to serve the story.

  • I think what sets Cameron apart form Lucus when it comes to CGI effects is that Cameron uses more than one technique to bring his ideas to life, he used makeup, puppets, and CGI to bring the T-1000 to life, yet Lucas uses almost all CGI in his movies, it's Amazing that there's only one scene in Episiode 1 that doesn't use CGI ONE!

  • @TheDalinkwent -- very good point - Cameron owns all other directors. I remember looking at behind-the-scenes pics of Episode 1, ALL Blue screen, surrounded by blue 'boxes' with the actor sitting on a blue circle ... Lucas relies way TOO MUCH on CGI and plus i'm sick of him constantly raping my childhood !

  • @disengagejam, Even worse is that Lucas is known to use CGI even for things that's not needed, many of the sets used in the later Star Wars movies could have been done practically, now compare that nonsense to Cameron using puppets for some of the T-1000 effects, remember when the T-800 blew apart T-000 head in the hospital? Cameron could have used full CGI but instead used a puppet that looked even better and pretty creepy.

  • @TheDalinkwent -- true, prime example: During Star Wars Episode 2&3 I was thinking: hey thats a cool looking clone trooper - wonder who made the armor? Oh, sorry ... Lucas made every single clone in CGI. so looking for a prop helmet or armor you know to actually hold, tough luck (they don't exist... only 'replicas')

Speaking of great movies, I can't wait to see Aliens in blu-ray ! I hear Cameron cleared up every slide - going to be sick !!!

  • @disengagejam, My god the Clones thing bothered me too, my only question is WHY? if he didn't want to hire that many actors, he could have used like 10 real guys and then multiplied them in post, all the backgrounds were fake anyway, so he could have easily hid it, i'm also looking foward to the Aliens blu-ray release.

  • @TheDalinkwent Because of: 1. it allows for a more perffect design, 2. can look prettier, 3. id judt ambitious, 4. it is cheaper, 5. why not, if it ca look just as real!!!!!

  • @reviewreviewer1, Not always the case, Some of Inceptions most impressives scenes were done practically, the "hallway fight", "zero gravity" and even the "Train" all done mostly in camera.

  • @TheDalinkwent Yeah you are right, you can use analog, but I just don`t think the idea analog is as style films can bbe made out of entirely, byut that CGI sjhould ionky be a limited tool, unfair. Both are great styles, aand both deserve entirtre films and casn be mixed, agree??? I think it is one of the things ehich m,sakes the oprequels spec ial, the act that everythinbg we see comes from the mindd, not from a studio!!!

  • @reviewreviewer1, I agree CGI is still needed, I just wish directors wouldn't depend on it so much.

  • @TheDalinkwent Well no offense, but that is the oposite from my point. I agree analo is cool, and I think all tghose different styles should still be used, and even a lot, nut regarding CGI, I don`t think it should be used as a tool. I think there is nothing wrong with stuff like he prequels ad directors strongy depensing on CGI, but IAthink it shhould justy be balanced out with pure analog films and limited use aswell. I think all catergories, a little CGI, ionly CGI, bno CGI are all cool.....

  • @TheDalinkwent So I agreee analog should be supressed or disaapear, but CGI not either, and with rhat I mean it should be avccepted as a stywe not a tool, it just shouldn``t be the ony style, ewhat ya think?? as long as they keep making stuff like the OT I don`t mind films like the prequels wer only the actors ae real either, agree????

  • @disengagejam I think you are right a real suit would be cool aswell, but the bejhind the scenes are less imporant, and since there are full hadn drawn, and full analiog films with no CGI Aat all, the other way around should be oke aswell!!!!!!

  • @disengagejam Cameron rocks, but there is nopthing wring with all blue screen, not all films, need analog, not all have CGI eiter, I just love both, pluys common the my childhood thing is childish!!!!

  • @TheDalinkwent I love both Cameron and Lucas and think their aproaches are both cool in their own right. I think a combination of all the tactics is coo,l bnut I al;so love how the prequels were basixcly made out of CGI. I think that is both amvbitiouys and fair, cause they aRE enough filmds with no CGI at all, so one with no analog seems dair. I just hope all styles and all possible micxes get highly apreciated, what ya think??

  • Terminator 2 is my favorite sci action movie,,second place is District 9 :)

  • This second part really clarified just why so many of today's films fail to grab your attention, let alone leave a lasting memory. So many studios are just trying to make a fast buck by shitting out shallow effect-fests that good story telling seems to be a lost art now.

  • a++++++++++++

  • Technology serves art.

    good one!!

  • That is just so true!

  • T2 actually brought together a culmination of CG and real life SFX to the fore.

  • why don't they ever mention lucas?

  • why would they? Lucas didn't use CGI until the year 1998 - 99

  • Incorrect. CGI was used in the Young Indiana Jones series.

  • oh wait nevermind i thought this was older than it is...hmm yes they mention peter jackson but not george hmmmmm

  • they mentioned star wars in the first part

  • either way Lucas did use some CGI in Star Wars in 1977 and what's more important he was the one who founded ILM which did all the effects for T2

  • Lucas? Because they are talking about directors who did you CG to tell a history, not to sell toys.

  • They need to tag this for the CSET English.

  • I love T2 :D Watching this makes me realize.. lol its so ironic. Technology destroyed the earth in the movie, but technology helped create the movie o_o

  • I agree that T2 was the BREAKTHROUGH in CG animation as opposed to Jurassic Park

  • T2 was breakthrough in CG

    JP was breakthrough in animatronics

  • RIP. stan winston. thx for your magic and inspiration.
