The Emu Sp12/12 turbo/1200 all are the hottest units ever made for the music game and everything else is trying to play catch up...to get that original sound
Ive had 6 sp12 turbos/ 2 sp12/ all with the commodore 64 disk drive big ass 5.25 floopy disk..lol
I still got 5 yrs worth of disk sitting around the rest...was buying them at radio shack cheap as hell for those who don't know where to get them box of 10 for $7.99
Used to toke with these style of tracks. Stylin for a while, just catches up on you in the long run but hey, the music is good. No herb but cigarettes and living free from the greens and still enjoying the music. though listening to these kind of tracks reminds me of clutter. hehe
Just a word of edification, you are so effin raw on the beats brotha. Its producers like you that keep real raw hip hop alive. im gonna be a fam of boom bap until i die man, keep doing your thing
I fuckin hate DXA Records...LMAO....them niggas is HIP HOPPERS....All they fuckin beats are sick, they whole camp is retarded on the fuckin beats...I dont know who I like the best from DXA...but yeah famo, yall make this hip hop shit worthwhile...
@TRC931 Yes, that´s a good way to save memory and to play the samples on a lower sample rate, which gives you a dirtier sound.... when I had my S 950, I recorded nearly everything on 8 Khz samplerate, so I had enough memory for minutes of samples, that´s the other way to save memory!
I also liked to raise the treble (when I sampled with 8 kHz, I raised the treble around 8 kHz) to hear the artifacts of the samples!
And people say to me... yo DFACE's shirt is ill... Oh yeah that's the KDP1200 tee w/ the 2009 Pete Rock LE tee OG SP1200 colorway. Cop the 2010 remix tee -- KDP1200. DFACE needs his own tv show too. Congrats on the new single drop!
YO DFACE I LOST MY SP12 IN A HURRICAINE, BOTH MY 1200'S ARE GREAT THOUGH. I'M WONDERING IF YOU WOULD MIND SENDING ME A SAMPLE OF THE SP12 CLOSED AND OPEN HAT, COWBELL, CRASH, RIM AND TOMS PLEASE TO icemike1200@yahoo.com I SURELY APPRECIATE IT BRO! ALSO U MY HIT ME @ 832-206-9165 THANKS! - MIKE
FYI. The Sp12 Turbo has a major advantage over the 1200. It's called SP12 librarian. Get an old Mac and an opcode midi interface and you won't need those king kong Floppy discs. Check it out!
It doesn't matter where the classical piano sample came from. The copyright owner could still sue you. It's well known that a low budget classical CD is a very low risk source of samples. The only problem is, if your song gets published and becomes popular, you'll have to document the sample sources. Then you're in trouble.
I was jokin about the sample clearance. we sample everything. fuck it... im a sample this conversation. thanks for the input tho from both sides. nuff said
I stopped following this discussion months until you revived it. Fuck you and your convoluted interpretation of sample clearance. No one gives a shit about what you think.
yeah pop might still have to worry about the owners of the recording though!! The music itself is public domain but the owners of the masters can still com after you...If you played your own version and then sampled it then you'd be clear.
yo 846, the longest sample time u will ever get in an sp 12 (turbo) is 5 seconds and you can never have longer than 2.5 seconds for any sample, even on the 1200.. this is because the sample memory is split up into 4 chips on the sp1200 or 2 chips on the sp12, each chip can only record 2.5 seconds. best thing u can do is get another sampler to trigger from the sp like my dude here has the s950. it wont sound identical (obviously unless u sample 2 the sp then resample into the 950)
