There is a rumour about a film being planned about the Mongol invasion of the Ukraine in 1240... "The Gates of Kiev". They will be looking for a lot of Rus and late Varangian types as well as Mongols and Cumans. Supposed to start filming in late October / late November of 2012 on location in the Ukraine. More information as I get it!

Cool video and music, but It's not Russians, these guys on video have very heavy armor (Russians preferred a light/Medium armor for speed and other helmets). It's more looks like a classical fight between the Western Europeans in "Who is the best?" style.

Yeah, the armor is not russian on those guys. It's middle and western eropean armor on them. Russian armor is mostly light, more like mix between vikings and mongols types.

Excuse me, but W. Europeans usually used light armor, except the nobles, who usually wore heavy armors. In Russia, specially in Ukraine, there are several samples of heavy armors used by knyazy and vityazy.

Correct, serious armor were on knights and other nobles, common warriors used lighter armor, often just leather or chainmail. But you see here is real fight with heavy metallic weapon, just not sharpen. To stand this you need to be equipped as a medieval noble.

In Rus the whole regiment of dutch (knjaz) were dressed in good armor - lamellar, chainmails or combination with of those with plates

and that's WRONG. Vikings are the name that was given to the members of the scandinavian culture of seafarers, tradesmen and pirates. The Norsemen, people from the north, DID travel into russia, and sometimes settled there, but Russia was to the east for middle age europeans, they were "Easterners" if anything, not Norsemen, and thereby not vikings.
