I dont think Hurts dig historically that deep. Everyone hears what they want to hear-illuminated or illuminati...whatever...the idea is clear: the song is about enlightment, when "everything comes into focus" and you get a rare moment of complete and blessed understading, uncontrolled control over everything...even bein' blinded
