Personally, I prefer the F4U-4 Corsair. I'm not a great pilot, to be sure, but this plane's excellent handling characteristics and powerful engine make up for my lack of skill somewhat. 'Course, you probably could still plaster my tail in the 109. :)

Nice collection of kills! I do like the 109 ( G-6/AS with invasion stripes paint and Mk108 in the nose) though I love to fly the Spitfire Mk. IXc.(CW). Can anyone tell me if this is a "noobish" plane ( what i mean by that is that its an easy-to-fly performant aircraft like the La-7 3xB-20)?
109 is no where near a noobish plane, Spitfires are kinda considered it. (Especially the 25lbs boost) But dont let that stop you flying them. Im never called a noob for flying a spit any way. Bloody thing is the symbol of my country!
IXe has 2 x 50.cal MG's where as the IXc's have 4 x .303cal MG's. Also the 25lb's is the amount of boost the plane has. So the IXc 25lbs will be alot faster than just a normal IXc.
25lbs is faster than the IXe. and CW means clipped wing for better roll and faster top speed and a little lighter aswell. But the 25lbs will still be faster.
@A10pilot617 I don´t know if it is technicaly possible. But not even the easiest arcadish configuration would allow you to enjoy it playing like that.
@bfahren ok thanks, i have been trying for 2 days and i can't seem to do good at all in the sky... i can get off the ground and fly straight... thats where it ends if i try to turn i roll and crash
@A10pilot617 Thats because with the keyboard you have two positions, full pressed and at rest. That means when you try to turn you are "pulling the stick" as hard as you can and not many airplanes can withstand that without stalling.
But you don´t need a state of the art joystick to play it. For two years I played with just a Logitech 3D pro (39€).
@Cipher100 kind of foolish to say some1 is "noobish" for using a better plane... the british fighters were among the best... every country had its strong points, the germans had incredible tanks
@Faucon551237 the 109 was harder to fly and flight in according to pilots who have flown both planes IRL. in-Game, the spit stalls a lot moe gently, its moe smooth in the vert, and its a more stable gun platform. In addition to the lazor-hispanos that it has, its just a much easier plane to get up kills in.
Of course, flight modeling in IL2 is terrible, and I think AH2 is superior for a more accurate comparison - and there too, th spit is generally considered easier. Not that it matters.
Once you have full control of you plane,any plane you could shoot down almost anything(well ofc you can't down a Henkel Lerche with a Gloster gladiator for obvious reasons) nice flying back there,and i must say that the joystick isn't everything i use a Saitek Aviator and it's just perfect,i tried the x52 once and actually didn't liked it... too many buttons and really sensitive you really need to play till you set it right at least that's what i think,but everyman has his tastes.
Nice video, very good marksmanship. I'm looking to get a new stick because mine's gone to mush, it takes all my concentration just to keep on course... makes it hard to hit anything from more than 50yd. I need a TrackIR too, currently have about as much situational awareness as a deaf bat.
Low-altitude chases are always fun, I remember going after a Ta152 once (God only knows why he was down in the weeds in that thing), in the end he got away but with a smoking engine :D

There's no such thing as a 'noob plane'; people just whine because they don't know how to use their own properly. A decent 109 pilot can down a Spitfire the same way a decent Spit Mk.V can down a 190A.
I fly the Mk.IX 25lbs as well, and I don't see why people complain. It certainly turns well and it's fairly fast, but it has terrible acceleration, almost everything overtakes it in the dive, and compared to the 190 it has barely any firepower.
The La's are the noobiest planes in the entire damn game. Why they're allowed in most servers, I haven't a clue.
For FW-190 fliers like myself, the worst thing you can fly up against is an La. Since it can out turn you and still keep it's speed high, while you run the risk of stalling, it's a pain in the ass. Best thing to do is to go into a near blackout climb when he's around 50m behind you. He'll be forced to stop following you, and you can then turn and get him on his 6.
Can u tell me which Me 109 that was? I only saw tracers from the cowl guns, which means the wing cannon were absent. So it was likely a Fritz or Gustav, ja? I didn't see tracers from the motorkanone either. But the Cowl mgs sonded like MG 131s right?
Or am I overthinking it. I doubt they even put in realistic handling for this, or any other dogfight game. Like Topgun Combat Zones. to the Wurger driver, Eric Brown said the 190 was exceptionally agile, so it's game mechanics that give you trouble
Ah. You know, I really wish they rebuilt all the ww2 aircraft designs, to the rivet, so they can actually make realistic aerobatics. Same w/ the weapons. BTW, what's the ammo capacity in this plane for the game? & hows it handle vs the other planes? Cause in real life, the 109 killed more pilots than any plane in history from handling issues (over 10,000) alone & P-47s had nothing to fear from it.
In real life, the twin MG 131s had 300 rpg, similar to US designs. The Motorkanone had MG 151/20 w/ 200 rds or MK 108 w/ 60-65 rds.
UM, do you ever COUNT the shots it takes to bring down an enemy?
I do it w/ the Rogue Squadron series. It speeds my killing them, since I know how long I gotta fire before going after the next target! ^_^ My accuracy averages 25% or more.
the 190 was made for mid to high level combat.. so you cant go low altitude with the Laag. You already new that. :) the 109 on the other hand is good at mid to low level, or I should say better. when my group flies we have a few in 109's and a few 190 pilots... it is a good tag team while multiplaying. But its all about energy yes, you must be able to keep combat speeds at all altitude... or your dead.
La-5's and La-7's are just two of Il-2;'s most common, most over modeled aircraft in the sim. Thus I hate them. And I think most other ace's out there that fly P-51's spits, Temps or what ever will agree

i gave you 5 stars just for the paint job on your g2(?). as much as i like the 109, the la-7 is king in il2 '46. if i was on line and it was just me and an la-7 in a fight, i would be in a 109f4 and whittle on him 'till he dropped. regards; 109eff4.
I play ACES HIGH II, and LAs are a real problem since they are so good at climbing, turning, firepower and speed. So many players pilot it and i get shot down so many times by it. Almost everyone flys the LA.
If you want me to say the true, I didnt really liked it, especialy cause it's the same kind of kill many times. And there are nothing really special and awesome by turning with La's in a 109G2.
BUT I must say it's not as poor as some videos I've already seen. And if it's one of your first video, it's very good.

Nice flying! The 109 is a great plane, for sure.

Nice video, very good marksmanship. I'm looking to get a new stick because mine's gone to mush, it takes all my concentration just to keep on course... makes it hard to hit anything from more than 50yd. I need a TrackIR too, currently have about as much situational awareness as a deaf bat.
