People say Sony copied Apple, but who really cares? I have the Sony f series and couldn't be more happy. Btw I switched from a macbook white 2 genareation or mid as the fruity company called it .Had developed hirline cracks all over the case and apple said is wasn't covered under warrenty. The Z series looks really cool! Very light and portable but at the same time very powerful. I love my Sony Vaio F12. It does everything I want it to do.

@hibry276 and your point is ? actually ,this is a common misconception many people get : just because you know it first from some other company , doesnt mean it's first . apple wasnt the first to make backlit keyboard , or the first mp3 ( ipod ),or the all touch tablet . they're the first to release to the mass market , maybe . there were many products like that introduced CES every year .

about the keyboard : people borrow stuff ALLL the time . it's about who does it the best , not the first.

MacBook Pros can't compete with this. Yea, the OS is a tad better than Windows 7 but if you compare the specs, the 2009s can't touch this. Hopefully the 2010 MacBooks will have the new iCore processors along with some better graphics. Apple has to do something amazing to keep up with Sony's Z series and HP's Envy.

o got a vaio with a 230m gpu, it runs crysis smoothly, its all high, and i get around 30 fps, i can also play some of the latest games like arma 2 and nfs shift with maximum settings

Vaio Z uses the NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS GPU. that thing can hardly run L4D or CoD at its lowest settings. I have never owned an Alienware laptop but I am pretty sure those can run the above two games at high settings. Those who are thinking about getting a laptop for performance and/or gaming should not get the Z

uhhh no. it could play l4d and cod at low-medium settings. i kno cuz my friend has that laptop. The new vaio z series coming at 2010 is using another graphic card that is much superior then its predecessor. its has 1gb of ram with 1 ghz of clock speed. that can play cod at full res which is frankly amazing considering how small the laptop is compare to an xbox or a ps3 gaming device. not to say its better as a gaming console but it can take quite a few punch that can rival them in that sense.

Well the GT 330M is much more powerful than a 9300M so if you're asking if it would sovle the lags while watching HD videos on youtube , then yes most probably it will.

But there are many factors that could cause this lag (might be drivers or internet connection and etc) so you should check with Sony about this issue

I spent $2.6k total (with tax) half a year ago buying the Vaio Z and it had a LOT of problems, including occasional BSODs and screen scratching with the hand rest when lid is closed, not to mention that with the same amount of money you can get something way more powerful. I just ditched it and spent $1.7k to get something much more superior than the Vaio Z (not gonna mention company because I'm not here to advertise). Unless they really made significant changes, I'd totally stay away from Vaios

I find that hard to believe..my experience with Sony notebooks have been very great..their quality is fantastic, and if you get a good warranty, you shouldn't have to worry. Plus for the money,you won't find abetter notebook than the Vaio series.

Dell's break down and formerly are only good for old people and casual people. Things cost more for more reasons than what you paranoid'ly describe. Sony's products are quality ensured in my books because they last a long god damn time, Quality over quantity, lifespans lasting 5-10 years or more, better than Dell and it lasting 2-4 years.

exactly, Alum, magnesium were first used by Vaio back in 1995, and the so called unibody (is bullshit nothing is truly unibody until the Flex OLED Vaio comes out), and SONY also used one piece for one part in the Vaios back in 1997 with 505 series. and then feature wise, SONY only didnt add those useless ones, that's all, but the very important ones such like LED backlit for the screen, MotionEye for intergrated camera, SSD for laptops and such.

btw it was SONY's idea to use metal.
