@rejco100 Agreed, Marty was under represented here. but I still think that the biggest mistake here was featuring Kylie instead of the incredible Lisa Stansfield.
Many people have the wrong concept of this piece. Being compared to the one in 1984... It's should be given the consideration of the original. We still need a long way to go to end starvation in that part of the world. Thank God that there are artist who still want to help the cause. Yes the original version was great , and there wont' be another one as that one. BUt let's give these artis who gave there unselfish time and effort. THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION..
Sempre bella e profondamente veritiera, peccato attraversi il cuore di pochi.....e solo per alcuni istanti, di chi vede atraverso gli occhi il mondo con i propri e non con il panorama ed il calore dei sentimenti.....
And do you want to know what African kiddies received from SANTA that fateful 1984 Christmas & are still forced to supposedly 'live & die' with as a direct result of, Robert Gallo's fabricated HIV & so-called AID$! Now isn't that TRAGIC. Even more tragic though, is how BOZO continues to help the Trillion $ HIV Industry spread the LIE$ ~so that they can sell more of Gallo's bogus HIV tests & cancer chemo meds by the ton! Truly a GRAVE story indeed folks. My heart's been weeping for years too!
This was an important contribution in keeping the interest up for the millions of people suffering of prolonged starvation in different parts of Africa. This year, 1989, was dominated by the fall of communism, huge unemploymentrates caused by the stock exchange crash in 1987, and an increased focus on other areas such as Latin America & Asia, that went through some rough times. Whether the beat is compatible with today's sound is really not that interesting, because people donated money again.
i can understand Band Aid 20, even though it wasnt that good it was like an anniversary tribute, this one is awful and came out 5 years after the original?! ive never seen it until now and i'm not surprised!!
WOW did they THRASH that song BIG TIME!! Taking a GREAT classic such as this & literally raping it should be punishable by a law making it illegal for anyone involved to EVER sing again. Geesh, did they even have any type of composer or director who listened to the final version? ANYONE knowing anything about music could realize this as pure junk right off the bat. That said, some of those female singers were REALLY hot. :) :)
Omg i know. Y do they always make other versions with good songs like this. It's like stop murdering the song. This also goes to "We are the world" how they made a new version (it's terrible).
Some songs are untouchable and i would appreciate if they just leave the original in my head at peace.
Bananarama, Big Fun, Bros, Cathy Dennis, D Mob, Jason Donovan, Kevin Godley, Glen Goldsmith, Kylie Minogue, The Pasadenas, Chris Rea, Cliff Richard, Jimmy Somerville, Sonia, Lisa Stansfield, Technotronic and Wet Wet Wet. A few of them I had to check on Wikipedia cause I couldnt remember them. 11 years had passed after all! ehehehe
Band Aid 2010,,,,HAITI-USA ! Its Time,we prodused a song dedicated to all those poor people who need our help. Its Time, and we NEED this song to re-build Haiti (REBAR included) signed -Glad
Podem mudar os cantores, podem mudar a versão musical, mas o que conta é a intenção de ajudar quem mais precisa, as crianças, bem hajam, silvia, from portugal, ajudem .
It's a shame that most artists (if you can call them that), with a few exceptions (most notably Rea, Cliff and a group whose name eludes me), don't seem to realise the suffering taking place in the places they sing about!
It doesn't matter much to me which version is bad or which is good. What matters is, if the message remain true as it were 25 years ago, thank goodness for the kindness and generosity of those who donated to the Feed the World charities. What would be cool however is having all the performers from the 1984 original recording, the 1985 Live Aid participants, the performers on this video and those who performed in the 2004 version. That would be a cool performance IMHO. God Bless us all...
First baby is Kylie, kid actress, somehow roped into this gay showbiz event. Second is the genuinely talented Chris Rea. And the rest, just gay showbiz. Girl from NW England even does a showbiz show-off voice quiver.

wow this is a heap of poo, the original is the only good one, the 2004 is bullshit its got a godamn rapper in it for got sake ruining music as usual well rapping isnt music, its words with a beat from a keyboard
I agree with everyone this one is good the original is good but the 2004 version sucked big time. I think its because in the 2004 version the artists kinda looked and sounded like they just didnt care to be there.
Frankly, the fact that these people were giving unselfisly of their time and talents is enough to merit praise. Yes, I preferred the original, but both versions had the same intent and similar outcomes. These artists gave something positive, not crticism of other people's sincere efforts.
what you have to remember guys and girls. this was made in a music time when this sort of funky beat was in allmost every pop song. Theese pop stars sing in the style that was popular at the time. and beleive me it was!
they didnt make the record to be a hit,it was made to try to support all the people starving,i dont care if they make it every year as long as the profits go to the needy..
But doing something it's better to do nothing. Normally we waste the time telling that the effort will not be enough - or will not solve the problem. Maybe.. but may take out the hunger of a child - while we're waiting that someone teach them how to catch a fish in countries at war... or in countries waiting for a raindrop. We can do anything.. or we can tell that this anything is usefull and sit back and wait if someone will do anything...
every time people wanna feel good about themselves they just give something to Africa and let the world knows about it, but in fact they never do any thing to resolve the problem. I wish they could practice that chines proverb" don't give me fish, just show me how to catch one"

i don't care. it just brings back memories. merry christmas.
Lol!!..give me a break...who are these people???...nothing compares with the old and original version..the quality of the artist is superb!!!..George Michael, Bono, Sting,Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Boy George, Talk Talk, etc....and...a big etc,,,
Who cares if its not as good as the original was nothing is? If it saved some lives in Africa that's what it was made for not the journalists of the NME.
I disagree. I like this version also! Kylie does a great job and so does Lisa Stansfield! The 84 version is a tiny bit better though. But it's great to see those stars together!
Neither this 1989 version, nor the recent insulting Band Aid 20 version are as "genuine" as the first with Bob Geldoff.
At least the 1989 version wasn't as bad as the latest, where we have loads of insincere artists just trying to get themselves some limelight...
