  • Neither this 1989 version, nor the recent insulting Band Aid 20 version are as "genuine" as the first with Bob Geldoff.

At least the 1989 version wasn't as bad as the latest, where we have loads of insincere artists just trying to get themselves some limelight...

  • sorry, Boy george can not be replaced

  • like the older version better:) but it isn't bad though

  • now!!!!!!! giro 555

  • horrible artist, horrible song, but NOT the original from 1984 this one is fucking awesome!

  • fduijhfdssjkhadsjklhdsfd

  • what a cheap cover version..........horrible

  • Great Song

    30 people don't know when it's christmass

  • Marty Pellow is such a wonderful singer!

  • @rejco100 Agreed, Marty was under represented here. but I still think that the biggest mistake here was featuring Kylie instead of the incredible Lisa Stansfield.

  • this is much better than the 1984 version

  • band aid 1984 > band aid 2 > band aid 20.

this version is awesome because of 1:42, marti pellows voice is easily on par with bonos in the original

band aid 20 was just shocking

  • @wake151291 That's a big, fat no this comment. Sorry, bro.

  • best part of this sucky video is Lisa Stansfield.. the only REAL soul in the whole lot!

  • kylie minogue ruins everything

  • 1984 version is the best!

  • this is the 2nd best behind the original, dont like the latest version

  • Many people have the wrong concept of this piece. Being compared to the one in 1984... It's should be given the consideration of the original. We still need a long way to go to end starvation in that part of the world. Thank God that there are artist who still want to help the cause. Yes the original version was great , and there wont' be another one as that one. BUt let's give these artis who gave there unselfish time and effort. THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION..

  • Sempre bella e profondamente veritiera, peccato attraversi il cuore di pochi.....e solo per alcuni istanti, di chi vede atraverso gli occhi il mondo con i propri e non con il panorama ed il calore dei sentimenti.....

  • I hope they don't make another band aid song only because it will have people like Justin bieber and N-Dubz init :(

  • The song itself the music and lyrics....still the best music

  • This was an important contribution in keeping the interest up for the millions of people suffering of prolonged starvation in different parts of Africa. This year, 1989, was dominated by the fall of communism, huge unemploymentrates caused by the stock exchange crash in 1987, and an increased focus on other areas such as Latin America & Asia, that went through some rough times. Whether the beat is compatible with today's sound is really not that interesting, because people donated money again.

  • i can understand Band Aid 20, even though it wasnt that good it was like an anniversary tribute, this one is awful and came out 5 years after the original?! ive never seen it until now and i'm not surprised!!

  • una versión realmente asquerosa. Insuperable la del año 84

  • the 1984 version was so much better :/

  • This actually came out, I'm Glad I never heard it.

  • No No No! No Boy? No Bono? No George? NO WAY!

  • Bullshiiit

  • Totally crap! All I can see is the hideously manufactured pop music of the late 80s in this, I hate it!

The 1984 original was, and still is the best! :)

  • WOW did they THRASH that song BIG TIME!! Taking a GREAT classic such as this & literally raping it should be punishable by a law making it illegal for anyone involved to EVER sing again. Geesh, did they even have any type of composer or director who listened to the final version? ANYONE knowing anything about music could realize this as pure junk right off the bat. That said, some of those female singers were REALLY hot. :) :)

  • @beautysreturn

Omg i know. Y do they always make other versions with good songs like this. It's like stop murdering the song. This also goes to "We are the world" how they made a new version (it's terrible).

Some songs are untouchable and i would appreciate if they just leave the original in my head at peace.

  • jeeeeezus NOTHING and I mean NOTHING will EVER match upto the 1984 version the original is always the best...btw where's Bob in this?

  • the guy singing boy george line is hilarious.. he sound awful

  • @hassleandhurrylife19

I think u mean everyone on there sounds awful.

Nothing beats the original and the "original singers"!

  • lol really strange version...dont like it

  • Dance music doesn't seem to feet in these cause. It's weird.

  • who aaaaare these ppl?? :P

  • Bananarama, Big Fun, Bros, Cathy Dennis, D Mob, Jason Donovan, Kevin Godley, Glen Goldsmith, Kylie Minogue, The Pasadenas, Chris Rea, Cliff Richard, Jimmy Somerville, Sonia, Lisa Stansfield, Technotronic and Wet Wet Wet. A few of them I had to check on Wikipedia cause I couldnt remember them. 11 years had passed after all! ehehehe

  • Where you read 11 read 21 :D Beside being old I lost my maths abilities!

  • Band Aid 2010,,,,HAITI-USA ! Its Time,we prodused a song dedicated to all those poor people who need our help. Its Time, and we NEED this song to re-build Haiti (REBAR included) signed -Glad

  • Podem mudar os cantores, podem mudar a versão musical, mas o que conta é a intenção de ajudar quem mais precisa, as crianças, bem hajam, silvia, from portugal, ajudem .

  • The first one is Kylie Monogue right?

  • Yes it is :)

  • Thanks for answering X)

  • Nothing has change, subsaharian africa is still the same

  • Maybe not for everyone, but the changes happend one by one... don´t lose your faith and still help the people... and sorry for my basic english

  • A lot has changed! There have been positive developments in Africa and worldwide thanks to Band Aid, ONE and other organisations and activities.

And thanks to people like Bono, Bob Geldof or Midge Ure and their supporters the world is aware of poverty and need in our world!

  • Typical! PWL managed to ruin this! You think the people behind Band Aid 20 would have learned from this.

  • still the same nothing changes

  • It's a shame that most artists (if you can call them that), with a few exceptions (most notably Rea, Cliff and a group whose name eludes me), don't seem to realise the suffering taking place in the places they sing about!

  • WHO ARE ANY OF THESE PEOPLE??

  • @jeffster111made i can spot, kylie monogue, jason donovan, wet wet wet, bross, jimmy somerville, lisa stansfield....

  • Its from before his generation, so he dosent know.....and incidentally, missed out on the best generation growing up :)

  • a bunch of wankers by the look of it

  • Nothing is changed, those ppl are still in need, you can make a song and brag about it, but nothing is changed.

  • I like this version its more fun :-)

  • Isn't Lisa Stansfield singing as well in this? (after they show Sonia the first time around)

  • It doesn't matter much to me which version is bad or which is good. What matters is, if the message remain true as it were 25 years ago, thank goodness for the kindness and generosity of those who donated to the Feed the World charities. What would be cool however is having all the performers from the 1984 original recording, the 1985 Live Aid participants, the performers on this video and those who performed in the 2004 version. That would be a cool performance IMHO. God Bless us all...

  • All four version performers singing as ONE VOICE to help ease worldwide hunger and stopping poverty from killing our fellow man.

Feed the World, please make this happen.

  • i agree with btless but the older version is better

  • First baby is Kylie, kid actress, somehow roped into this gay showbiz event. Second is the genuinely talented Chris Rea. And the rest, just gay showbiz. Girl from NW England even does a showbiz show-off voice quiver.

  • I have no clue in who these ppl are... But i can remember who each and every one in the " 84 " version was... ?????... go figure... LOL

  • Who ARE these people?

  • the 1st version of this is so way better than this one its okay i guess but the voices are differen it sounds dodged:(

  • 1:50

  • what is this shit?!!!

  • 1:51 ?who is she?

  • That's Sonia who was famous for her UK No.1 You'll Never Stop Me Loving You.

  • wtf why is STEPHEN KING singing a christmas song that doesnt make any sense........

  • Yeah that was...scary. O.o But since he's the master of horror I guess that worked out didn't it? XD

  • I was 18 when this version came out. It's hard to imagine 20 years have come and gone.

  • these unknow singers are: Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard, Jimmy Sommerville, Bros, Bananarama, Lisa Stansfield, Chris Rea, The Pasadenas, Wet Wet Wet, Technotronic and others.... these singers sang to help Africa in 1989... I hope that another time the famous singers sing to help the children of Africa

  • im not against these singers cause i dont know who they are but they could have at least done a different song. thats why you dont hear about the ones after the original.

  • Sir Cliff is superior to all the other singers on this record and on the strength of Cliff this is the best version!!

  • who the fuck are these people...dont know a one of 'em

  • Don't know any of them? The very first singer is Kylie Minogue - one of the most famous women on the planet - and has been for the last 20+ years!

  • Correction..MOSTt of the planet..America's cleary not that familiar with her ...and THATS the only place that matters....

  • Mainly 80s icons, Bros, Comunards, Wet Wet Wet, Sonia, Kylie, and even Cliff Richard!

  • Cliff Richard??...I didnt think he was real...I always thought he was just a fictional character that the dude on The Young Ones always fawning over .....How 'bout that..Learn something new every day

  • Feed the world. End starvation..and a Merry Christmas to all. Long live humankind and peace.

  • tottaly killed the orginal version

  • this sucks!oringinal band aid was the best

  • Wow! Kylie Minogue in 1989!

  • the only person i can identify in this video is Kylie Minogue. WTF they took oneof the best christmas songs and destroyed it. Total wannabees in this vid :(

  • I can imagine people listening to this in 1989 and thinking "What the hell happened to music in the last five years?!".

Still beats the 2004 version though.

  • wow this is a heap of poo, the original is the only good one, the 2004 is bullshit its got a godamn rapper in it for got sake ruining music as usual well rapping isnt music, its words with a beat from a keyboard

  • @djsims2 couldn't agree more!

  • don't be so narrow minded, music is anything you hear with the intention of listening to music.

  • the original was best, then this one, then 2004. But nthe original was still much better!

  • The only version that is better than the original was the live version from Wembley. It was overwhelming

  • Nn guardate a quale versione sia migliore ma al messaggio che contiene...e che dovrebbe raggiungere il cuore di tutti noi..

  • I agree with everyone this one is good the original is good but the 2004 version sucked big time. I think its because in the 2004 version the artists kinda looked and sounded like they just didnt care to be there.

  • This is pretty good. I think the orginal is the best. The 2004 version was the worst. This is just my opinion though

  • 2004 was the worst version. I like this. Its bad in a good way. Bananarama were in two of them

  • This is the worst remake of any song ever. It is horrible to listen to.

the 84 original is an absolute classic- this sounds like it was put together in 10 mins. Also, bar kylie it is full of Z list celebs.

  • erm i dont think Sir Cliff is one of those he is more like an A lister!!

  • Ich wusste ja wie du es meinst, Chaosfly100 :-)

  • Heilgabend ist am 24ten, Weihnachten am 25/26 Dez.

    Grüsse aus München

  • anyone who says this version is the best needs to be sectioned

  • Sorry!!..The 2005 Version Was better Than This One,,,,3 Singers To Sing Bono"s Immortal Line...

  • die alte version is viel besser

  • it wasn't because there was "another " famine.unfortunately there is a constant famine in these third world countries :-(

  • i love the version from 84 ! omg, the best christmas song ever <3

  • Music had changed since the first release in 1984...this was done in 1989! Its a good remake...not as good as the original but still GREAT!

  • Frankly, the fact that these people were giving unselfisly of their time and talents is enough to merit praise. Yes, I preferred the original, but both versions had the same intent and similar outcomes. These artists gave something positive, not crticism of other people's sincere efforts.

  • oh god it sounds like a bad pop song, they dont get the feeling! Its not nice if you ever heard the original!

  • what you have to remember guys and girls. this was made in a music time when this sort of funky beat was in allmost every pop song. Theese pop stars sing in the style that was popular at the time. and beleive me it was!

  • Who's that newsr eporter please?

  • they didnt make the record to be a hit,it was made to try to support all the people starving,i dont care if they make it every year as long as the profits go to the needy..

  • Why was this done? There was already a great version.

  • because there was another famine so they re did the song to make more money simple really!

  • awful version... love the original... this one is really bad!!

  • i preffer the 1984 and the band aid 20 one

  • This is one of the darkest moments in British Pop History.... and it kills this song

  • But doing something it's better to do nothing. Normally we waste the time telling that the effort will not be enough - or will not solve the problem. Maybe.. but may take out the hunger of a child - while we're waiting that someone teach them how to catch a fish in countries at war... or in countries waiting for a raindrop. We can do anything.. or we can tell that this anything is usefull and sit back and wait if someone will do anything...

  • i commend the effort but man this song was horribly done!

  • It's beautiful 80's song (hm, but I didn't say I love 80's, but it's good)

  • S/A/W had a christmas No.1 with this Song in Dec.1989

  • every time people wanna feel good about themselves they just give something to Africa and let the world knows about it, but in fact they never do any thing to resolve the problem. I wish they could practice that chines proverb" don't give me fish, just show me how to catch one"

  • You're right. Throwing money at a problem doesn't solve it, it just prolongs it.

Education is fundamental in solving any problem.

  • I don't know about the rest of the singers but at least Cliff Richard has had a long term commitment with charitable organizations through his 50 years career, donated a lot of money and supported help efforts to different countries having travelled to some of those places too.

  • The worst redo in history.

  • That was pure shit...

  • Chris Rea looks drunk

  • I think I like the original, with Bono, Sting, George Michael, and all them more. Also, I'm all for the original.

  • I also think so

  • i know three hear in aid stars we are the world and this

  • This is okay, but the one with Paul Young, Boy George, Sting, Duran Duran, etc., is better.

  • a lot better!!

  • This is the best version.

  • who's that in 3.18- 3.32?

  • Comment removed

  • i like that christmas song by band aid 20! Good!

  • Who is that at 0:18?

  • I guess it's 'small town boy' Jimmy Somerville ;)

  • Correct. Ck out the Communards music, just gorgeous

  • Best Version ever!!!!!!! :)

Matt Goss is Just the best!!!! :P

The singer at 0145 is Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet!!! :)

  • The orignal rocks

  • i agree the original is much more!!!!

nobody can beat the original artists

  • i like this version!! both versions are awesome..does anybody know who the singer is at 0145 and the older george michael lad?? stanfield in a league of her own!!

  • does anyone know who directed this video?

  • this is good but the original is better

  • turd

  • quite good but the original-1984- is the best ever..merry christmas

  • The guy from Bros appears to have a problem in controlling his body

    Thanks for the post BTW

  • LOL and Sara is laughing at his spasms.

  • this is awful

  • ps: he said this about the 1984 version!!!

  • my fav version is the newest one.

haha what a dik lol (not u, the guy your talking about)

  • Morrissey said" In the first instance the record itself was absolutely tuneless. One can have great concern for the people of Ethiopia, but it's another thing to inflict daily torture on the people of England. It was an awful record considering the mass of talent involved. And it wasn't done shyly it was the most self-righteous platform ever in the history of popular music." (wikipedia)

i don't care. it just brings back memories. merry christmas.

  • This one is the best version-not the 2004 edition :p

  • this is tonnes better than the turgid band aid 20

  • By far the best version ever.

    Viva StockAitken&Waterman!

  • Lol!!..give me a break...who are these people???...nothing compares with the old and original version..the quality of the artist is superb!!!..George Michael, Bono, Sting,Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Boy George, Talk Talk, etc....and...a big etc,,,

    cheers

  • kylie, cliff richard, wet wet wet, lisa stansfield etc, all singers from 1989.

  • Who cares if its not as good as the original was nothing is? If it saved some lives in Africa that's what it was made for not the journalists of the NME.

  • I disagree. I like this version also! Kylie does a great job and so does Lisa Stansfield! The 84 version is a tiny bit better though. But it's great to see those stars together!

  • i can't believe kylie was that beautiful!!!

  • Oh yeah! She's still a great looking woman and she's aged better than others....

  • If you look on Wikipedia, there's a page listing the line ups for each version of the song.

  • oh u ppl r so funny....how did u not knw this? classic. x

  • the best version, best played very loud!

  • That's Cliff Richard

  • Who is dat @ 2:14?

  • The Jackson 5 but Michael was on tour

  • impossible, as only british, irish and australian artists participated in band aid II. it's the pasadenas.

  • u cant be serious. its cliff richard who is one of like the most well known artists lol.
