@FortressCraftQuest there is iron in this map but it's a long way to it. path east commons, caves of confusion, west commons, swamp of despair. i forgot which one form intersection four leads to a nether portal where the iron gold and diamonds are.

@darthdagger5000 no his bed is against the wall. if you sleep on a bed and within two spaces of it it is dark enough for monsters to spawn ie: the dark spaces are behind his wall the bed is against. This was changed in the full release though allowing you to sleep anywhere if there are no monsters around.

Maybe if you increase your house's height by one more block, it should prevent monsters from spawning. I think in order to qualify as a house, it has to have a room at least 5x5x3 dimensions and made out of something other than dirt.

If a bed stand with the Pillow-side next to a wall and behind that wall it is dark then there will spawn monsters, also when your bed is sorrunded by darkness, but I think that's obvious :D hope I could help you
