okay, so im not hating on this band, but i thought this was cool, ABRs favorite band is BTBAM, BTBAM has songs called viridian and White walls on one album, this band has a song called meridian and a song called white washed, and then Tommy rogers from BTBAM appeared on indonesia, that just makes me happy :D since BTBAM is my favorite band, im glad a newer band is paying some serious homage to them

these guy sknow like to play guitar and compose melodic parts but omg they suck at composing good breakdowns. All their breakdowns are so artificial and light there's no weigth in it. Sounds like a joke everytime. It sucks cuz I love the rest of their songs but jeez their breakdown just don't do it. I dunno if it's cuz they're too fast or what but they really don't have the agressivity and intensity you'd expect from a good breakdown.

@GDLafferty well wether you try to convince me that they're better because they're more complicated wont change a thing in my opinion. Many other bands have intricate breakdowns and they sound hard. Theirs have no power at all. Maybe they should go back to a couple triplets and actually get the job done. But I don't think that's the problem I think that's just cuz the drum and their overall sound just isn't heavy enough.

I actually prefer ABR's technical breakdowns over the heavier breakdowns some other bands come up with. Like GDLafferty said, they're definitely well-constructed.

It's a matter of taste, really. No one's to tell an artist what their music should sound like, as that would undermine the whole concept of art.

If ABR feels like doing breakdowns this way, then who are you to tell them to do it differently?

Opinions are subjective. That's all there is to it.

I'm just saying what I think could improve the song in my view what's the problem. I jsut think it's dumb when people get all offended and try to be like "well it's better than..." just because it's more technically complicated. Trying to denigrate other types of music by doing so. You like it? good fo ryou. I don't. Telling me it's "well constructed" is meaningless.

August Burns Red is my favorite screamo band cause unlike most of them, they dont just play open chords the whole time really fast to make them selves sound good. their instrumentals actually shape the song and they do good with doing that. this band is the shit

But regardless, it's the music itself that matters most, no matter it's label.

Still thought that'd be worth pointing out, since the difference is, in this case, quite significant.

I would say the difference is mostly in the vocals and lyrical context, but the music itself plays, of course, a role in judging it's genre as well.

The magnificent musical complexity and heavier vocals of ABR are what defines them as metalcore rather than screamo, in my eyes. But then again, I'm not all that educated on the subject.

I would assume that the genre is picked by the artist or whatever label they're signed to, or depends mostly on it's influences.
