Actually, I am pretty sure he did want out of WWE by that point. It comes a point when you simply have had enough and I'm sure he did. He just needed something to tell him to stop, to which his injuries did. Even when he was asked back for Edge Appreciation Night, reports were that he didn't even want to be there. Who can blame him with how awful WWE is.

@MystikWizard Edge loved WWE, he loved wrestling and he didn't wanna leave. His injures told him otherwise, though. You can't always believe reports. It's the same for 'Taker. He loves it but he can't always be there and is close to leaving 'cause of injuries.

It's not that Edge doesn't wanna be there, but he wants to move on with his life. He's getting his acting career started.

if you think Edge "loved" the WWE after all those years of working for them, think again. Yes, believe it or not, in terms of enjoying the business .... people move on from wrestling and don't stick with it for eternity. Take me, for instance. Watched wrestling since 1990, got sick of it around 2005/2006, and scaled back my watching of the product. Now, I don't watch either WWE or TNA any longer. I simply read the newsboards.

Frankly, compared to what I enjoyed in the 90's and early 00"s, I absolutely despise what Vince turned wrestling into and I simply can not enjoy or support it any longer. Batista is another one, for instance, who is in the same boat. Enjoyed it at one point, but hated the PG direction Vince took it in. The passion of enjoying the product as a fan dies after doing it for so long. I am sure that Edge honestly couldn't wait to get out of the business.

This is the Edge I know and love best. Yes, he went on to win 30+ championships and became one of the biggest names in the WWE (and it sucks that he's been forced to retire due to injuries), but I always preferred his early career when he was the mysterious loner who would freak out and go beserk on his opponents. I was at that show in Austin. There is a crowd shot from the show earlier (before Edge's match) and I am the only person standing up behind him. It was obvious that the ending was botched, but it was still a good debut and Edge had a great career. More titles than anyone in WWF/E history.
