Hello. All. This song was on a record (yes, record) which I played constantly in my college dorm room. Her voice is SOFT, SOOTHING & ANGELIC. She faced her cancer with courage and, therefore, has provided us all with inspiration as well as some excellent music. THANK YOU, OLIVIA. Peace & Love, Bread & Justice for ALL.
@kajehgb Hey! it's me!- your ole bubby Lindawatcher" How are you doing ?? Are you here insulting people too! loks like you are. People hate me because I get on here and say whatever will insult the people most- their interests. They hate you because of your snotty attitude and holier than thou remarks... Good talking to you!!!
@jsilence418 Have You Never Been Mellow was an awesome song. Don't post comments about songs unless you can develop at leat an iota of musical taste. Your comment was assinine
@footboydl For the love of olivia are you going to post this a million times? I get the point, it still stinks! if you want excellent taste ,check out my favourites, no don't,shock would kill you
@jsilence418 If you just said that Livvy wasn't your cup of tea. I would have left it alone. You're entitled to like whoever you want. But say she "stinks" and I have to say she's a multi-national superstar with 100 million records sold and millions of adoring fans. Who knows you're even alive besides your family and maybe a few friends?
@jsilence418 Yes, only the elite like yourself love ZZ Top. You are showing your ignorance more and more with each reply. Olivia has the voice of an angel, but you can't appreciate anything that doesn't have screeching guitars or unidentifiable lyrics.
ONJ's song, "Sam" reminds me of my first love, Stan. He liked this song and "Have You Ever Been Mellow", so whenever I hear those songs, I think and smile in rememberance of that short time when I was really happy before he dumped me unceremoniously so that he could go to Georgia Tech. I was sick for a week. Still like this songs, though.
this was a classic 70's hairstyle not 60's....considering she's using an SM-58 mic which were more or less top of the line for the early 70's and mainstay mic's of the mid 70's I'd say this dates back to that period
Olivia's first single was "Til You Say You'll Be Mine" was released back in 1966. But it wasn't until the early seventies that her her songs topped the charts. If radio weren't so bigoted, she'd still be topping the charts. Forty years old is pretty much the cut off date for radio. We should turn on the internet radio and turn off our local radio stations. Olivia is such a beautiful singer! 5 Stars and a thousand more to go with it.
it is funny you say that because I have all ways felt that most musicians don't have anything to say until they hit 40 look how many artists that their best work was after 40
Wounded vulnerability what descriptive adjectives to describe her style of singing, you know for so many decades and so many years the beautiful singer has been performing her songs all over the world, the audience connected with her and her wounded vulnerablity beacuse we can all relate to this in our relationships as we mature in life and that is exactly how she sings with wounded vulnerablity.
I was a teenager when she started doing movies, I was so in love with her, I went nuts when she did Grease and into orbit when she did Xanadu. She was every young man's dream girl back then and we all hated John Travolta back then cuase he was with her instead of us. (Hehe) I mean we all wished we were him.
in fact this dress i remember she appeared with when she was promoting the album of Dont Stop Believin from the Johnny Carson Show , she also sang Every Face Tells a Story in which bombed so quick in the charts back then she stopped promoting it and disappeared fast. Does anybody know how to load this song from the Johnny Carson show where she sang Every Face Tells A Lie, i would but dont know how
the Don't Stop Believin' album was released in 1976. It was her first album recorded in the United States. This song was Olivia's NINTH #1 on the U.S. "Adult Contemporary" chart.
Cripes that song makes my eyes wet.We had a cat named sam back then and he got hit by a car and we didnt tell mom about it cuz she didnt handle that stuff well. She would call out sam sam, and when olivia says the door is open wide, ugh tears
Unfortunatly, nowadays, every little female wannabes have less troubles trying to emulate the current crap on the air. To do this type of song(Olivia's that is) requires talent and practice... and work. It is much easier to try to be an American Idol than to really work as Olivia NJ did.
Olivia skated fast landing Grease within a year, and went on to pop-rock with "A Little More Love," and "Magic." Then on to dance music "Physical" and "Make a Move on Me." Her music became less adult and more youth-oriented, because the young audiences of the 1980s didn't care about serious matters like the young music audience in the 1970s who were influenced by the 1960s.
This song came out in 1976/1977 when this sort of melodic Dionne Warwick/Burt Bacharach pop music was on its last leg. Serious, adult themed music in pop and rock would very quickly be replaced by disco, dance, punk and New Wave.
this ocurred in the 70's when all was being made into a star, the reason we all fell in love with her is because we were seeing like never before how astar was being born and since we were following her every move well we all wanted to be a star too and how to become one this was of the 70;s before Gtrease not the 60's please
Olivia is a one of a kind! Truely a great person and beautiful performer. Jessica Simpson reminds me of her a lot. looks, and beauty. of course Olivia is so much more intelligent. That goes without saying.
She looks so stunning here, Gorgeous song, Sexy Sultry.. The Good Old days, the Good Old ways.

to jsilence418- You do not know what talent is or good music.
Olivia Newton had all number one songs in the 70's.
Your comments are vile and you are obviously very immature and rude.
Maybe someday if you get cancer in a private area, see how it feels if someone jokes over that.
Your disgusting.
Olivia's music was Terrific.

60's, 70's what's the difference! You could have even called it 'from the 40's', when Olivia was born (1948) and ironically she is 60 years of age!
