  • This was a great mix but Chad Jackson's that year was even better. I preferred it to his 1987 mix. Anybody know where I can hear it? I had a copy on tape from the Robbie Vincent show that year but I lost it!

  • 0:47 nyan cat :D

  • Geweldige tijd! If I could turn back time...

  • Is that Robin Albers at 1,26 ???

  • Is that Robin Albers at 1:26 ???

  • mrvoorn I was one of the people that cheered you that night and totally agree with everything you said ,It was supposed to be a mixing competition not a scratching comp.I blame Paul Hardcastle lol

  • Orlando Voorn also said that anybody could do what DJ Cheese did, which he tried the year after with a somewhat pale imitation of some of the DJ Cheese tricks like the handcuffs some really awefull scratching (Whats your name...dj fix...)and a outfit taken straight from the furious 5 during their leather period =)

That said his 86 mix was awesome

  • Yo, whats the first song that he plays?

  • @Mcawsome7 Full force alice + whistle just buggin + Doug e fresh the show

  • oh gosh....all this time i thought i was like looking for 88 rare mixes when it was 86 majors --- damn too old..

  • Heee Orlando,

    pffffffff

    wat een tijd

  • Had the Final on a 'Scritchy-scratchy' tape! Ace to hear it again! Heard DJ Cheese mix (Not full), but can't find Chad Jackson 2nd! This is what got me into mixing!

  • Amazing stuff Mr Voorn, back when hip hop had fun... been listening/mixing your records since late 90s, without a doubt some of the very best in my collection and a huge influence on my own productions, keep em coming!! Any plans to play in the UK again soon?

  • Hahaha, inderdaad. Kareltje.

  • Respect For DJ's works, Love that Mixing & Scratching Style, C la classe... I always recorded DMC's Mixes & previews on tape, cd's & MP3 now, THX A LOT Steph. from France since 198...

  • Hi Orlando,

Big compliments!!! Love the work that you made. The Dimitry/ Chemistry CD that's in my car's stereo is has so many scratches now, that I'm almost not able anymore to play it. I really don't care so much for the cd, but your tracks "Boomerang" and "Faith" are simply genious! Where can I buy the tracks?

When are you playing in Holland again? simetime soon? It's been a while......

    RESPECT for what you've done!

    cheers,

    Martijn

  • well i still spin twilight 22,the imperial brothers, the cold crush brothers, freddy b & the mighty mic masters etc.. besides pete rock dj premier dj revolution marco polo large pro the alchemist ..

there was and is always good hiphop besides all the garbage you ment...i'm glad i never had to produce post techno were cybotron left off..

i am the only dutch dj that made a scratch record in the US for the US market..never had to cross over, totally did what i'm best at,cuttin over raw MPC beats.

  • Vette Shit man !!!!

  • @ Fukademous, indeed i grabbed the mic out of Tony Prince his hand, and guess what buddy he still remember's it and get's angry about it.lol..Dj Cheese was a hell of a scratcher but that was not my point at the time. I did some scratching too but mixed more as they called it Disco Mix Championship so that's why i made that comment and got aplauded for it by many people since Dj Cheese did not mix one record. After that they should've changed the name to DISCO SCRATCH CLUB since nobody mixed;)

  • Yu waz robbed, Personally none of the mixes were as good as the one u did with Time/Prince mixed with(at the same timeas)rat in mi kitchen/UB40. I pretty sure that was u round the same era. Still remember it now 20 odd years later.(would kill for a copy). lol

    Respect Jamie Jam/Manchester England

  • Damn!!!!!!! that's dope, all you're comments too

    You made history!

    one love!

  • The DMC DJ Championship started at DMC's first DJ Convention in London in 1985. A young Londoner called Roger Johnston won the first event .

It took America's DJ Cheese in 1986 to bring the best out of the turntables by scratching his way to DMC's first ever World Title. An unhappy runner-up, Holland's Orlando Voorn grabbed the mic from the events MC and founder Tony Prince and bellowed the immortal word's "What is this, a Mixing Competition or a Scratching Competition?"

  • Actually Tony Prince asked Orlando did he have a few words he would like to mention in which he did!

  • That's isn't what Tony Prince says on the DMC website.....sounds like sour grapes cos you couldn't or didn't scratch!!

  • and Cheese did it all at the age of only 14 !!!!

  • Very Cool :D!!!

  • cooooool!
