nice finds man, i also buy a lot of games at thrift stores.i was in a goodwill the other day and bought a box of 26 NES games for only $30 and was surprised to find dragon warrior 2 in the box. paying $30 and finding a game worth $25 in the set was great :)
@sho5621: Wow! 26 NES games for 30 bucks was a great deal! Dragon Warrior 2 makes it the deal even sweeter! Congrats! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for your kind comment! Most of what you see is my N64, Gameboy, Boxed SNES, Boxed NES, Sega Master System, and TG-16 games ... seen in varying degrees from this video shot. I have a large loose cart collection for Genesis, SNES, and especially NES which is not shown here. ANd yeah, I try to find bargains at the thrift stores and flea markets! It's addicting for me! Thanks for watching my video!
I'm going to keep my out for JC1. Technically it's a Rarity 1 and should be common, but I haven't seen one in the wild. I could probably find it in some retro game store easily. But I'm gonna hunt around first before I go that route. Thanks for the heads up!
Sweet finds,im subscribing and look forward to your new videos. Also found it quite funny about trying to get the dc games for $1 lol ive tried things like that in the past.
Thanks for subscribing! Yeah, I tried to be slick that time. I usually underestimate the workers at Salvation Army. I didn't think they'd know the difference between CDs and video games. Obviously Sega has left a legacy ... to this day their name is still synonomous with "video games". LOL! Thanks for the comment!
Yeah, thrift stores a re pretty weird places. They're full of junk and things people got rid of. And the people who work and shop there are ... shall we say, "one of a kind"! LOL! But you can build your video game collection very fast with just a couple bucks each week! Thanks for watching my video and commenting!
Thanks! I've never gotten rid of any of the video games I had when I was a kid. So my collection kept growing from there. Going to flea markets and thrift stores REALLY helped build it bid time! Thanks for watching my video and your kind comment!
i found the dreamcast and saturn systems but i have yet to find any games for them at the goodwills cept for virtua cop and crazy taxi. i need to start searching a little harder for games. i know further in the city there are a lot more thrift stores and places like such. il prolly check today
Yeah, it's always best to check the thrift stores once a week. After a while you tend to know when each of the stores process all their donations. For example, I know The Unique Thrift Store by my house seems to have processed the most donations by Thursday or Friday. So I always check then. Monday is their half off sale so I know no new product has hit the floor. And Tuesday is usually too early to see a decent amount of new product. Anyway, you've probably figured this out by yourself! LOL!
According to the Digital Press Collector's Guide 7th Edition, the hardest NES Mega Man titles are part 5 (rarity 5) and part 6 (rarity 5). MM5 has a value of $12. MM6 has a value of $15. You're lucky to miss only part 5. I'm missing 4 & 5.
I hope so. There has been such a drought here in Chicago. This week if I walk into a thrift store and see a stack of NES games I may just sh*t a brick! LOL! Can't wait for your next video BTW!
You know, I get this question alot ... "From what source am I getting my rarity scale?" The answer is: The Digital Press Collector's Guides. There are two books: One for 8-bit and one for 16-bit up to Dreamcast and handhelds. I should do a video about these books and discuss the rarity scale.
Yeah, that Salvation Army girl was just doing her job, but dang ... couldn't she let it slide once! LOL!
Yeah, I've been to the one in Schaumburg. It's a bit of a drive for me to get there. but I've gotten NES, SNES, PS1, and Genesis games from there before. But I haven't been there in years. I've recently been to the one in Niles as that shop is closer. Found some decent SNES stuff there and a GBA player for Gamecube (Pick up video for 11-20-09).
Great pickups! I played Unreal Tournament on PS2, and had a lot of fun with it. Only played single player though. I haven't played the Dreamcast version but I have played Quake III Arena and I imagine the controls are like that.
I played the first Jade Cocoon game for PS1 and it was a pretty good RPG. I haven't played the sequel though.
I don't have Quake III Arena, but I know it actually supports mouse & keyboard controls just like on a PC. Unreal Tournament also supports this control option. I'm not the biggest fan of FPS games anyway. I'm more of 2D fighter type of guy.
I'll have to try Jade Cocoon 2. Hope to find the original someday. Does it play like Pokemon?
Yeah, Jade Cocoon for PS1 does have some similarities to Pokemon, in that you can use the monsters you have in battle. You don't have to though, you can just use the human character, but some of the battles would get very hard.
Each monster has an element of either Wind, Earth, Water, and Fire, so there's a rock/paper/scissor pattern to the battles.
I don't know if Jade Cocoon 2 is like this though.
Hahaaaa MY man Anthony and his treasure trove!! xD Good finds man. That Jade Cacoon 2 find was pretty surprising dude!!! I'm about to load up my next vid son, so stay tuned in that. Got something nice for you, dude. :D
Yeah, I didn't post a video for pick ups last week because I couldn't find a thing. This week I got lucky. I have a feeling somebody cleaned their closet and donated their Dreamcast stuff. But I REALLY want to find some NES stuff. But I feel it's just not happening here in Chicago! Oh well. Dreamcast for now.
Yeah, I have MVC2 for the Dreamcast. I bought it when it first came out. I like 2D fighters a lot. I also own a used PS2 version which I got for $50 at Gamestop 3 years ago. What a rip off! But I got it so I could play my co-workers at work when I bring my PS2. Funny thing is I found a second MVC2 for Dreamcast for 8 bucks at a resale shop like a week later! Although MVC2 is an awesome game, I find the fighting a bit chaotic. I enjoy the Capcom VS SNK 1&2 much more! Tatsunoko Vs Capcom is next!
Yeah, it's a great place! I think the owner's name is Adam. I hadn't been there for MONTHS and he remembered me and asked me if I was still looking ofr MR. CHIN'S GOURMET PARADISE for Gameboy. I can't believe he remembered I was looking for that game! He didn't have it though, and my search continues. Also check out a store called VIDEO GAMES ETC. in Norridge, IL. The owner's name is Sean and he wrote the Intellivision section of The Digital Press Collector's Guide.
Great finds Anthony.. Damn.. That cashier girl sure knows her Seh Gah.. Lol... Overall I really enjoy your vids man. Especially these! Keep 'em coming :D
Yeah, that cashier girl was just doing her job. LOL! I actually thought about sticking CD covers over the instruction manuals to diguise the games when I got to the counter. But that would be dishonest and I wouldn't be able to sleep at night! LOL! Thanks for watching!
We ought to talk about my Chicagoland Thrift Stores and social media. I'm John Aren and I'm available at majorthrift@gmail.com. Let's talk!
