bob, they limit the speed on mustangs because the tires can't take the speed unless they are Z rated radial tires, and the stang won't flip over if it goes any faster, because after you hit 80 it drops lower to the ground so it won't. I know this for a fact because I own and drive a 98 mustang, you can take the speed limiter and up it with a super chips tunner and put it where ever you want, say 140, and guess what, it will run 140, and it will be on all 4 wheels

for 1 its a 3.8 v6 not 3.6 and a cop car tops out around 155-160 and give a mustang credit i own 1 there alot faster then what people think and a 3.8 is more than capable of goin 150+mph with a chip alone no more speed limitor

They limit the speed on Mustangs because if you go any faster they take off from the ground nad flip over. If you remove your limiter, I suggest you also invest in an F1-type front spoiler.

Patrol cars aren't "supped" up and mustangs aren't beaters...Ford Interceptors with 3:27 gear ratios top out at 130mph and the 3:55 gear ratios top out even less and they are pretty slow at getting to those speeds...There are plenty of cars out that are much faster...Anyway, how many of YOU would it take to catch someone who's under the influence, facing prison, and is on a highway full of other vehicles???
