I have a shit load of these tins. Keep them in your glove box. Fishing kit, Medical kit. Game kit. Snack kit. You know. The basement has bugout bags and such. I use a 30 lbs steel trolling wire for whatever. Yeah...plenty of stuff. Nice idea with the razor blade. Keep the videos coming.
Very nice kit! However, I would definitely store any lead items (like weighted fishhooks or just the weights, or bullets) out of contact with things like toothpicks or your plastic bag (which might be used as a water container). Might not be enough lead exposure to make a serious difference, but if you're using this kit, you have enough problems without adding lead poisoning to 'em. =^[.]^=
Your'e right Raycheetah... Never thought of that. If I ever have to use this kit, a little lead in my diet would be the least of my worries though. I'll find a way to seal the lead off just in case.
I'd agree that it would be the least of your worries thought. the amount of lead you'd ingest while using this kit would be infinitesimal, and the benefits of being able to go a day or two without having to 'make your own' or rely on others would be great.
po folk minds think alike ;o) I had three uses for the altoid tins myself.
1. Mini sewing kit
2. First Aide kit
3. Little shadow boxes for assembleage art pieces.
I couldn't believe how much you were able to put in there and highly useful too. I will now work on a mini survival kit to keep in my bag or bike pouch at all times. Thanks all your videos are so helpful.
I like it, but if is a "survival kit" for trekking, you need a button compass and a LED flashlight (but why the glove?), if an "EDC", why a fishing kit? (but a LED flashlight can be usefull).
Going to get a compass, had planned on it. The smallest one I had wouldn't fit.
I'm a fireman, trained in basic life support, so I put the gloves in there... In case I come across that "Rolled over car in the ditch"... In the middle of the night. I keep a mouth to mouth shield in my pocket at tll times as well.
Good point. My son is applying for a position at our local fire dept. He is carrying a Mouth shield now too...since he was trained in CPR/AED. In our small town one never knows when a 'civilian' will be called to help.
I made one of these in BoyScouts! In fact, I still have mine & it's (for the most part) still usable. Band-aids used to come in a metal container, so that's what mine's in. Once I grew up & got an ALICE capable war belt during my teens, it went into one of the pouches just nice. One suggestion throw in a stick of gum or two for a quick sugar high or something to take your mind off the moment (of having to depend on the kit!)
Used to have a stick of gum in there... Needed it for breath control (Chinese for lunch, business meeting afterwards). Need to replace it. Don't normally chew gum... So I have to buy a pack on purpose, keep forgetting.

@Carlstens Clear nail polish should work.

Great video!! I'll probably do two of these one fore my purse and one for the car. Question: what are the toothpicks for? that one has me baffled.

Cassandra -
1.Toothpicks can be use for the trigger mechanism on a "Deadfall" trap.
2. Just that much dry wood can be the difference sometimes in getting a fire started or not.
3. Ever try to get fire roasted squirrel out from between your teeth? LOL
