im helping my dad restore his truck (a canadian transport truck) which has severe interior/exterior damage,including a blown engine and no battery(rust everywhere, EVERYWHERE!) do you have any ideas?it also has a horrible paint job.
i love your videos pete. they are very good for learning how to do things and very helpful. they are also great entertainment. i have a 1961 chevy apache 20 fleetside, 2wd, and man they are good trucks. nice videos. -Ray
looks like a great project truck but not sure if you knew but in the video you said the donor truck has a 350 well if it is the 5.3 v8 which most have then thats a 327 one good thing about chevy is when they replaced the 5.7 they went back with the classic 327 as a 5.3 just a little heads up for ya
2:30 Got Lucky, Easy Job. Don't think you will be using them 2 words in the same sentence when u get done with this ole 61 longbed. Hope it goes smoother for u on the next one. Thanks for the vids I am learning what to do and not to do on my 66 swb. I think I am gonna go with a more stock front end and just swap in a power disc brake kit from CPP. Gonna need your help on the body work!
NO TV! Name one business or family that has survived reality TV that had a full time show and NO Foose in/out of those shows don't count! Boyd Coddiingtn,(rest is soul), ended up in the wheel business and quality DROPPED!!
I agree with the motor mounts but after 46 years i think the driveshaft might need to get shortened... maybe... 4l60 is bigger in length but lighter then the old "jet a way" trans that was a 4 speed auto way back then. Old GM Transmissions are my love! besides that truck has HUGE aluminum driveshaft compared to the thin steel one in the 61'. and you also said something about a 4 link? well that will be cool and give you some lee-way with rear end location. you are sticking that new bed on to?
Very interesting video again, chassis looks very solid, though I guess that was a big issue with choosing this truck. Quite a new donor vehicle but I guess you end up with a complete drive train you can trust.
Im just glad your not some idiot restoring a ford truck.

Thanks for the heads up on the cubic inchs.... Im just used to saying small block 350, it's a habit... Take it easy, Pete
swrnc 2 years ago
@blazerlover25 325.1 not 327.....look it up. 5.3 is a stroked version of the 293 and both have NOTHING to do with a 327.

@jasonnissan1 correct... and the 325 wouldn't make a wart on a 327's ass.
