Electric Wizard is what Sabbath would've evolved into had they'd stayed the course of Master of Reality and Volume 4. These guys picked up the pieces left over and marched onward definately.

@clockworkmike83 if you honestly think that's true, you have no idea what Master of Reality and Volume 4 were all about. i've been listening to Volume 4 for about 20 years, and i am still picking up the details and the beauty of it to this very day. it may be the best Sabbath album of all.... Electric Wizard, although very good, is no Sabbath. at best, they represent a small aspect of the mid 70's Sabbath sound, and they run with it. Sabbath had more soul and dimension.

I'm only 28 but I've listened to Sabbath since I was 6 years old ( good parents!) I agree totally that Electric Wizard will NEVER be Sabbath or on their level ( vocally, they can't match Ozzy and sonically they can't match Iommi ) but of all the doom/stoner bands to follow Sabbath, EW is the closest in spirit

Electric Wizard is VERY influenced by early Black Sabbath, but what they really did was like "hey, man... let's trip more on acid, let's smoke weed until our head explode, let's be more fucked up than Sabbath was in their early days". Electric Wizard = a more fucked up early Black Sabbath. Got it?

@mkmoloch You don't have to list 100, two or three would be fine. I guess it depends on how you define a word, but from what I understand, "heavy", as it applies to metal, is low and slow. Grindcore, Gorecore, Deathgrind, whatever, has fast percussion, lyrics, guitar or even all three. Same with intonation - you have a higher pitched vocals or guitar.

Feel free to list a couple bands that are "close", and I'll check them out. In my quest for the heaviest, I'll happily admit I was mistaken.
