All this info is relevant when talking to people over the net. I'm not saying you are giving BAD advice, just INCOMPLETE advice.
I've fixed more hacked up crap installs done by people who went to idiots who thought they had a clue, when they didn't. Some have been hacked so bad I turned them away cause they couldnt be saved.
Im a fucking goof who knows what he's talking about and try's to give people all the information they need to make an informed decision.
You are giving a blanket statement saying ALL air ride is good, it isn't. Some kits are better than other kits.
You may know how to intall a good kit properly, but not everybody does. Did you ask if he was installing it himself? Do you know where he is located, could you refer him to a reputable shop in his area?
Can you tell him where to buy his product at a reasonable price?
Hell, you don't even know what year his car is but you know the ride will be great?
I've installed air on cars and trucks since 92. It can make some rides better and some worse. And I'm saying this respectfully.
So if you take a 2011 Porsche and gut it and throw in air struts you can head to Laguna Seca and start throwing it into the corners with better handling characteristics than the stock components?
@kandykoated Your an idiot, just because you have been doing it along time doesnt mean you've been doing it right or a good job. 1: We are talking about air bags, not air struts. 2: No one who is planning on doing anything track oriented is going to install airbags/struts like the porsche example you gave. 3: You are obviously not doing something right if people are telling you the ride got worse after installing air bags. Anyone can talk on youtube like they know everything if they are saying
@kandykoated it to someone who has no idea. I suggest you do your homework before you go telling someone putting air bags onto a vehicle makes it worse. Trying to use an example as a porsche set up for racing is irrelavent you fucking goof.
@kandykoated There is now way in HELL it gets worse. The ride will be the same quality as stock or better. The only reason it would be worse is if you installed it wrong or dont run shocks with your bags.
Just a comment, I know thus is an old post, but it really isn't wise to inflate an airbag like that when it's unrestricted. If it popped and that end cap came off it could kill you.
Please people, air ride is some dangerous stuff, don't take it lightly. It's cool and all but take it from someone who installs it...it ain't no joke.
What son just did there is pretty dangerous...don't do it.
@kandykoated by unrestricted did you mean physically not bolted to anything?
I'm ordering some soon and want to make sure I don't loose any body parts :)
He should be running a regulator to prevent excessive PSI to the bag(even though most are rated at like 500psi). How do you test your bags prior to install to make sure they aren't faulty?
@pjneese sorry for not responding sooner. Yes bags should be properly bolted down and restrained in some manner before inflating like that. Even putting a small amount of air in an unrestricted bag could cause it to fail.
@kandykoated Hey, I'm looking at getting a set of these for my car (Infiniti G20). How's the ride feel on them after an install? Are there any quiet compressors out there that I can use when I install them? Those sound pretty noisy.
@MrNismoSR20 No such thing as a quiet compressor. You can get mounting pads or bolts with rubber on them, that will reduce the noice caused from being attached to something but there is nothing you can do about the actuall compressor being loud. You can go with a tiny compressor for less noise but than you wont have sufficent psi going into the tanks and bags.
@MrNismoSR20 Very smooth, dont feel every bump thats for sure. If you run without shocks you will hate it. If you run a very high PSI you will feel bumps, but a nice PSI with shocks will give you a good as if not better ride than stock.
they could be, but if you look closely, there is a C on the bag, which basically means that they are from AIM and are Phoenix airbags, which have stud problems (they tend to break off).

So before you go spouting off at the lip and playing internet gangster, learn some things.
1. what setup are you referring to for Mr Nismo's G20?
Did you tell him to buy a certain brand of compressor? AZ, Viair?
He has a G20, what year is it? It obviously has struts, so it will need strut bags, which should he buy?
I guess they ALL are great and they ALL give a fantastic ride quality.

@dropdownlowrider
1. I have been doing it a long time and DO know what i'm taliking about.
2.No one said anything about installing bags without shocks, I don't know where you got that from.
3 you stated the ride will be the same as stock or better, thats incorrect. You are giving out bad advice and i've seen it time and time again.
EVERY bag and strut is NOT created equal.
YOU may know how to install a good setup, but not everyone out there does.

I agree 100 percent!!
Never inflate an air bag without sufficient restriction, unless you are using very very low P.S.I.
Dragginhombre87 1 year ago
The ride will never be like stock ride when you put air ride in.
In some cases, the ride gets better, in some cases it gets worse.
What year is your ride?
How low do you want to go?
How much do you intend to spend?
Is it your daily driver, and your only car?
Will you need to drive it thru winter?
Do you have someone you trust that can install it?
Air ride can be a complicated thing if you are new to the scene.
I'll look into some options for you, but I need the info on your ride.
