I'm trying to channel traktor into ableton, which I'm able to do, but I'm also trying to utilize ableton's live recording and looping features; however, when I have the input set to the soundflower I am unable to record loops using my audio interface. Can I have to inputs into ableton? How can I solve this problem?
Go to Preferences -> Controller Manager and under Device click on Add -> Generic MIDI
In In-Port select Traktor Virtual MIDI In In Out-Port select Traktor Virtual MIDI Out On the Asignment Table add Out, select Master Tempo->Master Tempo Clock Send
On Focus leave it Global. No mapping is make sure you select on Global Section the option Clock Master Int (Internal), select a tempo, click Master Clock Start button, open Ableton Preferences ->
@CortiOrgan .... Midi, traktor virtual output to IN and traktor virtual input to OUT.and activate sync/remote. Don't forget to switch Track/Sync/Remote ON
@CortiOrgan sometimes traktor acts funny if you aggregate, the only other alternative is to have your main out go back to a single in, using an an audio cable, put your rca cables from main out back into one of your in's and then select that in inside of ableton.
@CortiOrgan my bad i thought you had an audio 8. the only other way is to get the cracked scratch pro that's floating around online. I guess it would be okay since you actually own a copy of traktor.
@CortiOrgan Yeah I guess if you don't have an audio 8, you may want to hunt around for traktor scratch pro crack. because i believe that one allows you to use aggragated devices.
@CortiOrgan you can midi sync but that is still sketchy and doesn't work well. so just do it by ear, ableton has nudge buttons and you just have to change the bpm manually. as of now midi sync technology is still not 100% accurate.
@armyofme4340 got the right answer for it! but before one more and LAST question ;) , if everything is nicely routed. and i m controling my tracks with CDJs, in ableton is just 1 channel going out to the master. so i have my 2 signals (comming into my hardware mixer) from the audio 4 dj. now the sum of both channels comes to my mixer. How can i have still both channels from traktor on 2 channels on mixer? i guess i need an audio 8 , right?
I activated input 7/8 in ableton and chose this as the input of my audio track. Which works cool, there is signal coming in, but i dont hear it, i just see the peakmeter. So i also dont hear the stuff im playing in the finger and artillery. But even if i would hear it my next question would be how i should record then the whole thing. Cause i have to arm the midi track to play it but must arm the audio track to record the mix? Questions over questions, Thanks again mate
Hey, just tested it, its definitely not working. As soon as you pick a different soundcard then audio 8 dj (8in 8out) the scratch function is directly disabled.
Its a nice thing if youre mixing internally, but for external mixer and turntable control i dont think it will work.
Pitty, nice tutorials anyway, keep up the good work.
so weird it works on my end, with the audio 8 and soundflower aggregated. you could also try to have the master out go to 7/8 and then just use a short rca to plug the output of 7/8 into 5/6 then just use 5/6 as your input in ableton, that's another way i've been able to do it.
you use turntables but still the internal mixer? anyway im just too lazy to get out of bed now and plug everything on (its 6am in germany ;) ), i tell you later if it worked, will try for sure.
thanks for this video, didnt see it before. I will try tomorrow if this works, somehow i stil doubt it. You are using the internal mixer still in Traktor which i dont. When u use the external mixer there is no setting for master out etc. I think the problem is not the routing itself, i get that part, its more that as soon as you use a different soundcard in traktor than audio8 etc. you cannot control the transport/pitch functions via a turntable, its just locked somehow. But thanks so far!!
are u a girl or a kid jw because if your a kid your brilliant

@armyofme4340
i dunno 100 % get what you mean , i m stucked with this, because on a audio 4 dj all ports are as that (and i have no more):
OUT 1/2 --- Hardware-Mixer Channel 1
IN 1/2 ---- Turntable A / CDJ
OUT 3/4 --- Hardware-Mixer Channel 2
IN 3/4 ---- Turntable B / CDJ
so how should do it? perhaps i could also try other version of traktor...
thanks for your help anyways !!

@armyofme4340 i already have original scratch pro vers. 1.2.1 i guess i ll try today if it works, or should i get the normal traktor pro?

@CortiOrgan Yeah I guess if you don't have an audio 8, you may want to hunt around for traktor scratch pro crack. because i believe that one allows you to use aggragated devices.

@anyboySAE
strange. that's why you aggregate it, so that it's 2 devices stacked on one. Works with my audio 8 and tables here at home.
