You have a enchanting table. You could have put level 1 or two enchantments on 9 of your 10 picks. You should use all your future snow/pumpkins to set up towers 4 blocks off the ground and put the snowman there, surround them with a fence, and they will throw snowballs at any enemies that approach, saving you/warning you when there are monsters near. Btw: Isaac Icer for the name!
