I know the first question I ask when I see it shouldn't be "How much before it breaks?", but does anyone know? If I have to lay the bike or something happens will it still be good to go after I pick myself up?
@Antlion1001 Think of how often you replace the starter motor, the windshield wiper motor, the CD ejection motor on your radio, the electric windows motor... Electric motors require almost NO maintenance. they have INCREDIBLE torque (meaning they have FAST acceleration) and, importantly, they do NOT use oil products from the wealthiest corporations in the history of the planet.
They are trying to scare us away from electric because gas is profitable. Check out my main Upload and my Playlists!
i would like to see a motorcycle with the same system than the fisker karma, an engine powering a electric generator to charge the batterys, and that way you can reach long trips
Its pretty damn sad that a bike can be made to go 100+ mile range on a single charge when we are bitching and complaining about the oil situation why not do cars and everything else the same way. That way no one will have a reason to bitch about the cost of Gas or Oil. Why cant not only Congress but all of us as well, get our shit together and come up with more ideas to make it a better place to live and bring Work/Jobs back into the US. where it needs to be.
People need to stop whining about regenerative braking. You DON'T want regen braking on a motorbike. You need strong, consistent, and PREDICTABLE braking for safety and stopping power. People would lose traction in turns with regen braking and we don't need fatalities holding back EV adoption. It's not worth the small amount of charge you'd get back. Better to get a portable solar array.
It's great to see an EV with realistic capabilities. The only discouraging factor is the price. It would be great if the 10.0 could get under the $10k price point.
I'd love to know if the ranges advertised are running the EV at 100mph for 100mi or was there a different constant speed? I'd love to hear that the range is actually higher if you cruise the bike at 60mph.
This is an electric motorcycle I would seriously consider buying. My only concern is that once everyone coverts to electric transportation... the powers that be will simply begin charging the average Joe more for electricity (possibly much, much more).
@bolognadetector I thought of that too. The powers that be will probably come up with pre-paid "electric" cards....like the gift cards on the market and little plug and power-up stations. Crazy.
@bolognadetector wheal now they charge average Joe much much more than before on oil. So what he won't be paying on oil will go on electricity . No loss no gain. But until the price raises that high might pay less.
@TheTruthHurtsYup Of course I can imagine it, but electric bikes are typically considerably heavier than gas bikes, these days.
My standard of comparison is the 90 Honda Hawk GT. About 60 HP, about 400 lb full of gas, goes a little over 100 miles on a tank, top speed a little over 100mph. Similar to this electric bike, but I'd bet the electric with the big battery (only one that does 100 miles) weighs more than 400lbs. The 60mph/80mile model weighs 324lbs.
@Xaels I think super quick charging will win out unless they literally find a source of energy have a better kwh:kg ratio. Though I bet the biggest concern for the average citizen will be majority charge within 2-5 minutes. No one will want to wait at any "pump" for 30 minutes and up. :)
now all we need to do is figure out a way to instlal a or two windmill electricity free energy charging units ON/IN the motorcycle. THEN i can proudly put the american flag on that sucker with a license plate that reads " freeatlast " if i could fit that many characters on a license plate.lol. Long live the TRUE american libertarian dream. free energy on transportation

You guys should really talk to Stanford R. Ovshinsky. I'm absolutely sure he can improve your batteries by quite a significant amount. He is most likely really busy but you should still attempt to get a hold of him.
Regen braking would set this thing apart. For me, distance is the measure of usefulness from point A to B. That's the only reason why I'd risk my neck on a bike. Electric and distance. And if you need carbon fiber to reduce weight, then use it. If it costs more, the charge for it. Recycled milk bottles don't matter- it's already electric. That's more than enough.

I am not an engineer in the least, so maybe i'm not getting something, but why are all electric motorcycles i see, whether manufactured like this one or scratch built in a garage, all single speed? i'm aware there are major differences between gasoline and electric motors but would it not increase speed AND range if these vehicles had even a 2 or 3 speed transmission? also no mention of regenerative braking... cmon, toyota has been doing this compeditively priced for over 13 years!
THANK YOU,whoever stuck with that 100 miles range IF that " 80-120 mile range in normal usage" is true. That's called NOT inflating your specs on your product. CUDOS and god bless this company and ALL electric vehicle companies..ONE CLOSER STEP..TO TRUE FREE FUEL...and/or FREEDOM from mahmoud of iran and saudi arabia's precious oil!
am i correct in thinking the bike uses 6 to 10 kw/h batteries? because to achieve 100 mph a bike needs about 35hp =26kw output .now 26kw will drain a 6kw/h battery in 14 minutes, infact it will be somewhat less because that was with 100% conversion efficiency. will be down to 10 minutes at 70% overall efficiency 16.66 miles.
@Gothtecdotcom I don't speak for the company, and I haven't seen their website yet. Many of the cutting edge EV cars can recharge on 110v household current in around 6-8 hours. I suspect the Brammo, with smaller battery packs, would be closer to 4 hours maybe? And I bet a special 240v dedicated charging station could be engineered to do it in just a couple hours.
How many battery charges can we expect from the 100? Also how long does it take to fully charge? Best of luck to your team at Brammo. Oh, and how do I buy stock in this company??
I start loving this brand really . Great innovations ,great products and fair prices. I’m 100% sure if some other companies like ultramotors would put their hands on this bike they will charge you the same as baying your Lincoln car. Brammo however must now prove reliability and service I wish they can succeed because we need such products.
@incognito84 itll be electronic! XD, on the serious side though i think itll be law because i heard prius are a danger for blind people since they cant hear the engine.
@gilessmokey there are a lot of variables, but we have seen up to 120mile range at a normal usage. At wide open throttle (not sure where you can do this) it would depend on rider weight and climb/descent, but you can see 80-120 mile range in normal usage, hence the 100mile range number.
@brammo I can think of a lot of places I'd be willing to have a bike 100+mph for a sustained period, how long does the battery last. I've heard a lot about $.01 a mile, but then the battery costs 10grand to replace after 100k miles, whats the deal with your bike?
@gilessmokey the specs from brammos website for the highest end version:
10kWh battery capacity with a 40kW motor. (That's over 100 amps of juice at 88.8 volts...)
So top speed using all 40kW you get 15 minutes of ride time... The actuall top speed will vary (very slighty) with wind resistance, total weight, and the grade (slope angle) of the road. This would only apply to race track situations of course...
I'd guestimate about 2 hours of freeway driving in real life based on the listed specs.

I gotta say, I rode the Brammo Enertia, the commuter bike, and it was a solid machine. This Empulse rocks. I think this is just the first to come of some killer electric sporty bikes.
The bike looks great, it’s definitely a great asset to start seeing this new technologies taking place.
I will be interested to know how much is the price and how much the price of maintenance including changing batteries and reparation. Because usually all those new technologies of hybrids ..etc charges us more in order to save us money. Do you want to save some money? Than pay more loll
;) I LOVE YOUR COMPANY! I would erge investers to put money into this company LIKE BIG TIME!!! PARK YOUR GAS GUZZLERS FOR YOUR LONG HALL TRIPS. RIDE A BRAMMO TO WORK OR PLAY! THIS IS THE FUTURE NOW! AND THE BIG PLUS,IT'S MADE IN THE U.S.A. :) BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALL AT BRAMMO. I want one but cant shell out the full price all at once and I have no credit. So I think it would be a good idea that perhaps the Government should lone moneys to buy your products. Just an idea.
@i8acobra 100 mile range is an average based on common use. How far you can go at 100miles per hour is probably more than you can find a spot to do it legally. That said, it will vary depending on your weight, grade, etc. But some folks will see 120 mile range, some 80 at high speed.
@pixolut Testrides as fast as we can get them into production. Pre-order volume is driving that so if you want to help get them into production quicker, place your pre-order at brammo.com/store/brammo-empulse/ and then we will call you when it is time to build your bike. If you can not/dont want to do it, pass it on to the next person. (non transferable) Thanks
in Canada, QC? yeah I know, the province where motorcycliste are kind of cockroaches. I'm currently looking via the SAAduQ for registration.I'm willing to trade my Chevy IROC Z '86 350 ci 4 barrel & probably my Buell firebolt too for something less alcoolic =) life span if used 6 month/year? charge cycle? 100 milles is like 1 week and half of dailly commute (witthout extra) Is it better to choose a 6.0? minimum temperature without performance reduction?
This gorgeous little bike would sell in sweden, with all the new tollstations where motorcycles can pass without having to pay would make this a real money saver for commuters, and fun too !
I wish brammo all the best this could be the breakthrough for EV's
My Enertia has been flawless so far but now I am drooling for a Empulse - If I can trade my Enertia in sign me up for one! I'm ready to go faster than 62!
How about a press-kit or some hi-res images please. Also if we could have a test-ride video without any music would be appreciated. Makes it easier for me to promote you guys ;) Cheers -Stew
what will the warranty be on the battery and how long is it expected to last? (i posted it on facebook) keep up the good stuff! (but please answer my questions)
@rlogtenberg We will release the specs soon, but over 50,000 miles, depending on how they are treated. Batteries dont like being stored in excessive heat or cold when not in use, etc. etc.
The range is almost overkill. I can't imagine wanting to go 100 miles on a motorcycle. The 60 mile model hits the sweet spot imo, and the price is just right.
I thought Brammo was a chinese firework company...I kid..
Hey Brammo Can I have an Empulse if I Become 2011's biggest brammo fan?
I think Brammo are the first E.V manufacturer including motorcycle car, bus etc to
actually release an Electric vehicle that the masses can afford, with comparative specs to I.C.E...Been a massive bike fan for years but never passed my test, was gonna buy a zero DS but I want this instead...how much for a u.k bike?
To make everyone happy, you're going to have to build a bike that goes 1000 mile on a charge, charge in 5 minutes, make it faster than the average superbike (for the full 1000 mile range) and it must make lots of noise! Have I forgotten anything? Oh yeah, sell it for less than you built it for, say under $5,000.
@dwmtl1000s1974 We are exploring a level 2 220v quick charge. The ranges we start are average usage, including driving hard part of the time. (it is a blast!) but you can see a range variance from 80-120 miles on the model 10.0 depending on usage for example.
Oh! Gosh! Wondering What technology can do for mankind!
That is a "BEAUTY"!! An amazing piece of Engineering! Love it!! :)

@paradoxb3 yes but you can only go from 1 to 3 miles with a Toboata

am i correct in thinking the bike uses 6 to 10 kw/h batteries? because to achieve 100 mph a bike needs about 35hp =26kw output .now 26kw will drain a 6kw/h battery in 14 minutes, infact it will be somewhat less because that was with 100% conversion efficiency. will be down to 10 minutes at 70% overall efficiency 16.66 miles.

Recharge time, please?
Gothtecdotcom 1 year ago
@Gothtecdotcom depends on the model, but roughly 40-50 minutes per KwH
brammo 1 year ago
@brammo so if you plug it in at home would that be 8 hrs?
gtanimation 1 year ago
@brammo so about 10 hours :D god damn
artjomskras 1 year ago
@Gothtecdotcom I don't speak for the company, and I haven't seen their website yet. Many of the cutting edge EV cars can recharge on 110v household current in around 6-8 hours. I suspect the Brammo, with smaller battery packs, would be closer to 4 hours maybe? And I bet a special 240v dedicated charging station could be engineered to do it in just a couple hours.

How many battery charges can we expect from the 100? Also how long does it take to fully charge? Best of luck to your team at Brammo. Oh, and how do I buy stock in this company??
MrNotdave 1 year ago
I start loving this brand really . Great innovations ,great products and fair prices. I’m 100% sure if some other companies like ultramotors would put their hands on this bike they will charge you the same as baying your Lincoln car. Brammo however must now prove reliability and service I wish they can succeed because we need such products.

what is the range at 100mph? real figures please.
gilessmokey 1 year ago
@gilessmokey there are a lot of variables, but we have seen up to 120mile range at a normal usage. At wide open throttle (not sure where you can do this) it would depend on rider weight and climb/descent, but you can see 80-120 mile range in normal usage, hence the 100mile range number.
brammo 1 year ago
@brammo
I find it hard to believe.
Get a car or a motorbike and try to see the difference in fuel consumption at full throttle or normal usage...
If you car and max speed has 805 range than at normal I will buy both the bike and your car :)
Filosprint 1 year ago
@brammo I can think of a lot of places I'd be willing to have a bike 100+mph for a sustained period, how long does the battery last. I've heard a lot about $.01 a mile, but then the battery costs 10grand to replace after 100k miles, whats the deal with your bike?
PerryJ994 9 months ago
@gilessmokey the specs from brammos website for the highest end version:
10kWh battery capacity with a 40kW motor. (That's over 100 amps of juice at 88.8 volts...)
So top speed using all 40kW you get 15 minutes of ride time... The actuall top speed will vary (very slighty) with wind resistance, total weight, and the grade (slope angle) of the road. This would only apply to race track situations of course...
I'd guestimate about 2 hours of freeway driving in real life based on the listed specs.

@i8acobra 100 mile range is an average based on common use. How far you can go at 100miles per hour is probably more than you can find a spot to do it legally. That said, it will vary depending on your weight, grade, etc. But some folks will see 120 mile range, some 80 at high speed.

@rlogtenberg We will release the specs soon, but over 50,000 miles, depending on how they are treated. Batteries dont like being stored in excessive heat or cold when not in use, etc. etc.

The range is almost overkill. I can't imagine wanting to go 100 miles on a motorcycle. The 60 mile model hits the sweet spot imo, and the price is just right.
